Design principles for Bernal spirals and helices with tunable pitch

Using the framework of potential energy landscape theory, we describe two in silico designs for self-assembling helical colloidal superstructures based upon dipolar dumbbells and Janus-type building blocks, respectively. Helical superstructures with controllable pitch length are obtained using external magnetic field driven assembly of asymmetric dumbbells involving screened electrostatic as well as magnetic dipolar interactions. The pitch of the helix is tuned by modulating the Debye screening length over an experimentally accessible range. The second design is based on building blocks composed of rigidly linked spheres with short-range anisotropic interactions, which are predicted to self-assemble into Bernal spirals. These spirals are quite flexible, and longer helices undergo rearrangements via cooperative, hinge-like moves, in agreement with experiment

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh green perceived value, green perceived risk, green trust, dan perceived price terhadap green purchase intention produk AC low watt di Surabaya. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif, yang dikumpulkan melalui survei kepada konsumen di kota Surabaya. Analisa data menggunakan teknik model persamaan struktural. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa green perceived value berpengaruh positif dan siginifikan terhadap green purchase intention, sedangkan variabel green perceived risk dan variabel perceived price memberikan pengaruh negatif dan tidak signifikan terhadap variabel green purchase intention. Selain itu, variabel green trust berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap variabel green purchase intention

Dynamic model of gene regulation for the lac operon

Gene regulatory network is a collection of DNA which interact with each other and with other matter in the cell. The lac operon is an example of a relatively simple genetic network and is one of the best-studied structures in the Escherichia coli bacteria. In this work we consider a deterministic model of the lac operon with a noise term, representing the stochastic nature of the regulation. The model is written in terms of a system of simultaneous first order differential equations with delays. The Effect of Inqury Based Learning on the Procedural Knowledge Dimension About Electric and Magnet Concept

The purpose of this study to determine the effect of the use of inquiry-based learning to the increased dimensions of procedural knowledge in electrical magnetic material. The study used a quasi-experimental research methods with research design is non-equivalent control group design and a sampel are selected with the random sampling method. The experimental group was taught by the method of inquiry-based learning and the control group was taught by conventional methods. Collecting data using the instrument of multiple-choice test that developed through this research with category of validity is valid, reliability with category of reliable, index of discrimination with category of low, and level of difficulty with category of medium. The results of the data analysis by using the formula N-Gain and t-test showed that an increase in the dimensions of procedural knowledge siginificantly for experimental class and less significant for control class. Based on the results of this study suggested to the teacher to always use the method of inquiry learning that an increase in procedural knowledge dimension, especially for topics related to experimental physics

Experimental Evaluation of Hydraulic Performance of Outlet Structures with Baffle Blocks under Super critical Flows

The design of outlet transition in field irrigation system requires the flow attaining a uniform velocity at the end of such structures. In addition, super critical flow condition requires maximizing the dissipation of hydraulic energy possessed by the flowing water to hold its erosion capacity to a minimum. Floor baffle blocks incorporated in the outlet transition are useful for the above objectives. This laboratory investigation attempts to evaluate the effects of the relative sizes and arrangements of different types of baffle blocks on hydraulic performances of outlet transition of different configurations operating at super critical flow conditions. Dimensional analysis techniques were used to develop dimensionless ratios describing the geometry and the flow within an outlet transition containing certain types of appurtenance structures. The solution was evaluated in the laboratory with respect to measurable elements of the flow to achieve standardization and general evaluation of the effectiveness of the different types of baffle blocks. The results are presented in the form of dimensionless plots, which show the variation of the ratios developed earlier, with the controlled variation of Froude numbers. Expanding channel outlet transitions of straight-wall type of angle 10 0 , 20 0 and 30 o with two expansion ratios of 4 and 6 were tested with and without floor baffles. The outlets with baffles are generally found to be effective in creating optimum flow conditions than the plain outlets. The use of baffles also resulted in higher dissipation of energy within the outlets, with baffles having curved upstream edge (in plan) dissipated up to 42.7% more energy than the plain outlets

Analisis Pengaruh Pergerakan Bursa Internasional Terhadap Pergerakan Bursa Indonesia

The purpose of this study was to determine and obtain empirical evidence on whether there is influence and reciprocal relationships on the movement of International exchanges (Dow Jones, FTSE, Nikkei, Straits Times and Hang Seng), economic conditions, and the relationship between the state of the market movements Indonesia (JSX and IDX). Method of multiple linear regressions with Eviews 5.1 program used in this study to determine the effect of the variables mentioned above. The sample in this study includes daily data for the JSX ongoing since January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2008, and taken to IDX data starting from January 1, 2009 through June 30, 2009. Results of this study are contained influences of the International exchanges separately. No effect occurs when tested simultaneously. JSX influenced by outside markets, but otherwise IDX positively affect International markets. IDX was due to the influence of the shifting influence of the American economy, which affected Subprime Mortgage crisis and the market is already pretty saturated, to Asia which is devoted to research in Indonesia, which is not affected by the Subprime Mortgage and developing countries (developing countries) that could affect other markets Subprime Mortgage crisis affected.Conclusion that there was a shift in which the effect of Indonesia\u27s market affect other markets in the same region even European markets (FTSE) and the U.S. (Dow Jones) due to the improvement in the economic situation of Indonesia that resilience to the global crisis
