Copper(I)-Phosphinite Complexes in Click Cycloadditions: Three-Component Reactions and Preparation of 5-Iodotriazoles

KGaA.The remarkable activity displayed by copper(I)–phosphinite complexes of general formula [CuBr(L)] in two challenging cycloadditions is reported: a) the one-pot azidonation/cycloaddition of boronic acids, NaN3, and terminal alkynes; b) the cycloaddition of azides and iodoalkynes. These air-stable catalysts led to very good results in both cases and the expected triazoles could be isolated in pure form under ‘Click-suitable’ conditions
XMM-Newton and Deep Optical Observations of the OTELO fields: the Groth-Westphal Strip
OTELO (OSIRIS Tunable Emission Line Object Survey) will be carried out with
the OSIRIS instrument at the 10 m GTC telescope at La Palma, and is aimed to be
the deepest and richest survey of emission line objects to date. The deep
narrow-band optical data from OSIRIS will be complemented by means of
additional observations that include: (i) an exploratory broad-band survey that
is already being carried out in the optical domain, (ii) FIR and sub-mm
observations to be carried with the Herschel space telescope and the GTM, and
(iii) deep X-Ray observations from XMM-Newton and Chandra.Here we present a
preliminary analysis of public EPIC data of one of the OTELO targets,the
Groth-Westphal strip, gathered from the XMM-Newton Science Archive (XSA). EPIC
images are combined with optical BVRI data from our broadband survey carried
out with the 4.2m WHT at La Palma. Distance-independent diagnostics (involving

Optical photometry of the UCM Lists I and II
We present Johnson B CCD photometry for the whole sample of galaxies of the
Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) Survey Lists I and II. They constitute
a well-defined and complete sample of galaxies in the Local Universe with
active star formation. The data refer to 191 S0 to Irr galaxies at an averaged
redshift of 0.027, and complement the already published Gunn r, J and K
photometries. In this paper the observational and reduction features are
discussed in detail, and the new colour information is combined to search for
clues on the properties of the galaxies, mainly by comparing our sample with

A possible cosmological application of some thermodynamic properties of the black body radiation in dimensional Euclidean spaces
In this work we present the generalization of some thermodynamic properties
of the black body radiation (BBR) towards an dimensional Euclidean space.
For this case the Planck function and the Stefan-Boltzmann law have already
been given by Landsberg and de Vos and some adjustments by Menon and Agrawal.
However, since then no much more has been done on this subject and we believe
there are some relevant aspects yet to explore. In addition to the results
previously found we calculate the thermodynamic potentials, the efficiency of
the Carnot engine, the law for adiabatic processes and the heat capacity at
constant volume. There is a region at which an interesting behavior of the
thermodynamic potentials arise, maxima and minima appear for the BBR
system at very high temperatures and low dimensionality, suggesting a possible
application to cosmology. Finally we propose that an optimality criterion in a
thermodynamic framework could have to do with the nature of the universe.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure
Light Non-degenerate Composite Partners at the LHC
We study the implications of a large degree of compositeness for the light
generation quarks in composite pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone-boson Higgs models. We
focus in particular on viable scenarios where the right-handed up-type quarks
have a sizable mixing with the strong dynamics. For concreteness we assume the
latter to be characterized by an SO(5)/SO(4) symmetry with fermionic resonances
in the SO(4) singlet and fourplet representations. Singlet partners dominantly
decay to a Higgs boson and jets. As no dedicated searches are currently looking
for these final states, singlet partners can still be rather light. Conversely,
some fourplet partners dominantly decay to an electroweak gauge boson and a
jet, a signature which has been analyzed at the LHC. To constrain the parameter
space of this scenario we have reinterpreted various LHC analyses. In the limit
of first two generation degeneracy, as in minimal flavor violation or
U(2)-symmetric flavor models, fourplet partners need to be relatively heavy,
with masses above 1.8 TeV, or the level of compositeness needs to be rather
small. The situation is rather different in models that deviate from the first
two generation degeneracy paradigm, as the charm parton distribution functions
are suppressed relative to the up quark ones. The right-handed charm quark can
be composite and its partners being as light as 600 GeV, while the right-handed
up quark needs either to be mostly elementary or to have its partners as heavy
as 2 TeV. Models with fully composite singlet fermions are also analyzed,
leading to similar conclusions. Finally, we consider the case where both the
fourplet and the singlet states are present. In this case the bounds could be
significantly weaken due to a combination of smaller production rates and the
opening of new channels including cascade processes.Comment: 49 pages, 18 figure
