Crustal dynamics project data analysis, 1986. Volume 1: Fixed station VLBI geodetic results
The Goddard VLBI group reports the results of analyzing 361 Mark III VLBI data sets from fixed observatories through the end of 1985 which are available to the Crustal Dynamics Project. All POLARIS/IRIS full-day data sets are included. The mobile VLBI sites at Platteville, Colorado; Penticton, British Columbia; and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories are also included since these occupations bear on the study of plate stability. Two large solutions, GLB027 and GLB028, were used to obtain site/baseline evolutions and earth rotation parameters, respectively. Source positions and nutation offsets were also adjusted in each solution. The results include 23 sites and 101 baselines
Crustal dynamics project data analysis fixed station VLBI geodetic results
The Goddard VLBI group reports the results of analyzing the fixed observatory VLBI data available to the Crustal Dynamics Project through the end of 1984. All POLARIS/IRIS full-day data are included. The mobile site at Platteville, Colorado is also included since its occupation bears on the study of plate stability. Data from 1980 through 1984 were used to obtain the catalog of site and radio source positions labeled S284C. Using this catalog two types of one-day solutions were made: (1) to estimate site and baseline motions; and (2) to estimate Earth rotation parameters. A priori Earth rotation parameters were interpolated to the epoch of each observation from BIH Circular D
Crustal dynamics project data analysis, 1987. Volume 1: Fixed station VLBI geodetic results, 1979-1986
The Goddard VLBI group reports the results of analyzing Mark III data sets from fixed observatories through the end of 1986 and available to the Crustal Dynamics Project. All full-day data from POLARIS/IRIS are included. The mobile VLBI sites at Platteville (Colorado), Penticton (British Columbia), and Yellowknife (Northwest Territories) are also included since these occupations bear on the study of plate stability. Two large solutions, GLB121 and GLB122, were used to obtain Earth rotation parameters and baseline evolutions, respectively. Radio source positions were estimated globally while nutation offsets were estimated from each data set. The results include 25 sites and 108 baselines
Spectroscopic Constants and Vibrational Frequencies for l-C3H+ and Isotopologues from Highly-Accurate Quartic Force Fields: The Detection of l-C3H+ in the Horsehead Nebula PDR Questioned
Very recently, molecular rotational transitions observed in the
photon-dominated region of the Horsehead nebula have been attributed to l-C3H+.
In an effort to corroborate this finding, we employed state-of-the art and
proven high-accuracy quantum chemical techniques to compute spectroscopic
constants for this cation and its isotopologues. Even though the B rotational
constant from the fit of the observed spectrum and our computations agree to
within 20 MHz, a typical level of accuracy, the D rotational constant differs
by more than 40%, while the H rotational constant differs by three orders of
magnitude. With the likely errors in the rotational transition energies
resulting from this difference in D on the order of 1 MHz for the lowest
observed transition (J = 4 <- 3) and growing as J increases, the assignment of
the observed rotational lines from the Horsehead nebula to l-C3H+ is
questionable
Odyssey: a semi-automated pipeline for phasing, imputation, and analysis of genome-wide genetic data
BACKGROUND:
Genome imputation, admixture resolution and genome-wide association analyses are timely and computationally intensive processes with many composite and requisite steps. Analysis time increases further when building and installing the run programs required for these analyses. For scientists that may not be as versed in programing language, but want to perform these operations hands on, there is a lengthy learning curve to utilize the vast number of programs available for these analyses.
RESULTS:
In an effort to streamline the entire process with easy-to-use steps for scientists working with big data, the Odyssey pipeline was developed. Odyssey is a simplified, efficient, semi-automated genome-wide imputation and analysis pipeline, which prepares raw genetic data, performs pre-imputation quality control, phasing, imputation, post-imputation quality control, population stratification analysis, and genome-wide association with statistical data analysis, including result visualization. Odyssey is a pipeline that integrates programs such as PLINK, SHAPEIT, Eagle, IMPUTE, Minimac, and several R packages, to create a seamless, easy-to-use, and modular workflow controlled via a single user-friendly configuration file. Odyssey was built with compatibility in mind, and thus utilizes the Singularity container solution, which can be run on Linux, MacOS, and Windows platforms. It is also easily scalable from a simple desktop to a High-Performance System (HPS).
CONCLUSION:
Odyssey facilitates efficient and fast genome-wide association analysis automation and can go from raw genetic data to genome: phenome association visualization and analyses results in 3-8 h on average, depending on the input data, choice of programs within the pipeline and available computer resources. Odyssey was built to be flexible, portable, compatible, scalable, and easy to setup. Biologists less familiar with programing can now work hands on with their own big data using this easy-to-use pipeline
Older people, regeneration and health and well-being. Case study of Salford Partnership Board for Older People
This study sat within a national project aimed at demonstrating that expert knowledge housed within universities can make a positive impact in urban communities around four themes: Community Cohesion, Crime, Enterprise and Health & Wellbeing. It involved the Universities of Salford, Northumbria, Central Lancashire, Manchester Metropolitan University and Bradford. The project aimed to address key urban regeneration challenges in the North of England through inter-disciplinary collaboration between partner universities and practitioner organisations. It also sought to build a long term strategic alliance between core university partners.
Within each of the four project areas there were a number of smaller projects each focusing on the relationship between the theme and urban regeneration.
This study sought to establish how partnership boards for older people address the health and well being needs of people over 50 years of age including how health and wellbeing are defined; strategies older people adopt to change service providers' actions; learning by service providers about the involvement of older people on Boards; and how this influences practice. The main activity within this study was to interview Salford Partnership Board members. The findings informed further development of the Board

A unified model of the electrical power network
Traditionally, the different infrastructure layers, technologies and management activities associated with the design, control and protection operation of the Electrical Power Systems have been supported by numerous independent models of the real world network. As a result of increasing competition in this sector, however, the integration of technologies in the network and the coordination of complex management processes have become of vital importance for all electrical power companies.
The aim of the research outlined in this paper is to develop a single network model which will unify the generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure layers and the various alternative implementation technologies. This 'unified model' approach can support ,for example, network fault, reliability and performance analysis. This paper introduces the basic network structures, describes an object-oriented modelling approach and outlines possible applications of the unified model
The Possible Interstellar Anion CH2CN-: Spectroscopic Constants, Vibrational Frequencies, and Other Considerations
It is hypothesized that the A ^1B_1 <- X ^1A' excitation into the
dipole-bound state of the cyanomethyl anion (CH2CN-) is proposed as the carrier
for one diffuse interstellar band. However, this particular molecular system
has not been detected in the interstellar medium even though the related
cyanomethyl radical and the isoelectronic ketenimine molecule have been found.
In this study we are employing the use of proven quartic force fields and
second-order vibrational perturbation theory to compute accurate spectroscopic
constants and fundamental vibrational frequencies for ^1A' CH2CN- in order to
assist in laboratory studies and astronomical observations
