Two-Hop Routing with Traffic-Differentiation for QoS Guarantee in Wireless Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a Traffic-Differentiated Two-Hop Routing protocol for Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). It targets WSN applications having different types of data traffic with several priorities. The protocol achieves to increase Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and reduce end-to-end delay while considering multi-queue priority policy, two-hop neighborhood information, link reliability and power efficiency. The protocol is modular and utilizes effective methods for estimating the link metrics. Numerical results show that the proposed protocol is a feasible solution to addresses QoS service differenti- ation for traffic with different priorities.Comment: 13 page

Predicting the Brand Popularity from the Brand Metadata

    Get PDF
Social networks have become one of the primary sources of big data, where a variety of posts related to brands are liked, shared, and commented, which are collectively called as brand metadata. Due to the increased boom in E/M-commerce, buyers often refer the brand metadata as a valuable source of information to make their purchasing decision. From the literature study, we found that there are not many works on predicting the popularity of the brand based on the combination of brand metadata and comment’s thoughtfulness analysis. This paper proposes a novel framework to classify the comment’s as thoughtful favored or disfavored comment’s, and later combines them with the brand metadata to forecast the popularity of the brand in near future. The performance of the proposed framework is compared with some of the recent works w.r.t. thoughtful comment’s identification accuracy, execution time, prediction accuracy and prediction time, the results obtained are found to be very encouraging

Analysis of cell proliferation rate in Oral Leukoplakia and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

    Get PDF
Objectives: Assessment of the cell proliferation rate in tissues can be one of the markers for impending malignancy in precancers. The state of activation and the proliferation activity of the cells can be assessed by the frequency of silver stained Nucleolar Organiser regions (AgNOR) within the nuclei which is significantly higher in malignant cells. The present study was carried out to analyze the distribution of the AgNOR in oral leukoplakia (OL) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), and in their various histological grades, and to assess if the AgNOR distribution could give information on the malignant potentiality in premalignant lesions and aggressiveness of the malignant lesions. Study design: The study specimens comprised of 35 archival cases, of which 15 cases were of OL and 20 cases of OSCC. The specimens were stained by hematoxylin and eosin and modified silver staining method of Ploton et al. for the Nucleolar Organiser Regions. The specimens were analyzed independently by the two observers and was further statistically analysed. Results: The mean AgNOR count in OL was 2.80 ±0.50 and in cases of OSCC was 5.71± 1.08. The mean AgNOR count in OL cases of mild dysplasia was 2.59 ±0.66, in moderate dysplasia was 2.92± 0.43 and in severe dysplasia was 2.79. The mean AgNOR count in cases of well differentiated OSCC was 5.73± 1.62 and in cases of moderately differentiated OSCC was 5.67±1.19. Conclusion: The mean AgNOR count was higher in cases of OSCC as compared to cases of OL, and the AgNOR counts increased with the increase in the grades of dysplasia indicating a higher proliferative rate with increase in dysplasi

Chaotic to ordered state transition of cathode-sheath instabilities in DC glow discharge plasmas

    Get PDF
Transition from chaotic to ordered state has been observed during the initial stage of a discharge in a cylindrical dc glow discharge plasma. Initially it shows a chaotic behavior but increasing the discharge voltage changes the characteristics of the discharge glow and shows a period substraction of order 7 period \to 5 period \to3 period \to1 period i.e. the system goes to single mode through odd cycle subtraction. On further increasing the discharge voltage, the system goes through period doubling, like 1 period \to 2 period \to 4 period. On further increasing the voltage, the system goes to stable state without having any oscillations.Comment: chathode-sheath, instabilities, chaos, period-subtraction, bifurcation, dc-discharg

Nutrient addition effects on tropical dry forests: a mini-review from microbial to ecosystem scales.

Humans have more than doubled inputs of reactive nitrogen globally and greatly accelerated the biogeochemical cycles of phosphorus and metals. However, the impacts of increased element mobility on tropical ecosystems remain poorly quantified, particularly for the vast tropical dry forest biome. Tropical dry forests are characterized by marked seasonality, relatively little precipitation, and high heterogeneity in plant functional diversity and soil chemistry. For these reasons, increased nutrient deposition may affect tropical dry forests differently than wet tropical or temperate forests. Here, we review studies that investigated how nutrient availability affects ecosystem and community processes from the microsite to ecosystem scales in tropical dry forests. The effects of N and P addition on ecosystem carbon cycling and plant and microbial dynamics depend on forest successional stage, soil parent material, and rainfall regime. Responses may depend on whether overall productivity is N- vs. P-limited, although data to test this hypothesis are limited. These results highlight the many important gaps in our understanding of tropical dry forest responses to global change. Large-scale experiments are required to resolve these uncertainties
