    Recompensa, um motorista para a criatividade; papel mediador das avaliações de recompensa entre auto eficácia e desempenho criativo

    The purpose of this dyadic study was to explore the insight that trigger the creative performance. For such purpose self-efficacy and rewards in shape of challenge and threat appraisal were used. A Survey was conducted to collect the data from the public and private sector organizations related to technical education in Punjab. Sample was the faculty member working on positions of instructors, senior instructor and lectures. A total of 302 respondents were analyzed. The results of the analysis show that there is significant relationship among self-efficacy and creative performance. The mediation analysis also shows that challenge appraisal of rewards for creativity and threat appraisal of reward also worked as mediator. Consequently, we reached at the point that having high level of self-efficacy, individuals in technical education organizations appraises the reward as a challenge and perform creatively. And on the other side having low level of self-efficacy, but appraising the Reward as a threat, tends to impact negatively on creative performance.El propósito de este estudio diádico fue explorar la información que desencadena el rendimiento creativo. Para tal fin se utilizaron la autoeficacia y las recompensas en forma de desafío y evaluación de amenazas. Se realizó una encuesta para recopilar los datos de las organizaciones del sector público y privado relacionadas con la educación técnica en Punjab. La muestra fue el miembro de la facultad que trabaja en posiciones de instructores, instructor senior y conferencias. Se analizaron un total de 302 encuestados. Los resultados del análisis muestran que existe una relación significativa entre la autoeficacia y el rendimiento creativo. El análisis de la mediación también muestra que la evaluación desafiante de las recompensas por la creatividad y la evaluación de la amenaza de recompensa también funcionó como mediador. En consecuencia, llegamos al punto en que, al tener un alto nivel de autoeficacia, los individuos en las organizaciones de educación técnica valoran la recompensa como un desafío y se desempeñan de manera creativa. Por otro lado, tiene un bajo nivel de autoeficacia, pero evaluar la recompensa como una amenaza, tiende a tener un impacto negativo en el rendimiento creativo.O objetivo deste estudo diádico foi explorar a percepção que aciona o desempenho criativo. Para esse propósito, a auto-eficácia e as recompensas em forma de desafio e avaliação de ameaça foram usadas. Uma pesquisa foi realizada para coletar os dados das organizações do setor público e privado relacionadas à educação técnica em Punjab. Amostra foi o membro do corpo docente trabalhando em posições de instrutores, instrutor sênior e palestras. Um total de 302 respondentes foi analisado. Os resultados da análise mostram que existe uma relação significativa entre autoeficácia e desempenho criativo. A análise da mediação também mostra que a avaliação de recompensas de recompensas por criatividade e avaliação de ameaças de recompensa também funcionou como mediador. Consequentemente, chegamos ao ponto em que, tendo alto nível de autoeficácia, indivíduos em organizações de educação técnica avaliam a recompensa como um desafio e realizam de forma criativa. Por outro lado, ter baixo nível de autoeficácia, mas avaliar a recompensa como uma ameaça, tende a impactar negativamente no desempenho criativo

    Due to the unprecedented happenings and dynamic conditions of international economic system, firms are always at the verge of bankruptcy no matter how sound they are, their sustainability is always in jeopardy. Besides, lenders are continuously raising red flags and giving consistent warnings about possible perils of corporate failure due to fragile economic conditions and increasing debt levels in both corporate and individual businesses these days. Hence there was an exigency to ‘develop indicators for monitoring long term progress and sustainability of companies. Thereof it would contribute in illustrating to business analysts, firm stakeholders about the relevance of embracing these active checks for predicting bankruptcy as a sustainable business practice. This created a bizarre cult to look into the matter seriously. For this there is no mantra, no clever feats, sure-fire quick strategies. Instead there are well-defined, simple, systematic and sophisticated models to assess sustainability of companies. Thus, to avoid the tide of massive/substantial corporate failure and any future catastrophe; there is a dire need to identify the most suitable and preeminent model that can truly forecast the likelihood of default ahead of time in given circumstances. And, mainstay of this study is to provide an answer of question in hand by comparing two most venerable model choices i.e. Altman’s Z-score and Z double prime (Z”)

    The Impact of Olive Oil and Mediterranean Diet on the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases

    The Mediterranean diet has a lot of health benefits but especially because it lowers the incidence of cardiovascular diseases. It has been shown that food components, certain nutrients and the pattern of the diet lowers the risk of several diseases such as diabetes, certain cancers, obesity, respiratory disorders, mental health and cognitive decline, bone diseases (osteoarthritis), healthy aging and quality of life among more others. It has been concluded from studying the mechanism responsible for lowering these risks that food combinations, food nutrients, presence of non-nutritive substances, lifestyles habits and the cooking techniques all together make the Mediterranean dietary pattern into a tool that can not only prevent but can also be used as a way of treatment for these medical ailments. As part of the essential dietary fat, consumption of extra virgin olive oil is the main feature of Mediterranean diet. Olive oil is noted to have anti-bacterial characteristics, involved in improving the endothelial function in young females, and is hypothesized to have epigenetic effects interplay offering protection from cancers due to the presence of beneficial monounsaturated fats. The presence of antioxidants contributes to the inflammation protecting properties of the olive oil. Olive oil has high quantities of antioxidants and offers numerous benefits for cardiovascular health, such as protection of LDL from oxidation and lowering of the high blood pressure as well as offers protection from diabetes mellitus. The Mediterranean diet and the Olive oil consumption also have a fundamental impact in secondary prevention, such as in patients with atrial fibrillation that underwent catheter ablation

    Does gender affect the outcomes of diversity training effectiveness?:An Australian empirical study

    Purpose – This study investigates whether the impact of effectiveness of diversity training on affective commitment is different for men vs. women. Moreover, whether affective commitment mediates the relationship between effectiveness of diversity training and employee outcomes of turnover intention and job satisfaction. Design/Methodology/Approach – The data was collected from 154 employees working in an Australian manufacturing organization by using an employee survey. Structural equation modelling was used to analyses the data using Amos. Findings – The results of this study support the proposed hypotheses, demonstrating a significant indirect effect of effective diversity training on job satisfaction and turnover intention via affective commitment. Moreover, gender moderates the relationship between effective diversity training and affective commitment. Research Implications – This study suggests that organization can enhance job satisfaction and reduce turnover intention by providing effective diversity training to employees. Originality/Value – It proposes and tests the moderating effect of gender on a relationship between effective diversity training and affective commitment. Moreover, it tests the indirect effect of effective diversity training on job satisfaction and turnover intention via affective commitment

    Training effectiveness and employee outcomes: A study of an Australian manufacturing organization

    Purpose: This study aims to investigate whether the impact of effectiveness of diversity training on affective commitment is different for men versus women and whether affective commitment mediates the relationship between effectiveness of diversity training and employee outcomes of turnover intention and job satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach: The data were collected from 134 employees working in an Australian manufacturing organization by using an employee survey. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data using AMOS. Findings: The results of this study support the proposed hypotheses, demonstrating a significant, indirect effect of effective diversity training on job satisfaction and turnover intention via affective commitment. Moreover, gender moderates the relationship between effective diversity training and affective commitment. Practical implications: The findings suggest that organizations can enhance affective commitment and job satisfaction and reduce turnover intention by providing effective diversity training to employees. Gender of employees should also be considered when evaluating the effectiveness of training. Originality/value: This study provides pioneering evidence of the following relationships: diversity training effectiveness and turnover intention via affective commitment; diversity training effectiveness and job satisfaction via affective commitment; and diversity training effectiveness and affective commitment for men versus women.</p

    Engaged Versus Workaholic Employees Job Crafting Behavior: The Moderating Role of Perceived Organization Support

    Purpose: Making jobs challenging and interesting is becoming a new trend in organizations and is related to job crafting behavior. Employees with different sort of wellbeing predict diverse crafting behaviors. This study is about making comparisons between the two states of wellbeing that can be differentiated on theoretical backgrounds: work engagement and work holism. Specifically, both well beings may differently predict job crafting behavior Design/Methodology/Approach: This study was quantitative in nature and applied on a sample of 285 faculty members working in higher education institutions in Pakistan. Further, the moderating effect of perceived organizational support was tested by using the SEM-AMOS. Findings: The findings revealed that engaged employees always craft their jobs even if they don’t perceive considerable support from their organizations. But the employees who are workaholic, do not usually craft their jobs, but adopt job crafting behavior when they perceive an organizational support. Implications/Originality/Value: This study points towards an important theoretical connection between employee wellbeing and job crafting behavior. It concludes that employee wellbeing is essential for job crafting and, specifically, for workaholic employees, perceived organizational support is also important

    Over the course of the year, the study of engaged employees has drawn increased attention. In accordance with the social learning theory, people pick up skills from verbal, symbolic, and living role models through their behaviors. Through the use of employee perceptions of corporate social responsibility as a mediator, this research seeks to inspect the connection between participatory leadership and engagement of employees. The study is unusual because it examines the underlying mechanism between participatory leadership and commitment using employee perceived CSR as a mediator for the first time in literature. The 348 replies were gathered from hotel industry workers. The outcomes were analyzed using a structural equation modelling approach. The findings demonstrated a strong correlation between participatory leadership and employee engagement. Employee perception of CSR plays a factor in mediating the influence of participatory leadership on engagement of employees. This article explores the responsibilities of participative leaders and their influence on employee engagement using motivational and multilevel perspectives, with the mediation function of employee perception of CSR. This study has important ramifications for businesses and managers, particularly in terms of increasing employee engagement

    Does Ethical Leadership Contribute towards Organizational Commitment? A Mediational Study of Employees in Hotel Industry

    Purpose: This study assesses how perceived corporate social responsibility by employees’ functions as a mediator between organizational commitment and moral leadership. Design/Methodology/Approach: According to the social exchange theory, there is reciprocation between an employee and their employer, and how an employer conducts business shapes the perspective of its employees. Employees follow the same activities and behaviors that the corporation does. 348 front-line hotel employees in Pakistan provided the information. To test the data, structural equation modeling was used. Findings: The findings show that a leader's moral and ethical behavior influences how employees view a firm's CSR and how committed they are to the organization. Results exhibit that when workers witness their supervisors performing ethically, it affects their attitudes and makes them more dedicated to their businesses. Implications/Originality/Value: The study is distinctive in that by utilizing employee views of CSR as a mediator, the relationship between leadership and commitment was explored. The study has essential management and organizational ramifications, particularly for increasing employee engagement

    Testing the Reciprocal Relationship between Work Engagement and Job Crafting Behavior with the Mediating Role of Psychological Capital

    Purpose: The prevalence of crafting tasks in the workplace is rising in today's enterprises. Little is known about the underlying mechanisms of job crafting as of now. In this study, we examine how psychological capital plays a mediating role in the reciprocal relationship between job crafting and work engagement. Design/Methodology/Approach: The necessary information for the analysis was gathered from Pakistani higher education institution faculty members, with a sample size of 240 faculty members. To test these hypotheses, we employed SmartPLS. Findings: The study's conclusions show that psychological capital plays a role in mediating the reciprocal relationship between work engagement and job crafting. According to this study a person who is confident, hopeful, resilient, and self-efficient asks for more job resources and challenges at work. Implications/Originality/Value: By examining the reciprocal association between work engagement and job crafting behavior among Pakistani academic members, the study genuinely contributes in policy designing for employees who are more engaged at work and having high psychological capital are more motivated to craft their jobs at work

    Prevalence of multi drug resistant organism in ICU burns patients at tertiary care hospital

    Burns carries a high risk of mortality and morbidity. This with increased chances of drug-resistant infections makes the management complicated. Hence this study was conducted to find out the prevalence of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) in burns patients admitted to the intensive care unit at a tertiary care hospital. A 2-year retrospective study was conducted where burn patients reporting MDRO were included. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 26 where a p-value \u3c0.05 was considered statistically significant. Out of 97 patients, tissue cultures of 65 patients revealed the presence of MDRO in 27 (27.8%) patients. A male predominance (17, 63.0%) was noted with a mean age of 29.0-year-old. Fire burn (15, 55.6%) was reported to be the most common cause of burn with an average of 29.9% of Total Body Surface Area (TBSA) involved. MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the commonest organism reported in 12 (44%) patients. The average length of stay (LOS) was noted to be 11.3 days with a mortality rate of 48.1% (Overall, in all MDRO\u27S infections). Patients who reported MDRO showed a tendency for longer hospitalization with a higher risk of mortality as the TBSA increased. However, in presence of other factors in burns like higher TBSA, inhalation injury and lack of advanced skin substitute these mortality figures, and their association can be debated. Lastly, the implementation of control measures, as basic as hand hygiene, should be partaken to reduce the burden of MDR infections
