Visualization and analysis of balancing of the slider-crank mechanism on an elastic foundation in the mining tunneling machines

    Get PDF
The research rationale aimed at development and use of the slider-crank mechanism in the mining equipment is justified. The advantages, as well as functional, engineering and technological features are determined for the feeder in the tunneling machine. The development ways of the structural design solutions of the slider-crank mechanism in the mining machines are specified. The analysis for balancing of the mechanism on an elastic foundation with special pendulums attached to the crankshaft is done. The calculations to justify balancing using the pendulum are done. Modeling of the slider-crank mechanism is realized

Oxidation of 3-carene with mercuric acetate

The oxidation of 3-carene with mercuric acetate was studied. The oxidative acetylation of 3-carene with mercuric acetate leads to a less complex mixture of products than oxidation with lead tetraacetate. The main products are p-mentha-l,5-dien-8-ol and, in smaller amount, p-isopropenyltoluene. © 1966 Consultants Bureau Enterprises, Inc

    Conformation of 2,3-caranediols and 3-hydroxy-2-caranones

    1. The hydroxyl groups in 2β,3α-caranediol occupy diaxial positions, and those in 2α,3β-caranediol occupy diequatorial positions. 2. 2α,3α-Caranediol and 2β,3β-caranediol exist predominantly in forms with an axial tertiary OH group and a quasiequatorial OH group. 3. The six-membered ring in 3β- and 3α-hydroxy-2-caranone has been ascribed a conformation intermediate between the half-chair and the boat conformation with a quasiequatorial OH group in the former species and a predominantly quasiaxial OH group in the latter species. © 1980 Plenum Publishing Corporation

FEATURES OF IMMUNOCOMPETENT CELLS IN THE PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC LYMPHOCYTIC LEUKEMIA AT PRIMARY DIAGNOSIS

    Get PDF
Some basic parameters of immune profile have been investigated in 140 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). There was shown that the cohort of CLL patients is heterogeneous for their immune profile as early as at primary diagnosis stage, showing sufficient differences in the numbers of immunocompetent cells in peripheral blood. In most cases, the interpretation of appropriate quantitative characteristics is quite difficult, if based on the conventional criteria. The numbers of activated T-lymphocytes and NK-cells were proven to be the most informative parameters of cellular immunity in this cohort. Progression of leukemic events shows a close association with only a single parameter under study, i.e., CD4+/CD8+ cell ratio

Kichatova et al.Amino acid substitutions R70Q/H and L91M in HCV subtype 1b core protein can affect the response to interferon and are associated with the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. We found that the rate of R70Q/H in HCV 1b from Russia was 31.2%, similar to that in HCV strains from Asia (34.0%), higher than that in the European (18.0%, p=0.0010), but lower than that in the US HCV 1b strains (62.8%, p<0.0001). Substitution L91M was found in 80.4% of the Russian HCV 1b isolates, higher than in Asian isolates (43.8%, p<0.0001). Thus, a significant proportion of Russian HCV 1b isolates carry the unfavorable R70Q/H and/or L91M substitution. In silico analysis of the epitopic structure of the regions of substitutions revealed that both harbor clusters of T-cell epitopes. Peptides encompassing these regions were predicted to bind to a panel of HLA class I molecules, with substitutions impairing peptide recognition by HLA I molecules of the alleles prevalent in Russia. This indicates that HCV 1b with R70Q/H and L91M substitutions may have evolved as the immune escape variants. Impairment of T-cell recognition may play a part in the negative effect of these substitutions on the response to IFN treatment.Peer reviewe

Mirror-symmetry protected non-TRIM surface state in the weak topological insulator Bi2TeI

    Get PDF
Strong topological insulators (TIs) support topological surfaces states on any crystal surface. In contrast, a weak, time-reversal-symmetry-driven TI with at least one non-zero v1, v2, v3 ℤ2 index should host spin-locked topological surface states on the surfaces that are not parallel to the crystal plane with Miller indices (v1 v2 v3). On the other hand, mirror symmetry can protect an even number of topological states on the surfaces that are perpendicular to a mirror plane. Various symmetries in a bulk material with a band inversion can independently preordain distinct crystal planes for realization of topological states. Here we demonstrate the first instance of coexistence of both phenomena in the weak 3D TI Bi2TeI which (v1 v2 v3) surface hosts a gapless spin-split surface state protected by the crystal mirror-symmetry. The observed topological state has an even number of crossing points in the directions of the 2D Brillouin zone due to a non-TRIM bulk-band inversion. Our findings shed light on hitherto uncharted features of the electronic structure of weak topological insulators and open up new vistas for applications of these materials in spintronics

Assessment of epidemiological and epizootiological situation on tularemia in the Republic of tatarstan

    Get PDF
Objective of the study was to assess epidemiological and epizootiological activity of natural tularemia foci in the Republic of Tatarstan for further forecasting of the developments and working out the tactics for implementation of preventive and anti-epidemic measures. Materials and methods. We utilized statistical data, reports of the Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Republic of Tatarstan, and literature sources for the analysis. Results and conclusions. Since 1995, the incidence among the population in Tatarstan has not been registered. Natural tularemia foci are situated in 19 enzootic as regards the infection administrative districts in the territory of the Republic. Epizootiological monitoring of the natural foci suggests that over the last four years their activation occurred. In this contest realization of complex anti-epidemic  measures,  regulated  by  the  current  normative-methodological  documents  remains  relevant,  as  well  as timely and effective diagnostics, including among the patients with a similar to tularemia symptoms
