    Trends of the major porin gene (ompF) evolution

    OmpF is one of the major general porins of Enterobacteriaceae that belongs to the first line of bacterial defense and interactions with the biotic as well as abiotic environments. Porins are surface exposed and their structures strongly reflect the history of multiple interactions with the environmental challenges. Unfortunately, little is known on diversity of porin genes of Enterobacteriaceae and the genus Yersinia especially. We analyzed the sequences of the ompF gene from 73 Yersinia strains covering 14 known species. The phylogenetic analysis placed most of the Yersinia strains in the same line assigned by 16S rDNA-gyrB tree. Very high congruence in the tree topologies was observed for Y. enterocolitica, Y. kristensenii, Y. ruckeri, indicating that intragenic recombination in these species had no effect on the ompF gene. A significant level of intra- and interspecies recombination was found for Y. aleksiciae, Y. intermedia and Y. mollaretii. Our analysis shows that the ompF gene of Yersinia has evolved with nonrandom mutational rate under purifying selection. However, several surface loops in the OmpF porin contain positively selected sites, which very likely reflect adaptive diversification Yersinia to their ecological niches. To our knowledge, this is a first investigation of diversity of the porin gene covering the whole genus of the family Enterobacteriaceae. This study demonstrates that recombination and positive selection both contribute to evolution of ompF, but the relative contribution of these evolutionary forces are different among Yersinia species

    Appeared in 1826, the photography has been much developed so far. Being mostly used for pragmatic purposes at the dawn of its existence, today, the photography is not only art, but also serves to depict a person at a certain point in time and even for personal identification. The photographs are used as evidence and as technical means of reproduction of other works of authorship. However, although the photographs have always been tacitly divided into informative and aesthetic ones, and various legal regimes of photography have already been enshrined in the Russian legislation, it is still not really clear how all those regimes relate to each other. Trying to answer that question the authors reveal problems and gaps existing in the current Russian regulation of photographs and make some proposals that could be useful for both the scientists when furthering the discussion on the topic and the legislator when developing the existing rules

    Molecular Evolution of the Yersinia Major Outer Membrane Protein C (OmpC)

    The genus Yersinia includes species with a wide range of eukaryotic hosts (from fish, insects, and plants to mammals and humans). One of the major outer membrane proteins, the porin OmpC, is preferentially expressed in the host gut, where osmotic pressure, temperature, and the concentrations of nutrients and toxic products are relatively high. We consider here the molecular evolution and phylogeny of Yersinia ompC. The maximum likelihood gene tree reflects the macroevolution processes occurring within the genus Yersinia. Positive selection and horizontal gene transfer are the key factors of ompC diversification, and intraspecies recombination was revealed in two Yersinia species. The impact of recombination on ompC evolution was different from that of another major porin gene, ompF, possibly due to the emergence of additional functions and conservation of the basic transport function. The predicted antigenic determinants of OmpC were located in rapidly evolving regions, which may indicate the evolutionary mechanisms of Yersinia adaptation to the host immune system

    Adaptive responses of outer membrane porin balance of Yersinia ruckeri under different incubation temperature, osmolarity, and oxygen availability

    The capability of Yersinia ruckeri to survive in the aquatic systems reflects its adaptation (most importantly through the alteration of membrane permeability) to the unfavorable environments. The nonspecific porins are a key factor contributing to the permeability. Here we studied the influence of the stimuli, such as temperature, osmolarity, and oxygen availability on regulation of Y.ruckeri porins. Using qRT-PCR and SDS-PAGE methods we found that major porins are tightly controlled by temperature. Hyperosmosis did not repress OmpF production. The limitation of oxygen availability led to decreased expression of both major porins and increased transcription of the minor porin OmpY. Regulation of the porin balance in Y.ruckeri, in spite of some similarities, diverges from that system in Escherichia coli. The changes in porin regulation can be adapted in Y.ruckeri in a species-specific manner determined by its aquatic habitats

    Genome-Wide Mycobacterium tuberculosis Variation (GMTV) Database: A New Tool for Integrating Sequence Variations and Epidemiology

    Background Tuberculosis (TB) poses a worldwide threat due to advancing multidrug-resistant strains and deadly co-infections with Human immunodeficiency virus. Today large amounts of Mycobacterium tuberculosis whole genome sequencing data are being assessed broadly and yet there exists no comprehensive online resource that connects M. tuberculosis genome variants with geographic origin, with drug resistance or with clinical outcome. Description Here we describe a broadly inclusive unifying Genome-wide Mycobacterium tuberculosis Variation (GMTV) database, (http://mtb.dobzhanskycenter.org) that catalogues genome variations of M. tuberculosis strains collected across Russia. GMTV contains a broad spectrum of data derived from different sources and related to M. tuberculosis molecular biology, epidemiology, TB clinical outcome, year and place of isolation, drug resistance profiles and displays the variants across the genome using a dedicated genome browser. GMTV database, which includes 1084 genomes and over 69,000 SNP or Indel variants, can be queried about M. tuberculosis genome variation and putative associations with drug resistance, geographical origin, and clinical stages and outcomes. Conclusions Implementation of GMTV tracks the pattern of changes of M. tuberculosis strains in different geographical areas, facilitates disease gene discoveries associated with drug resistance or different clinical sequelae, and automates comparative genomic analyses among M. tuberculosis strains

    Bakgrund:Bröstcancer är en vanlig sjukdom bland kvinnor och allt mer flera kvinnor drabbas. Det finns olika typer av bröstcancerbehandlingar. Alla behandlingar kan medföra biverkningar som kan påverka kvinnor både psykiskt och fysiskt. Sjuksköterskans roll och ansvar är att uppmärksamma dessa kvinnor i de olika stadierna av bröstcancer för att kunna ha koll på kvinnornas mående.Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva kvinnors upplevelser av att leva med bröstcancer.Metod:Studien är en litteraturöversikts studie med kvalitativ och kvantitativ metod och består av 10 artiklar. Resultat: Består av ett huvudämne med två underteman och fyra subteman. Som visade att kvinnor upplevde att kroppslig förändring av bröstcancer och som resulterade i sociala konsekvenser. Konklusion: Studien visar att kvinnorna är i behov av ett stöd efter behandlingen av bröstcancer och att de upplever att den kroppsliga förändringen ger en stor påverkan i deras liv och vardag
