Perpetuation or Decline? The German Theatre in Sibiu at the Turning Point 1918

    Get PDF
The present paper focuses on the German theatre in Sibiu at the turning point of the year 1918. It first examins the context of the theatre within the Habsburg  monarchy, its settings and the networking with other German-speaking theatres. Then it presents Leo Bauer as the long-standing director of the German  theatre in Sibiu, switching to the overthrow of the theatre and its chances of survival within the new boundaries after the proclamation of the union of  Transylvania with Romania

A Methodology for Adaptive Competence Assessment and Learning Path Creation in ISAC

    Get PDF
In this paper a technique is presented how to realise adaptive competence assessment and the creation of adaptive learning paths for the ISAC system. ISAC is an intelligent tutoring system which supports the learner in solving problems in applied mathematics. It is able to monitor and support the learner in each calculation step. However, it does not support building user and competence profiles and sequencing of problems and learning objects based on the personal needs. Therefore, a technique has been developed and integrated with ISAC, which allows for assessing the competence profile of learners and creating learning paths adaptively based on the assessed competences. Development has been done in a modular way which also provides other features such as goal setting and visual feedback of skill gaps and progress

1961-90 HIGH RESOLUTION TEMPERATURE, PRECIPITATION, AND SOLAR RADIATION CLIMATOLOGIES FOR ITALY

    Get PDF
This PhD thesis focuses on the construction of monthly 30-arc-second resolution temperature, precipitation, and solar radiation 1961-90 climatologies for Italy and on the superimposition of the information of the secular anomaly records to these climatologies. The minimum, mean, and maximum temperature climatologies are based on a quality-checked new 1961-90 dataset for Italy that includes 1,493 TM records and 1,138 TN-TX records; they have been obtained by means of a Multiple Linear Regression model, plus local and global improvements and a Geographical Inverse Distance Gaussian Weighting of the residuals. The final monthly average MAE is 0.65 \ub0C for TM, 0.91 \ub0C for TN, 0.81 \ub0C for TX. The precipitation climatologies are based on a quality-checked new 1961-90 dataset for Italy that includes more than 4,000 precipitation totals; they have been obtained by means of a PRISM model. The relative MAE for yearly total precipitation is approximately 10%. Further work is under development in order to improve both the database and the models. Examples of new reconstructed temperature and precipitation secular records for 1851-2010 are shown and the methodology used to obtain a secular record for each grid point is described. The solar radiation climatologies are obtained by means of a solar radiation model based on a quality-checked new dataset for Italy that includes more than 150 sunshine duration records. The solar radiation model is created on the basis of astronomical parameters, shading effects, albedo tables and turbidity Linke\u2019s factor: monthly 1961-90 grids for direct, diffuse, reflected, absorbed, and global radiation are obtained. The final monthly average relative MAE is 4.6%

Effect of Therapeutic Play on Level of Pain during Intravenous Cannulation among Children

The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of therapeutic play during intravenous cannulation on level of pain among children admitted in a selected hospital and to find the association between study variables and selected socio-demographic variables. A quantitative evaluative research approach with nonequivalent posttest only control group design was used for the study. Non-probability purposive sampling technique was used. Data was collected and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Collected data were planned for analysis by using the frequency distribution, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Out of 40 samples, regarding age majority 45% were 4-5 years in control group and 45% were 3-4 years in experimental group. Regarding gender majority were boys in both control 60% and experimental group 75%. Regarding behavioural response to IV cannulation majority 95% were having cry in control group, whereas majority 55% were having fear in experimental group. The level of pain of both control and experimental group was assessed by using Wong Baker’s Faces Pain rating scale. The statistical significance was assessed, student ‘t’ test was used to test the effectiveness of nursing intervention between the group and it was 2.135 and was found significant at p<0.05 level of significance. This indicated that the nursing intervention was significantly effective to reduce the level of pain during intravenous cannulation among the experimental group. There was no significant association found between the demographic variables and level of pain. Thus, the study highlights that therapeutic play is effective in reduction of pain during intravenous cannulation

Guest Editorial Special Issue on Integrated Sensing and Communication-Part I

    Get PDF
Driving a gradual integration of the physical and digital worlds is perceived to become a reality in the 6G era, from vehicles to drones, from surveillance facilities in cities to agricultural tools in the countryside. Jointly motivated by recent advances in communication and signal processing, radio sensing functionality can be integrated into a 6G radio access network (RAN) in a low-cost and fast manner. That is, future networks have the ability to “see” the physical world through imaging and measuring the surrounding environment, which enables advanced location-aware services, ranging from the physical to application layers. In essence, a radio emission could simultaneously convey communication data from the transmitter to the receiver and deliver environmental information from the scattered echoes. Therefore, sensing and communication (S&C) functionalities are possible to be co-designed to utilize resources efficiently and to assist each other for mutual benefits. This type of research is typically referred to as integrated sensing and communication (ISAC)

Stand-up Comedy: Origins, Development, Education, and Romanian Perspectives of a Comic Form

Humor is a very powerful weapon, it can change mentalities, induce ideas, propose new behaviors. The stand-up comedy phenomenon has taken a strong lead, it is enjoyed and consumed by a large and diverse audience. By briefly analyzing the genre, the history and emergence of the phenomenon and its development, in social and educational contexts, this paper tries to contribute to understanding the importance of producing quality comedy, avoiding not only the distortion of the artistic act, but also the decay of society. Some Romanian Perspectives of this comic form are also analyzed

Bilateral relations between the United Mexican States and the European Union. A case of study of the Erasmus mundus program and its impact on mexican students

    Get PDF
The aim of this research is to analyze if the implementation of the Erasmus Mundus program has created a positive impact on the bilateral relations between the United Mexican States and the European Union in the time frame that goes from 2009 to 2014. The hypothesis that this research is pursuing is if bilateral relations have created a positive impact by implementing the Erasmus Mundus program. This is a longitudinal quantitative and analytical research. Primary sources such as dictionaries, books and scientific journals and secondary sources such as articles and researches are used in order to obtain all the desired information. The source and data analysis are made by descriptive statistics that allow to create a good description of the particular objects. To represent the results obtained there are presented tables and graphics that shown the quantity of Mexican applications in the period that goes from 2009 to 2014. 11% of Mexican applicants are accepted, this is a considerable percentage but there is still so much more to do in order to improve these programs because without any question academic exchange programs allow the progress of a better quality of life and for those who can expand their horizons it makes a better life, a better present and future
