Employment, Knowledge and Latrine Ownership as Risk Factors and Prediction Model of Diarrhea Incidence

Diarrhea is a leading cause of death ranked 3rd after Tuberculosis and Pneumonia in Indonesia. Diarrhea cases in NTT province and also in Kupang City is still high, with Pasir Panjang PHC in 2012 and 2013 ranked the top three, while Oepoi PHC always the lowest rank. This research was conducted to analyze the risk factors for the incidence of diarrhea and create a model equation to predict the diarrhea incidence. This observational analytic research using case control design. Samples with diarrhea cases were recorded in January - June 2015 in the register book Pasir Panjang PHC and Oepoi PHC taken by random sampling to obtain samples for cases 62 children of Diarrhea patient. The control samples are 62 children who are not registered as suffering from diarrhea in the month of June 2015, close to the patient\u27s house, and her mother or people who responsible to take care that children want as respondent. Data were obtained by interviews with the mothers of cases and controls using questionnaires and direct observation using a checklist. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate and multivariate logistic regression. There are three variables that significantly affect to the diarrhea incidence, namely employment, knowledge and latrine ownership and the most dominant variable influence that is knowledge (OR 4.353). The model equation Y = - 2.048 +1.153 employment + 1.483 knowledge + 1.480 latrine ownership with a percentage accuracy of the model in classifying observations is 68.5%

There are a number of cross-cultural differences in people's perspectives of what constitutes physical abuse of children. The focus of the present study was to explore the British Pakistani community's perception about physical child abuse and to understand more about the values held by them in relation to child protection. The study aimed to discover issues that are important to protect the children from harm, and to describe the possibilities these issues present. The study used a questionnaire survey that focused on 16-25-year-old British Pakistani's, exploring their experiences of childhood, of physical punishment and physical child abuse. The findings indicated that although serious child abuse was not experienced by most of the respondents, 75% of respondents experienced some kind of physical punishment as part of their childhood experience. However, 72% of respondents who received such punishment in childhood accepted it as an appropriate disciplining method. The future research and policy implications with prevention in mind are discussed.</p

A Survey of Techniques for Improving Security of GPUs

Graphics processing unit (GPU), although a powerful performance-booster, also has many security vulnerabilities. Due to these, the GPU can act as a safe-haven for stealthy malware and the weakest `link' in the security `chain'. In this paper, we present a survey of techniques for analyzing and improving GPU security. We classify the works on key attributes to highlight their similarities and differences. More than informing users and researchers about GPU security techniques, this survey aims to increase their awareness about GPU security vulnerabilities and potential countermeasures

An institution that has so many students, the student becomes a problem to be solved so that the necessary calculations and notes that the detailed and easily understood. New admissions system in which LPBI Yukti Darma is still produced. Especially in matters relating to the reports to the chairman of the foundation LPBI Yukti Darma. In this case it is necessary to use the computer as a tool in data processing. Admissions system at Darma Yukti LBPI Paradiguna admissions procedures which are carried out continuously in the quarter, revenue was comprised of students: Registration, Test, Level. The author makes admission system that can perform calculations based on the level payment amount, so that this system can be used in future to come

Running system at PT Tirta Buana Sianr data processing was still manually so that it requires precision and a long time to process all that is necessary to reduce the working efficiency of civil service recruitment process so that in addressing these problems can be computerized as in data processing can be done automatically. Implementation of recruitment processes in PT Sinar Tirta Buana implemented carefully to obtain high quality human resources to support the company's productivity. number of applications coming into the company caused the company be more selective in choosing prospective workers (employees), and for prospective workers (employees) that cause a sense of competitiveness among prospective workers (employees)

Finding Temporally Consistent Occlusion Boundaries in Videos using Geometric Context

We present an algorithm for finding temporally consistent occlusion boundaries in videos to support segmentation of dynamic scenes. We learn occlusion boundaries in a pairwise Markov random field (MRF) framework. We first estimate the probability of an spatio-temporal edge being an occlusion boundary by using appearance, flow, and geometric features. Next, we enforce occlusion boundary continuity in a MRF model by learning pairwise occlusion probabilities using a random forest. Then, we temporally smooth boundaries to remove temporal inconsistencies in occlusion boundary estimation. Our proposed framework provides an efficient approach for finding temporally consistent occlusion boundaries in video by utilizing causality, redundancy in videos, and semantic layout of the scene. We have developed a dataset with fully annotated ground-truth occlusion boundaries of over 30 videos ($5000 frames). This dataset is used to evaluate temporal occlusion boundaries and provides a much needed baseline for future studies. We perform experiments to demonstrate the role of scene layout, and temporal information for occlusion reasoning in dynamic scenes.Comment: Applications of Computer Vision (WACV), 2015 IEEE Winter Conference o

    Scientific Thinking in Historical Perspective

We talk of scientific temper today in the context of Nehru's overt commitment to the idea. It can be safely said that scientific temper is also one of the important Nehruvian policy legacies which we inherited and have always tried to keep alive, of course, not as successfully as we would have liked it to be. Most of the times it gets embroiled in confrontation with faith and all sorts of arguments, for and against, are exchanged between the votaries of each of them. We tend to forget, in the heat of arguments, that people of faith have played crucial role in the progress of science from times immemorial, including modern science as well. It is not a question of either/or, just a reconciliation of the two. Religions have also been emancipatory in intent, as was the case with Islam in the early centuries and before it got institutionalized and mired in superstitions. I will try to engage with some of the related issues in historical context, a period when the term scientific temper was not around, yet there were a large number of autodidacts and intellectuals who appealed for a rational approach in our daily lives and also disseminated modern science in local language. They used science to fight against dogmas and superstitions proclaimed in the name of religions

Regression Analysis And Simple Linear Correlation Forecast Reservation For Goods Using Turbo Pascal

In economic and business development, problems of uncertainty is a problem that always faced by the business and economic such as in predicting the volume and sales results for future periods. The role of statistics in economics and business is so good because statistics help companies especially the leadership in making decisions. In a decision the leadership must connect it with other factors such as power factor competition. To overcome this can be done using a statistical method in forecasting the value mencar ordering of goods is by simple linear regression and correlation
