The article deals with the features of locating multi-functional residential complexes of various types in the urban conditions of the UAE. With the existing social differentiation in modern society, there is a need for design development and implementation of multi-functional residential complexes. All modern multi-functional residential complexes with services in the UAE are designed exclusively for people with high income. At the same time, practically, there are no multi-functional residential complexes with services for people with a small or medium income level. Constantly changing socio-economic factors of human life push to search for new promising ways to improve multi-functional housing and associated services. The author describes the optimal characteristics of different types of multi-functional residential complexes for different social groups of the population and the location of the multi-functional residential complexes depending on the distribution of these social groups in the cities of the UAE. Multi-functional residential complexes for people with high and medium incomes are considered. Through analyzing a limited sample of residential structures from various Emirates of the UAE, a regularity has been observed, indicating an optimal residential area per person in the UAE. In addition, optimal functional components for each type of such residential complexes are proposed. The criteria for locating them on different territories of cities are considered.

In article modern problems of space-planning, constructive solutions of modern perspective multipurpose housing estates in the conditions of a hot arid climate, with emphasis on national features of the United Arab Emirates are considered. MSHE are the complexes which are carrying out a set of functions, uniting in itself the dwelling, expanded typological structure, establishment of service, culture, communication, entertainments, and also offices and trading enterprises. The architectural solution of MSHE is a result of architectural judgment of a number of objective factors: climatic, economic, social conditions, town-planning situation, space-planning structure of a complex, its constructive scheme, technoВ статье рассматриваются современные проблемы объемно-планировочных, конструктивных решений современных перспективных многофункциональных жилых комплексов в условиях жарко-сухого климата, с акцентом на национальные особенности ОАЭ

Background: The pharmacist, as a front-line provider, is always in contact with patients who come to the pharmacy for various reasons. This study aimed to determine patients’ satisfaction with pharmaceutical services provided by community pharmacists. Methods: An anonymous, pre-piloted questionnaire-based study was conducted in Benghazi, Libya. Data were analyzed using SPSS, and results were expressed as frequency and percentage of respondents. Results: A total of 281 completed questionnaires were received back. The majority (196, 69%) of respondents were female. The respondents were of different age groups, but most of them were between 17 and 24 (65.1%) years old. Over 50% of the participants were students (159, 56.6%). The majority of participants find the pharmacist helpful (96%), and 77% of the participants have categorized the pharmacist as a salesman. Most of the participants ask the pharmacist about how to use a medical device, the dose of medication, the frequency of use, the duration of treatment, and the side effects of the medication. Patients (113, 4.2%) do not ask the pharmacist because the physician provided information. Conclusions: The results of the present study showed a moderate level of patient satisfaction with the help provided by the community pharmacist. However, the pharmacist needs to fully practice his or her role to the advantage of the patients, and the latter needs to be aware of what to expect and demand from the community pharmacist

Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System for Prediction of Surgery Time for Ischemic Stroke Patients

With the advent of machine learning techniques, creation and utilization of prediction models for different medical procedures including prediction of diagnosis, treatment and recovery of different medical conditions has become the norm. Recent studies focus on the automation of infarction volume growth rate prediction by the utilization of machine learning techniques. These techniques when effectively applied, could significantly help in reducing the time needed to attend to stroke patients. We propose, in this proposal, a Fuzzy Inference System that can determine when a stroke patient should undergo Decompressive Hemicraniectomy. The second infarction volume growth rate and the decision whether a patient needs to undergo this procedure, both predicted outputs of two trained models, act as inputs to this system. While the initial prediction model, that which predicts the second infarction volume growth rate is adopted from an earlier model, we propose the later model in this paper. Three Machine Learning techniques - Support Vector Machine, Artificial Neural Network and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System with and without the feature reduction technique of Principle Component Analysis were modelled and evaluated, the best of which was selected to model the proposed prediction model. We also defined the structure of Fuzzy Inference System along with its rules and obtained an overall accuracy of 95.7% with a precision of 1 showing promising results from the use of fuzzy logic

High-efficacy therapies for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis: implications for adherence. An expert opinion from the United Arab Emirates

    Get PDF
The number of disease-modifying treatments (DMDs) for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis has increased. DMDs differ not only in their efficacy and safety/tolerability, but also in the treatment burden of, associated with their initiation, route/frequency of administration, maintenance treatment and monitoring. High-efficacy DMDs bring the prospect of improved suppression of relapses and progression of disability, but may have serious safety issues, and burdensome long-term monitoring. Studies of patient preferences in this area have focused on side effects, efficacy and route of administration. Adherence to DMDs is often suboptimal in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and there is a need to understand more about how the complex therapeutic and administration profiles of newer DMDs interact with these barriers to support optimal adherence to therapy
