    Üç Tritikale Çeşidinde Verim ve Verim Komponentleri İçin Kuraklığa Dayanım İndekslerinin Değerlendirilmesi

    Drought is a wide-spread problem seriously influencing cereal production and quality. The development of triticale cultivars which are tolerant to drought is an objective in many breeding programmes, but so far success has been limited. This study was carried to examine differences in yield and yield components and kernel features among triticale cultivars (Tatlicak 97, Karma 2000 and MIKHAM 2002) under drought stress. Three triticale cultivars with different yield performance were grown in separate experiments under the rain fed and irrigated conditions at Eskisehir, Turkey, in 2006-2007 growing season. In the study, susceptibility index (SSI), stress tolerance index (STI), tolerance (TOL), yield index (YI), yield stability index (YSI), mean productivity (MP) and geometric mean productivity (GMP) were calculated. The best yielding cultivar under the drought stress, hence having a low susceptibility index, was Karma 2000. This cultivar may be utilized for improvement of drought resistance in triticale breeding programmes.Kuraklık, tahıl üretimi ve kalitesini ciddi şekilde etkileyen yaygın bir problemdir. Kuraklığa toleranslı tritikale çeşitlerinin geliştirilmesi pek çok ıslah programının amacıdır fakat bugüne kadarki başarı sınırlı kalmıştır. Bu çalışma, kuraklık stresi altında verim, verim ögeleri ve tane özellikleri bakımından tritikale çeşitleri (Tatlicak 97, Karma 2000 and MIKHAM 2002) arasındaki farklılıkları incelemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Verim performansları farklı üç tritikale çeşidi 2006–2007 üretim sezonunda, Eskişehir, Türkiye’de sulu ve kuru koşullar altında farklı denemelerde yetiştirilmiştir. Çalışmada, stres duyarlılık indeksi (SSI), stres tolerans indeksi (STI), tolerans (TOL), verim indeksi (YI), verim stabilite indeksi (YSI), ortalama verimlilik (MP) ve geometrik ortalama verimlilik (GMP) indeksleri hesaplanmıştır. Kuraklık stresi altında en iyi verime sahip olan çeşit, en düşük duyarlılık indeksine sahip olmasına karşılık Karma 2000’dir.     Morpho-agronomic characters of oat growing with humic acid and zinc application in different sowing times

    The objectives of the study were to determine the effects of humic acid (HA) and zinc (Zn) applications on winter tolerance and yield performance of oat (cv. Albatros) planted in winter and spring sowing times (ST). We conducted the study in the 2017/2018 growing season. The experimental layout was split-split plots with three replications. Sowing times (winter and spring) comprised of the main plots. Humic acid application (with HA and without HA) was in the sub-plots, and Zn application rates (0, 23 and 46 kg ha-1) were in the sub-sub-plots. Chlorophyll content of plants was measured at the heading stage, while plant height, panicle height, panicle weight, number of grain per panicle, weight of grains per panicle, harvest index and grain yield were determined at the harvest. The effects of HA and Zn applications in both ST increased the chlorophyll content, yield and yield components. The results showed that cold tolerance of oat plants can be increased by the application of HA and 46 kg ZnSO4.7H2O ha -1. Overall performance of winter season was better than spring; thus, oat can be cultivated in winter under warm winter climate conditions. In addition, the HA and Zn applications can be used for other cold sensitive plant species to increase the cold tolerance which is a prevalent environmental stress affecting productivity of crops

    Regionalni klasteri, sličnosti i promjene u preradi drva u Turskoj: usporedna analiza uz pomoć algoritma K-prosjeka i Wardove metode klasteriranja

    This study aimed to separate the wood production in regions and provinces of Turkey into homogeneous groups based on similarities by using the country’s wood production figures for 2013 and 2018. Within this context, the hierarchical Ward’s and non-hierarchical K-means clustering methods were used comparatively. Clustering analyses of 2 to 6 in number were performed via both methods, and the same regions mostly fell into the same cluster groups, although in different cluster combinations. The results showed that some provinces with rich forest areas did not produce enough wood. It was observed that these provinces were in the same clusters with provinces having a low amount of forest areas and low wood production. Over the five-year period, very few provinces and regions differed in line with the previous development plans. The creation of a spatial database for wood raw material production using the findings obtained in this study will contribute to the development of operational inventory methods that can be included in long- and medium-term forestry plans.Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je prema sličnosti grupirati preradu drva u regijama i pokrajinama Turske u homogene skupine na temelju podataka o drvnoj industriji u 2013. i 2018. U tom kontekstu primijenjene su hijerarhijska Wardova metoda klasteriranja i nehijerarhijski algoritam K-prosjeka. Analize klasteriranja regija s 2 – 6 klastera provedene su uz pomoć obiju metoda, a iste su regije uglavnom pripadale istim skupinama klastera, iako s različitim kombinacijama klastera. Rezultati su pokazali da neke pokrajine s bogatim šumskim površinama ne prerađuju dovoljno drva. Uočeno je da su te pokrajine svrstane u iste skupine kao i pokrajine s malom količinom šumskih površina i niskom preradom drva. Tijekom petogodišnjeg razdoblja vrlo se malo pokrajina i regija razlikovalo od prethodnih razvojnih planova. Stvaranje sveobuhvatne baze podataka za proizvodnju drvne sirovine uz pomoć nalaza dobivenih u ovoj studiji pridonijet će razvoju operativnih metoda upravljanja zalihama koje se mogu uključiti u dugoročne i srednjoročne planove šumarstva

    José Saramago’s crossover picturebooks and their reception in Turkish

    UIDB/04097/2020 UIDP/04097/2020The article presents a case study of three picturebooks – A Maior Flor do Mundo (2001), El Silencio del Agua (2011), and O Lagarto (2016) – by Portuguese author José Saramago in Turkish translation. It first looks at the implied readers of the books through paratextual analysis, and then assesses the influence of paratextual choices on the responses of real Turkish readers using data culled from social media, online reader platforms and a specially constructed reader group session. The findings demonstrate that the implied crossover reader has disappeared in Turkish, which causes these works to be received as children’s storybooks. This in turn influences real readers’ reactions, depending on who they have bought the books for – children or themselves.publishersversionpublishe

    Acute static stretching with different volumes improves hamstring flexibility but not reactive strength index and leg stiffness in well-trained judo athletes

    Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different volumes of static stretching exercises (SS) on the reactive strength index (RSI), leg stiffness (Kleg), and hamstring flexibility in well-trained judo athletes. Method: In total, 17 international level judo athletes (11 women and 6 men; age, 20.47 ± 1.59 years; experience in judo, 11.35 ± 1.84 years) were recruited for this study. The athletes completed three different SS sessions named low (LV–SS: 3.5 min), moderate (MV–SS: 7 min), and high volumes (HV–SS: 10.5 min), 72 h apart, in a randomized crossover study. Before and after each SS exercise session, hamstring flexibility, RSI and Kleg were evaluated by a sit-and-reach test and a Myotest accelerometric system, respectively. Results: Different volumes of SS exercises improved hamstring flexibility (p .05). Different volumes of SS exercises neither improved nor reduced RSI and Kleg (p > .05). Conclusion: Judo athletes can use LV–SS, MV–SS, or HV-SS for hamstring flexibility enhancement, and SS exercises can be used as a part of a warm-up session prior to judo training or competition
