To find out association of physical activity with co-morbid conditions in geriatric population, a cross-sectional study was conducted in different cties of Pakistan in 2015. A total of 114 participants were inducted by non-probability convenience sampling technique. Data was collected after informed verbal consent by a validated questionnaire that is Rapid Assessment of Physical Activity (RAPA). Participants were categorized into two groups i.e. physically active and physically inactive. Data was entered and analyzed in SPSS version 20. There were 66 (57.9%) males and 48 (42.1%) females with mean age of 57.04±7.348 years. Among hypertensive individuals (n=43, 37.7%) there were 39 (90.7%) physically inactive, among individuals having angina (n=17, 14.9%) there were 15 (88.2%) physically inactive. Out of 37 (32.5%) diabetics, 35 (94.6%) were physically inactive. Among individuals suffering from arthritis (n=40, 35.1%), there were 38 (95%) physically inactive. A significant association was found between physical activity and diabetes and arthritis with p-value of 0.048 and 0.029 respectively. Physical activity is significantly associated with diabetes and arthritis in geriatric population. Adequate physical activity should be performed to reduce the risk of co-morbid conditions and improve the quality of life in geriatric population

This research aims to describe the refusal speech act of love, the current situation and the politeness when the refusal speech act of love happened. The subject of this research is 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made drama created by Miki Aihara in 2015. This is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach that use SPEAKING theory from Dell Hymes. After that, it is connected by politeness principle theory by Lecch, the face threatening theory and the politeness strategies by Brown and Levinson. In the result, we discovered that there were some kinds of the refusal of love with various levels of politeness were used. The violation of politeness principle, the maxims in the face threatening act and politeness strategies that done had relevance to the situation happened when the speech event. There were two kinds of refusal speech act of love in the 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made drama. They were the reason of refusal the love and the request that are not approachable

Characterization and evaluation of genetic potential of bambara groundnut accessions is very important in order to obtain accessions with high yield potential and early maturity. The objective of this research was to study the phenology, morphology, and yield of four bambara groundnut accessions. This experiment was conducted using a randomized completely block design with one factor i.e. origin of accessions (Bogor and Sukabumi black testa, Sumedang black and brown testa). The results showed that days to seedling emergence of Sumedang brown testa were 9.7 days after sowing (DAS), three other accessions ranged from 8.0 to 8.3 DAS. Days to 75% flowering of Sumedang brown testa was 45.3 days, the other three accessions ranged from 46.0 to 46.7 DAS. Days to pod formation of Bogor and Sumedang accessions with black testa were 49 DAS, Sumedang brown testa at 50 DAS, and Sukabumi accession at 54 DAS. Physiological seed maturity of Bogor and Sukabumi accessions at 112 DAS, Sumedang brown testa at 116 DAS and black testa at 128 DAS. Morphological variation of four bambara groundnut accessions included color of plumule, petiole, seed coat (testa), and leaf shape. Accessions of Sukabumi and Bogor black testa were potential to be developed further because of its showing higher number and weight of pods, and earlier maturity compared to those of Sumedang accessions with black and brown testa

. Soil cement is result of mixing soil, cements and water, that with level of certain compaction will make a new material mixture, soil cement, which because of it is strength, resistance characteristic to by water, hot and other weather influence is very good as a foundation layer under from road pavement structure. Usage of Fly Ash alternatively material for stabilization can mixture addition Soil Cement. This research done at some testing steps, where at step first is done static testing to the mixture, for example experiment UCS (Unconfined Compressive Strength). Result of testing indicates that Soil Oelmasi (Island Timor) can be classified as Inorganic Clay Soil with high plasticity (CH), Clay Soil Type (A-7-5), Value activity (A) = 1,30 (Aktif Clays) and has Swelling Potential Very High and mineral content Kuarsa (Quartz). In general, 5% - 15% cements shows number optimum of decrement Plastisitas Index (PI). While 3% - 7% fly ash can increase value Plastisitas Index(PI). Decrement and addition Plastisitas Index (PI) be an transformation indicator of strength from soil Clay Anorganic (CH). Addition of 13%semen curing of 28 days value Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) optimal that is = 12,59 Kg/Cm2. For Soil Bolok (Island Timor) be type Sand good gradation (SW), soil sands type (A-1-b) with content mineral calcite. Addition cement 10 % can increase value UCS so reaching optimal value 21,87 kg/cm2 at the curing of 28 days

Digital Image Analysis Using Flatbed Scanning System For Purity Testing Of Rice Seed And Confirmation By Grow Out Test

The common method used for purity testing of rice seed is human visual observation. This method, however, has a high degree of subjectivity when dealing with different rice varieties which have similar morphology. Digital image analysis with flatbed scanning for purity testing of rice seed was proposed by investigating the morphology of rice seeds and confirmation by grow out test (GOT) in the field. Two extra-long seed varieties were used in this study including a red rice Aek Sibundong and an aromatic rice Sintanur. The identification on 14 parameters of morphological characteristics indicated that only six parameters were correlated, i.e. area, feret, minimum feret, aspect ratio, round, and solidity. The purity of rice seed can be effectively determined using digital image analysis of spikelet color and shape. Based on the discriminant analysis of the digital image the recognition rate of rice seed purity was higher than 99.2% for shape and 93.55% for color. The method, therefore, has a potential to be used as a complement in rice seed purity testing to increase the accuracy of human visual method and it is more sensitive than GOT

Distributed top-k aggregation queries at large

    Get PDF
Top-k query processing is a fundamental building block for efficient ranking in a large number of applications. Efficiency is a central issue, especially for distributed settings, when the data is spread across different nodes in a network. This paper introduces novel optimization methods for top-k aggregation queries in such distributed environments. The optimizations can be applied to all algorithms that fall into the frameworks of the prior TPUT and KLEE methods. The optimizations address three degrees of freedom: 1) hierarchically grouping input lists into top-k operator trees and optimizing the tree structure, 2) computing data-adaptive scan depths for different input sources, and 3) data-adaptive sampling of a small subset of input sources in scenarios with hundreds or thousands of query-relevant network nodes. All optimizations are based on a statistical cost model that utilizes local synopses, e.g., in the form of histograms, efficiently computed convolutions, and estimators based on order statistics. The paper presents comprehensive experiments, with three different real-life datasets and using the ns-2 network simulator for a packet-level simulation of a large Internet-style network
