In Bali, one of the important issues related to livestock development is the issue of feed. The farmers often complain because of high prices of feed that often do not correspond to price of product increase. One of the alternatives for the provision of feed that are cheap and competitive is through the utilization of plantation waste. To view the financial feasibility of livestock farmers is introducting of coffee waste research in the Belantih Village, District of Kintamani, Bangli Regency. The eligible criteria used is Net Present Value (NPV), B/C ratio and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR), followed by the sensitivity test. From the analysis it was founded that the addition of coffee bran into the feed (forage + biocas) of fattening cattle to include net income (year 0 up to 10th) against level discount factor (df) 12% obtained NPV of Rp. 15,079,587.91; IRR of 21% and B/C ratio of 2.62. In farm of fattening who were given forage just acquired a negative NPV of Rp. 14,547,191.50; 1% IRR and B/C ratio of 1.04. From the economic analysis, it was concluded that the using coffee bran is feasible to be introduced due to B/C1 compared to the usual management by the farmers. The sensitivity test showed that the beef cattle fattening are very sensitive to changes

Background: Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is the most severe form of extrapulmonary tuberculous (TB) disease and remains difficult to diagnose. The aim of the study was to determine the diagnostic value of clinical and laboratory findings of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examinations for diagnosing TBM using bacterial culture result as the gold standard. Methods: A prospective cross sectional study was carried out to 121 medical records of hospitalized TBM patients in neurological ward at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung, from 1 January 2009–31 May 2013. The inclusion criteria were medical records consisted of clinical manisfestations and laboratory findings. The clinical manisfestations were headache and nuchal rigidity, whereas the laboratory findings were CSF chemical analysis (protein, glucose, and cells) and CSF microbiological culture. Validity such as sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) for clinical and laboratory findings were calculated, using bacterial culture result as the gold standard. Results: The most clinical findings of TBM was nuchal rigidity and it had the highest sensitivity value, but the lowest spesificity value. Decreased of CSF glucose had the highest sensitivity value compared to other laboratory findings, but the value was low. Conclusions: The clinical manisfestations and the laboratory findings are not sensitive and specific enough for diagnosing TBM. Thalassemia is an inherited genetic disease caused by the disruption in globin chain synthesis. Inefective erythropoiesis in thalassemia leads to moderate to severe anemia, requiring routine blood transfusions. To evaluate erythropoiesis, immature reticulocyte fractions (IRF) can be measured using the hematology analyzer, avoiding the need of invasive bone marrow examination. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in the IRF percentage between moderate and severe anemia in transfusion-dependent thalassemia (TDT) patients. This was a cross-sectional comparative observational analytic study conducted at the Pediatric Thalassemia Clinic of Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung in August–September 2020. The IRF was examined using the fluorescence flowcytometry method with whole blood sample added by EDTA anticoagulant. The statistical analysis used in this study was unpaired t-test and Mann Whitney’s test. Subjects were 93 TDT pediatric patients, consisting of 48 boys (52%) and 45 girls (48%). The majority (72%) of the patients had been diagnosed with thalassemia for more than 5 years with moderate anemia (40%) and severe anemia (60%). The median IRF percentage in moderate anemia was 6.4% (range 0-22.7) while the range in severe anemia was 11.7% (range 4.1–35.8), suggesting a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) in the IRF percentage between moderate and severe anemia in transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients. To conclude, the more severe the anemia experienced by a thalassemia patient is, the higher the percentage of IRF
