    Examining the cancellation mechanism of neutron EDM in a model with dilaton-dominated susy breaking

    Full text link
    We examine the cancellation mechanism between the different contributions to the electric dipole moment of the neutron in a model with dilaton-dominated SUSY breaking. We find these accidental cancellations occur at few points in parameter space. For a wide region of this space we must constrain the phase of μ\mu to be of order 10110^{-1} and have the phases of AA and μ\mu strongly correlated in order to have small neutron EDM. Moreover, we consider the indirect CP violation parameter ϵ\epsilon in this region where the electric dipole moment is less than the experimental limit and find that we can generate ϵ\epsilon of order 10610^{-6}

    On the EDM Cancellations in D-brane models

    We analyze the possibility of simultaneous electron, neutron, and mercury electric dipole moment (EDM) cancellations in the mSUGRA and D--brane models. We find that the mercury EDM constraint practically rules out the cancellation scenario in D-brane models whereas in the context of mSUGRA it is still allowed with some fine-tuning.Comment: 10 pages, to appear in Phys. Get PDF
    Aim: The aim of the study is to find the knowledge of Kaduna state populace on diphtheria vaccine which is the most effective way of tackling the disease as the Diphtheria antitoxin is not readily available for use in the country. Method: A survey conducted with a designed questionnaire at a confidence level of 95%, confidence interval of 12.5 showed Kaduna State populace’s responses on diphtheria, its vaccine and booster doses, the questionnaire was self administered and responses were collated using simple descriptive statistics. Results: A total number of 64 people responded; majority (37 of 64) were from the child bearing age fifty six, 56(88%), fifty nine, 59 (92%) were vaccinated against diphtheria but only eighteen, 18 (28%) knew about its booster doses. Twenty eight, 28 (45%) took their children for vaccine but only fourteen, 14 (11%) ever took them to receive the booster dose from among the respondents. Conclusion: Kaduna state residents have generally inconsequential awareness on diphtheria, its prevention and management. Key words: Diphtheria toxin; Diphtheria toxoid; Vaccine; Knowledge; Populac

    Mixing of the CP Even and the CP Odd Higgs Bosons and the EDM Constraints

    Get PDF
    The mixing among the CP even and the CP odd neutral Higgs bosons of MSSM by one loop induced effects in the presence of CP phases is investigated using three different mechanisms to satisfy the EDM constraints, i.e., a fine tuning of phases, a heavy sparticle spectrum, and the cancellation mechanism. It is shown that if a mixing effect among the CP even and the CP odd Higgs bosons is observed experimentally, then it is only the cancellation mechanism that can survive under the naturalness constraint.Comment: 14 pages, Latex and 4figures. Weak Isospin Violations in Charged and Neutral Higgs Couplings from SUSY Loop Corrections

    Full text link
    Supersymmetric QCD and supersymmetric electroweak loop corrections to the violations of weak isospin to Yukawa couplings are investigated. Specifically it involves an analysis of the supersymmetric loop corrections to the Higgs couplings to the third generation quarks and leptons. Here we analyze the SUSY loop corrections to the charged Higgs couplings which are then compared with the supersymmetric loop corrections to the neutral Higgs couplings previously computed. It is found that the weak isospin violations can be quite significant, i.e, as much as 40-50% or more of the total loop correction to the Yukawa coupling. The effects of CP phases are also studied and it is found that these effects can either enhance or suppress the weak isospin violations. We also investigate the weak isospin violation effects on the branching ratio BR(Htˉb)/BR(Hνˉττ)BR(H^-\to\bar t b)/ BR(H^-\to \bar\nu_{\tau}\tau^-) and show that the effects are sensitive to CP phases. Thus an accurate measurement of this branching ratio along with the branching ratio of the neutral Higgs boson decays can provide a measure of weak isospin violation along with providing a clue to the presence of supersymmetry.Comment: 20 pages, 9 figure

    Urinary Mucosal Cryoglobulin: A Review

    Get PDF
    The procedure for the assessment of the urinary mucosal cryoglobulin (UMCG) is being reviewed, testified and evaluated. The major features of UMCG are rather similar to that of serum cryoglobulin. Such evident similarities are forming the reality for the existence of the UMCG. There were seven characterizing criteria useable for the identification for UMCG. Upon matching them to the Irish criteria for serum cryoglobulin, some modifications are being proposed to the 16th standards that has been formulated and built as an Irish criterion. The existence of UMCG is being reported for the first time in human chronic infectious bacterial disease

    Temperature and water level measurement of liquid in a tank using fiber Bragg Grating

    Get PDF
    In this work, measurement of temperature and liquid level were performed simultaneously using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. A multi-channel Fibre Interrogator with built-in ASE laser source operating around 1552 to 1568 nm was employed to record a shift in Bragg wavelength due to contribution from both temperature and hydrostatic pressure of liquid weight in the tank. Results show a linear response between liquid level and temperature readings against the shift in Bragg wavelength for liquid level up to 85 cm in height and the temperature range of 27 to 77 ºC. The sensitivity of the sensor head for water level measurement is 10.57 pmcm-1, while the sensitivity for temperature measurement is 11.28 pm/ºC respectively

    The Electric Dipole Moment and CP Violation in BXsl+lB \to X_s l^+ l^- in SUGRA Models with Nonuniversal Gaugino Masses

    Get PDF
    The constraints of electric dipole moments (EDMs) of electron and neutron on the parameter space in supergravity (SUGRA) models with nonuniversal gaugino masses are analyzed. It is shown that with a light sparticle spectrum, the sufficient cancellations in the calculation of EDMs can happen for all phases being order of one in the small tanβ\beta case and all phases but ϕμ\phi_{\mu} (ϕμ<π/6|\phi_{\mu}| <\sim \pi/6) order of one in the large tanβ\beta case. This is in contrast to the case of mSUGRA in which in the parameter space where cancellations among various SUSY contributions to EDMs happen ϕμ|\phi_{\mu}| must be less than π/10\pi/10 for small tanβtan\beta and O(102){\cal{O}}(10^{-2}) for large tanβtan\beta. Direct CP asymmetries and the T-odd polarization of lepton in BXsl+lB\to X_s l^+l^- are investigated in the models. In the large tanβ\beta case, ACP2A_{CP}^2 and PNP_N for l=μ\mu (τ\tau) can be enhanced by about a factor of ten (ten) and ten (three) respectively compared to those of mSUGRA.Comment: 12 pages, latex, 4 figures, a few change
