Extremal covariant quantum operations and POVM's

We consider the convex sets of QO's (quantum operations) and POVM's (positive operator valued measures) which are covariant under a general finite-dimensional unitary representation of a group. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for extremality, and give general bounds for ranks of the extremal POVM's and QO's. Results are illustrated on the basis of simple examples.Comment: 18 pages, to appear on J. Math. Phy

English-Hindi transliteration using context-informed PB-SMT: the DCU system for NEWS 2009

This paper presents English—Hindi transliteration in the NEWS 2009 Machine Transliteration Shared Task adding source context modeling into state-of-the-art log-linear phrase-based statistical machine translation (PB-SMT). Source context features enable us to exploit source similarity in addition to target similarity, as modelled by the language model. We use a memory-based classification framework that enables efficient estimation of these features while avoiding data sparseness problems. We carried out experiments both at character and transliteration unit (TU) level. Position-dependent source context features produce significant improvements in terms of all evaluation metrics

A note on compactly generated co-t-structures

The idea of a co-t-structure is almost "dual" to that of a t-structure, but with some important differences. This note establishes co-t-structure analogues of Beligiannis and Reiten's corresponding results on compactly generated t-structures.Comment: 10 pages; details added to proofs, small correction in the main resul

Reducing full one-loop amplitudes to scalar integrals at the integrand level

    Get PDF
We show how to extract the coefficients of the 4-, 3-, 2- and 1-point one-loop scalar integrals from the full one-loop amplitude of arbitrary scattering processes. In a similar fashion, also the rational terms can be derived. Basically no information on the analytical structure of the amplitude is required, making our method appealing for an efficient numerical implementationComment: updated versio
