Resilient Digital Image Watermarking for Document Authentication

Abstract—We consider the applications of the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and then a Chirp coding method for producing a highly robust system for watermarking images using a block partitioning approach subject to a self-alignment strategy and bit error correction. The applications for the algorithms presented and the system developed include the copyright protection of images and Digital Right Management for image libraries, for example. However, the principal focus of the research reported in this paper is on the use of printscan and e-display-scan image authentication for use in e-tickets where QR code, for example, are embedded in a full colour image of the ticket holder. This requires that an embedding procedure is developed that is highly robust to blur, noise, geometric distortions such as rotation, shift and barrel and the partial removal of image segments, all of which are considered in regard to the resilience of the method proposed and its practical realisation in a real operating environment

On the application of two dimensional chirplets for resilient digital image watermarking

Chirplets (swept-frequency harmonic signals) find applications in several areas, including real and synthetic aperture radar, (Fresnel) optics and image processing. The robustness of chirplets to extreme (additive) noise make them an ideal choice in the role of embedding patterns for resilient digital signal and image watermarking. In this paper we present a new watermarking technique which is based on embedding twodimensional chirplet coded binary sequences in digital images. This approach provides a pattern embedded recovery algorithm which is robust to a variety of distortions. However, chirplets have certain parameters that need to be specified, and, given a set of target characteristics, some particular chirplet parameters can be considered optimal. This paper reports on the optimisation of both the chirplet sets and their associated parameters focusing on a classification of their resilience to image distortion

The applications of the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) for Computer Generated Imagery, image processingand, in particular, image compression are well known and the DCT also forms the central kernel for a number ofdigital image watermarking methods. Proposed and tested an algorithm of using principles of Cantor, von Koch sets for exploratory fractals clinical pharmacological data analysis. The algorithm is based on the grouping data, formation of categorical variabilities in the form of subgroups as iteration process as for receiving Cantor, von Koch sets. It boils down to: selection of informative numerical dependent variabilities; transformation these informative numerical dependent variabilities to new categorical variabilities; formation categorical variabilities in the form of subgroups as a result of an iterative process as for Cantor, von Koch sets; statistical analysis of the data; determination of the distribution of variabilities; transformations that may be normalize from non-normal data; ANOVA - analysis of variance parametric data or nonparametric equivalent of ANOVA - Kruskal-Wallis testing; formulation of the conclusion. Our algorithm of using Cantor, von Koch sets principles for Exploratory Fractals Data Analysis of clinical pharmacological data will help maximize insight, uncover underlying structure, extract important variables, develop models and determine optimal factor settings

Diversity and distribution of tardigrades in soils of Edmonson Point (Northern Victoria Land, continental Antarctica)

This work contributes to the knowledge on distribution, diversity and ecology of the Antarctic soil biota. Different soil habitats from several ice-free coastal sites were sampled along the Victoria Land across 7° of latitude from 71° to 78°S during five austral summer seasons between 2003/04 and 2011/12. In this paper we report preliminary data on soil tardigrades (water bears) from Edmondson Point, Northern Victoria Land. Tardigrades were found to be present in 23 of the 41 examined soil samples (56%). Their presence was associated exclusively with soil samples collected from bryophytes communities and under cyanobacterial mats, whereas they were completely absent in fellfield and ornithogenic soils. Tardigrades were least numerous among all soil micrometazoans, their abundance in the positive samples was very variable and ranged from 3 to 1824 individuals per 100 g of soil DW. High water content seemed to be the major factor determining occurrence of tardigrades in the soils investigated. On the other hand low water content and toxic compounds from penguin guano seemed to act as a strong constraint on their existence in the Antarctic soils. Taxonomic evaluation of the extracted tardigrades revealed presence of only two species belonging to class Eutardigrada: Acutuncus antarcticus (Richters, 1904) and Milnesium antarcticum Tumanov, 2006. While A. antarcticus has already been reported previously as the most widespread and abundant tardigrade across the Victoria Land, the information on M. antarcticum is novel, both for Victoria Land and the continental Antarctica
