The Relationship Between Perceived and Ideal Body Size and Body Mass Index Among 9th Grade Students in an Urban High School
This study examined the perceptions of actual and ideal body size and how it related to body mass index in 82 ethnically and socioeconomically diverse 9th-graders from an urban high school. The height and weight were measured, and BMI was calculated for each of the 82 participants. Using the Childress Silhouette Scale (CSS), each student self-reported Perceived Actual Self Image (P ASI) and Perceived Ideal Self Image (PISI). The CSS was modified to offer 7 figure drawings that illustrated various examples of underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obese. Results showed that 54% ofthe students had a healthy weight, 21% were overweight, and 15% were obese. The students\u27 PASI and PISI showed a small positive correlation. Students with a higher BJv.fl had a greater tendency to choose a higher P ASI and PIS I. The main difference between boys and girls regarding perceived ideal self-image (PISI) was that girls chose an underweight figure whereas boys chose a healthy weight figure

Are female leaders good for education? : Evidence from India
This paper shows that the gender of politicians affects the educational levels of individuals who
grow up in the districts where these politicians are elected. Increasing female political
representation by 10 percentage points increases the probability that an individual attains
primary education in urban areas by 6 percentage points, which is 21% of the difference in
primary education attainment between the richest and the poorest Indian states. Caste also
matters, as female politicians who won seats reserved for lower castes and disadvantaged tribes
are those who mainly have an effect. In addition, both the gender and caste of politicians
determine who benefits more from their policies: in urban areas female politicians increase
educational achievements of those of their gender and caste. A unique dataset collected on
politicians in India is matched with individual data by cohort and district of residence. The
political data allow the identification of close elections between women and men, which yield
quasi-experimental election outcomes used to estimate the causal effect of the gender of
politicians

This research was an classroom action research held in 2 cycles, each cycle includes four phases of activities, i.e: 1) Planning, 2) Implementation Measures, 3) observation, and 4) Reflection. These research subject were XC grade student SMA N 1 Ngemplak academic year 2011/2012. Data collection technique used observation, tests, interviews and field notes. The research instrument in the form of evaluation tests, observation sheets, interview and field notes. Data analysis in this research using descriptive statistical analysis. The data have been collected are classified into two groups: quantitative and qualitative data.
The results showed an increase independence learning Information and Communication Technology XC grade students by using ICT module, the increase can be seen from the increasing number of students who obtained a score of independence learning at intervals over which the interval 22.5 - 26.4 from 0 students (0%) in Cycle 1, increased to 3 students (6%) in cycle 2 and in the interval 18.5 - 22.4 from 3 students (8%) in cycle 1 increased by 22 students (61%) in cycle 2. The results of evaluation tests showed an increase in student achievement, the first cycle of evaluation results show that the average value of the class has increased from 83 in the first cycle and then increased to 93 on the second cycle. Whereas the value of standard deviation in the first cycle of 10 down to 8 on the second cycle. Significant deterioration in the standard deviation can narrow the range of values between high and low so that the value of students in class become more homogeneous. Based on the results of these research concluded that there is increased independence and achievement learning ICT XC grade students through utilization of ICT module.

Power to the Panza: The Politics of Panza Positive Cultural Production, a Performance
Abstract:
The Panza Monologues is a solo performance piece both written by Virginia Grise and Irma Mayorga and also composed from contributions by Chicanas in San Antonio, TX gathered by Grise and Mayorga. In live production of the piece, Grise is the solo actor and Mayorga serves as director, dramaturge, and designer. As a whole, the play focuses on stories that hinge on the metaphor of “la panza” to articulate and describe the multiple conditions of Chicanas’ lives in terms of their physical, social, racial, and class dimensions. The piece has been performed in various locations from its inception in 2004 to the present. For their NACCS 2008 Annual Conference presentation, Grise and Mayorga composed a “performative conversation” for a session that offered (1) the genealogy of the piece’s development, (2) the differences between Grise and Mayorga’s theatrical training and work as activists, which in turn yields their aesthetic and Chicana feminist strategies employed in the performance, (3) an articulation of the play’s driving ideas and tenets in relation to Chicana/o cultural production, the socio-political conditions in San Antonio, TX, and feminist art practices, and (4) select monologues from The Panza Monologues script presented between Grise and Mayorga’s discussion of Chicana cultural expressions. This format sought to compose a presentation that experimented with the possibilities of discussing cultural production in the academic conference setting. Therefore this essay utilizes a “script” format that attempts to capture the dialogical style of Grise and Mayorga’s presentation. The essay culminates with a manifesto for “Panza Positive Cultural Production” that enumerates Grise and Mayorga’s observations and recommendations for producing Chicana/o teatro that is socially responsible and attentive to Chicana artists, Chicana/o peoples, and practice within Chicana/o cultural organizations
