Possible Magnetic Chirality in Optically Chiral Magnet [Cr(CN)6_6][Mn(SS)-pnH(H2_2O)](H2_2O) Probed by Muon Spin Rotation and Relaxation

Local magnetic fields in a molecule-based optically chiral magnet [Cr(CN)$_6$][Mn($S$)-pnH(H$_2$O)](H$_2$O) (GN-S) and its enantiomer (GN-R) are studied by means of muon spin rotation and relaxation (muSR). Detailed analysis of muon precession signals under zero field observed below T_c supports the average magnetic structure suggested by neutron powder diffraction. Moreover, comparison of muSR spectra between GN-S and GN-R suggests that they are a pair of complete optical isomers in terms of both crystallographic and magnetic structure. Star Formation Efficiency in the Central 1 kpc Region of Early-Type Spiral Galaxies

It has been reported recently that there are some early-type spiral (Sa--Sab) galaxies having evident star-forming regions which concentrate in their own central 1-kpc. In such central region, is the mechanism of the star formation distinct from that in disks of spiral galaxies? To reveal this, we estimate the star formation efficiency (SFE) in this central 1-kpc star-forming region of some early-type spiral galaxies, taking account of the condition for this 1-kpc region to be self-gravitating. Using two indicators of present star formation rate (H$\alpha$ and infrared luminosity), we estimate the SFE to be a few percents. This is equivalent to the observational SFE in the disks of late-type spiral (Sb--) galaxies. This coincidence may support the universality of the mean SFE of spiral galaxies reported in the recent studies. That is, we find no evidence of distinct mechanism of the star formation in the central 1-kpc region of early-type galaxies. Also, we examine the structure of the central star-forming region, and discuss a method for estimating the mass of star-forming regions.Comment: accepted by A

O costume pelo consumo do tambaqui em Manaus é bastante antigo e pouco se sabe sobre sua origem. Mas a oferta deste importante peixe da cultura local já esteve ameaçada. Isso porque o crescimento acelerado da população, ocasionado pelo advento da Zona Franca, também fez aumentar a demanda por alimentos nas últimas décadas. Os objetivos foram avaliar as condições ambientais em que a atividade está sendo desenvolvida e apontar possíveis melhorias no gerenciamento ambiental da piscicultura na região

The Sliding Singlet Mechanism with Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking

The sliding singlet mechanism is one of the most interesting solutions of the triplet-doublet splitting problem. We analyze this mechanism in the gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario. We show that the sliding singlet mechanism does not work in the naive gauge mediation scenario because of the singlet linear terms derived from the gravity, although $F$ term is much smaller than the one in the gravity mediation scenario.
