    This research aims to produce learning resources in the form of mathematics e-modules to be tested for eligibility in students of grade IV SDN 2 Batujai. The type of research used in research is development research with 4d models (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The subjects used in this study were teachers and students of grade IV at SDN 2 Batujai which numbered 29 people. The results showed that learning resources in the form of e-module mathematics already met the criteria worthy by obtaining a percentage of 79,7% of material experts and 85% of media experts. Teacher response and student response showed that the mathematics e-modules were feasible to use with 82,5% of teacher responses and 84,2 % of student responses. Based on the data it can be concluded that e-module mathematics fractional material is suitable for use as a source of learning that can be used by students and teacher

    In his 1971 paper George Palade wrote for Albert Claude, the founder of biological electron microscopic method: “Seldom has a field owed so much to a single man”. Herein, we articulate the same words for George Palade, the Teacher of many generations in cell biology research and education. Herein we focus on the paradigm shifts in the cell biology, namely the transition from light to transmission electron microscopy in studying cell protein secretion made by George Palade. Onward, we discuss on the transition from contractile to secretory phenotype of vascular smooth muscle cells initiated by Maria Daria Haust and developed by our research group. Taken together, we argue that one of the present challenges in cell biology is to cultivate secretocentric thinking and thus further focusing on how we could make secretory pathways work for the benefit of human’s health

    Turing Instability in a Boundary-fed System

    The formation of localized structures in the chlorine dioxide-idodine-malonic acid (CDIMA) reaction-diffusion system is investigated numerically using a realistic model of this system. We analyze the one-dimensional patterns formed along the gradients imposed by boundary feeds, and study their linear stability to symmetry-breaking perturbations (Turing instability) in the plane transverse to these gradients. We establish that an often-invoked simple local linear analysis which neglects longitudinal diffusion is inappropriate for predicting the linear stability of these patterns. Using a fully nonuniform analysis, we investigate the structure of the patterns formed along the gradients and their stability to transverse Turing pattern formation as a function of the values of two control parameters: the malonic acid feed concentration and the size of the reactor in the dimension along the gradients.     Hubungan kerja antara perusahaan kontraktor dan subkontraktor  dilaksanakan  untuk mengatasi kesulitan yang muncul di lapangan agar dapat mencapai keberhasilan proyek. Untuk mencapai keberhasilan tersebut diperlukan komunikasi yang efektif antar perusahaan. Oleh karena itulah perlu dilakukan penelitian untuk menganalisis indikator pada komunikasi yang efektif dan pengaruhnya terhadap keberhasilan antar perusahaan tersebut dalam menyelesaikan pekerjaan proyek. Penelitian ini diawali dengan melakukan kajian literatur untuk mendapatkan variabel danindikator  terkait komunikasi dan keberhasilan proyek. Kemudian dilakukan penyusunan kuesioner sebagai alat untuk pengumpulan data.  Responden pada survey yang digunakan adalah manajer perusahaan kontraktor dan subkontraktor yang pernah atau sedang terlibat dalam hubungan kerja.  Selanjutnya data yang terkumpul dilakukan analisis dengan menggunakan structural equation modelling (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi memberikan pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan terhadap keberhasilan pekerjaan proyek antara perusahaan kontraktor dan subkontraktor.     Entanglement study of the 1D Ising model with Added Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction

    We have studied occurrence of quantum phase transition in the one-dimensional spin-1/2 Ising model with added Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) interaction from bi- partite and multi-partite entanglement point of view. Using exact numerical solutions, we are able to study such systems up to 24 qubits. The minimum of the entanglement ratio R \equiv \tau 2/\tau 1 < 1, as a novel estimator of QPT, has been used to detect QPT and our calculations have shown that its minimum took place at the critical point. We have also shown both the global-entanglement (GE) and multipartite entanglement (ME) are maximal at the critical point for the Ising chain with added DM interaction. Using matrix product state approach, we have calculated the tangle and concurrence of the model and it is able to capture and confirm our numerical experiment result. Lack of inversion symmetry in the presence of DM interaction stimulated us to study entanglement of three qubits in symmetric and antisymmetric way which brings some surprising results.Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, submitte

    A deep learning approach for intelligent cockpits: learning drivers routines

    Nowadays an increasing number of vehicles are being equipped with powerful cockpit systems capable of collecting drivers’ footprints over time. The collection of this valuable data opens effective opportunities for routine prediction. With the growing ability of vehicles to collect spatial and temporal information solving the routine prediction problem becomes crucial and feasible. It is then extremely important to advance and take advantage of the capabilities of these cockpit systems. A vehicle that is capable of predicting the next destination of the driver and when the driver intends to leave to that destination can prepare the journey in advance. Previous studies tackling the next location prediction problem have made use of Traditional Markov models, Neural Networks, Dynamic models, among others. In this work, a framework based on the hierarchical density-based clustering algorithm followed by a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) recurrent neural network is proposed for spatial-temporal prediction of drivers’ routines. Based on real-life driving scenarios of three different users, the proposed approach achieved a test set accuracy of 96.20%, 90.23%, and 86.40% when predicting the next destination and a R2 Score of 93.69, 79.21, and 28.81 when predicting the departure time, respectively.     Characterization of oral yeasts isolated from healthy individuals attended in different Colombian dental clinics

    The aim of this study was to identify the most frequent yeasts in the oral cavity of adult individuals without immune disorders and to associate the presence of these oral yeasts with different characteristics of each individual. Oral rinse samples were obtained from 96 healthy adults and cultured in Sabouraud dextrose agar media and CHROMagar. Yeasts were identified by sequencing the D1/D2 region of the 28S rRNA gene. Probable association among the socio-demographic characteristics, body mass index, family and personal medical history, oral hygiene, tobacco and/or alcohol consumption habits and presence of oral fungi was analyzed. Contingency tables and logistic regression were employed to evaluate possible relationships between the presence of oral fungi and mixed colonization with these variables. 57.3% of the healthy individuals had oral yeasts and 21.8% had mixed colonization. The most prevalent yeasts were Candida albicans (52%), C. parapsilosis (17.9%), and C. dubliniensis (7.57%). Yeasts with most frequently mixed colonization were C. albicans and C. parapsilosis. No relationships were found among the variables analyzed. However, the presence of mixed colonization was related to the presence of dental prostheses (P less than 0.006), dental apparatuses (P=0.016) and O'Leary index (P=0.012). This is the first study that characterized oral yeasts in Colombian healthy individuals, determined the most prevalent oral yeasts C. albicans, C. parapsilosis and C. dublinensis and an association of mixed colonization with the use of dental prostheses and aparatology and poor hygiene. © 2019 by the Journal of Biomedical Research

    High-throughput sequencing and analysis of the gill tissue transcriptome from the deep-sea hydrothermal vent mussel Bathymodiolus azoricus

The definitive version was published in BMC Genomics 11 (2010): 559, doi:10.1186/1471-2164-11-559.Bathymodiolus azoricus is a deep-sea hydrothermal vent mussel found in association with large faunal communities living in chemosynthetic environments at the bottom of the sea floor near the Azores Islands. Investigation of the exceptional physiological reactions that vent mussels have adopted in their habitat, including responses to environmental microbes, remains a difficult challenge for deep-sea biologists. In an attempt to reveal genes potentially involved in the deep-sea mussel innate immunity we carried out a high-throughput sequence analysis of freshly collected B. azoricus transcriptome using gills tissues as the primary source of immune transcripts given its strategic role in filtering the surrounding waterborne potentially infectious microorganisms. Additionally, a substantial EST data set was produced and from which a comprehensive collection of genes coding for putative proteins was organized in a dedicated database, "DeepSeaVent" the first deep-sea vent animal transcriptome database based on the 454 pyrosequencing technology. A normalized cDNA library from gills tissue was sequenced in a full 454 GS-FLX run, producing 778,996 sequencing reads. Assembly of the high quality reads resulted in 75,407 contigs of which 3,071 were singletons. A total of 39,425 transcripts were conceptually translated into amino-sequences of which 22,023 matched known proteins in the NCBI non-redundant protein database, 15,839 revealed conserved protein domains through InterPro functional classification and 9,584 were assigned with Gene Ontology terms. Queries conducted within the database enabled the identification of genes putatively involved in immune and inflammatory reactions which had not been previously evidenced in the vent mussel. Their physical counterpart was confirmed by semi-quantitative quantitative Reverse-Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reactions (RT-PCR) and their RNA transcription level by quantitative PCR (qPCR) experiments. We have established the first tissue transcriptional analysis of a deep-sea hydrothermal vent animal and generated a searchable catalog of genes that provides a direct method of identifying and retrieving vast numbers of novel coding sequences which can be applied in gene expression profiling experiments from a non-conventional model organism. This provides the most comprehensive sequence resource for identifying novel genes currently available for a deep-sea vent organism, in particular, genes putatively involved in immune and inflammatory reactions in vent mussels.
