    Irrational behavior of youth when taking financial decisions

    Purpose: The article contains research on internal factors of irrational behaviour initiated by the objective to reveal correlation between individual and personal, psychological peculiarities and irrational behavior in life situations. Design/Methodology/Approach: The article is based on a hypothesis that there is a correlation between personal peculiarities and an irrational choice when students of economic HEIs make decisions of economic nature. Such life-purpose orientations as “Locus of control Me” and “Locus of control Life” are connected with irrational economic behavior. Findings: The study allows enriching the subject field of behavioral economics from the point of view of the specificity of economic and psychological characteristics, attitudes towards an economic choice, and the identification of emotional and personal indicators of irrational behavior. It has been revealed that the psychological characteristics of a person (mental processes, orientation of an individual, life-purpose orientations) influence students' irrational economic behavior. Practical Implications: The results of the study can be used by economic institutions (HEIs) in the selection of students for educational programs. The developed diagnostic game technique, the styles of irrational behavior described by the authors can be used in the practice of the educational process of economic HEIs or in assessing the propensity to make irrational economic decisions in other areas of human activity Originality/Value: The main contribution of this study is the clarification of factors of finacial behavior of youth.peer-reviewe

    Response of cardiorespiratory system during maximal exercise cycle ergometer test in women cross-country skiers with different skills levels

    Objective: to estimate the functional features of the cardiorespiratory system of female cross-country skiers with different skills levels at the maximal bicycle ergometer test.Material and methods: 70 female cross-country skiers were divided into three groups. The first group included 21 cross-country skiers with first adult sporting rank, the second — 25 candidates in master of sports, the third group — 24 sport masters in cross-country skiing. Maximal exercise tests were used to determine cardiorespiratory fitness via spiroergometric system «Oxycon Pro» (Jaeger, Hoechberg, Germany).Results: The most notable differences were observed between the first-class and the masters of the sports groups. In the first-class group the heart rate during the maximal exercise test was, on average, 11 beats/min higher than in the master of sports group (p<0.05), and the oxygen consumption at the anaerobic threshold was, on average, lower by 7.7 ml/min/kg (p < 0.05) when comparing the same groups.Conclusion: The influence of skills levels on physiological parameters at maximal bicycle ergometer test was shown. The capacity in the first group occurs due to cardiovascular system tension, and the same in the group high qualification skiers happen due to the mechanisms of oxygen transport development

    Psychological, physiological and biochemical indicators of female professional basketball players and ski runners

    Objective: comparison of psychological, physiological and biochemical markers in female basketball players and ski runners. Materials and methods: we investigated 8 female basketball players and 12 ski runners. For this we used questionnaire «Recovery-Stress Questionnaire for Athletes», maximal bicycle ergometer endurance exercise test and biochemical analysis of venous blood. Results: we showed that female basketball players had, in comparison with ski runners, higher levels of sports stress, injury susceptibility - but also had higher self-efficacy values. Basketball players had higher average height, body mass and percentage of body fat, and higher oxygen pulse at rest. At the same time, they had lower efficacy and maximal oxygen consumption in maximal bicycle ergometer endurance exercise test. Female basketball players had lower plasma aspartate aminotransferase and total protein levels. Conclusions: we conclude that observed differences between female basketball players and ski runners were caused by differences in the initial selection criteria for basketball and ski running. Those initial dissimilarities were further reinforced by differences in typical physical tasks and demands, specific for their respective sports. Training regimens and other factors of the preparatory process also added to the differences observed between groups

    Dynamics of the anaerobic threshold of ski racers throughout the annual training cycle

    To study the dynamics of cardiorespiratory parameters in the anaerobic threshold zone of ski racers throughout the annual training cycle. Materials and methods: 300 examinations of 49 professional ski racers of I category and candidate masters of sports (aged from 15 to 32 years, mean age - 19,7±1,3 (M±m)) were carried out in the breath-by-breath mode on an Oxycon Pro ergospirometric system (Erich Jaeger). Maximal oxygen consumption (MOC: absolute and per kilogram of body weight) was detected during pass-fail test. Heart rate (HR), oxygen consumption (VO2), oxygen pulse and maximal load were registered in the anaerobic threshold zone. Difference between the actual and theoretically calculated HR, VO2 percentage (relate to maximal oxygen consumption) was calculated. Results: pulse increase in the anaerobic threshold zone by 20% prolonged aerobic activity of ski racers and increased maximal aerobic load by 20%. Conclusions: the most favorable values of cardiorespiratory parameters were registered during the preparation period, and the least - during the competition period. This fact requires correction of the training process and rehabilitation

    Functional characteristic of ski-runners in Komi Republic

    Objective: to study functional characteristic of ski-runners from national teams of the Komi Republic. Materials and methods: 43 skiers aged from 16 to 34 (30 men and 13 women) were examined. We determined a number of somatometric, physiometric and physiological parameters of both male and female ski-runners at rest and during the standardized bicycle ergometer tests. The ECG recordings were analyzed using the Ecosan-2007 complex. Results: we found that maximal oxygen consumption and PWC-170 parameters in ski runners living in the North were similar to the average parameters for Russia. Heart rate variability parameters showed predominance of the parasympathetic cardiovascular regulation, especially in men. Conclusions: according to the majority of somatometric, physiometric, and physiological parameters, and to the results of physical capacity tests (MOC, PWC-170) women showed substantially lower results than men. During the standardized bicycle ergometer tests women showed higher «physiological cost» (by pulse, pressure, respiration, ventilation and oxygen consumption parameters) of physical work

    Success of electroporation treatment critically depends on coverage of the target tissue with electric field. The electric field during delivery of the electroporation pulses can be reconstructed by the magnetic resonance electric impedance tomography, a method that uses current density distribution data and electric potentials at the electrodes for reconstruction of electric field in the sample. In this study, two complementary MRI methods for current density imaging during delivery of irreversible electroporation pulses are presented. One of the methods is based on the single-shot rapid acquisition with relaxation enhancement while the other is based on the echo planar imaging MRI method. The methods were compared in terms of their sensitivity and susceptibility to image artifacts by experiments on a liver test sample that were performed on a 2.35 T small bore MRI scanner. In the experiments, a standard protocol for irreversible electroporation where 90 electric pulses of 100 ÎĽs, 3000 V are delivered at 1 Hz was performed. Results of the study confirmed that both methods have comparable sensitivity. The RARE-based method was found less susceptible to artifacts while the EPI-based method has lower SAR value and may therefore be a better candidate for use in clinics
