B(ordering) Utopia in Birobidzhan: Spatial Aspects of Jewish Colonization in Inner Asia

Received 16 June 2021. Accepted 3 July 2021. Published online 9 July 2021.The borderline territory serves a double purpose, being simultaneously zones of cultural contact and cultural barriers—administrative and often civilizational. This ambivalence frequently affects borderline area inhabitants turning them into hostages of border management regimes and outside projections concerning their cultural and civilizational status, and the authenticity of forms of their culture representation. In the case of Birobidzhan, we are dealing with an absolutely modern project of creating ethnic territoriality without reference to the historical context and far from the places of traditional settlement of the Jewish population. The implementation of this project put the Jewish settlers at the center of a complex process of border management and securitization of the border areas. The factors of border and “remoteness” are largely underestimated in Birobidzhan studies. The article fills this niche, emphasizing the spatial aspects of the implementation of the “anti-Zionist utopia” and its complex relationship with previous models of territoriality in the region and local inhabitants. The paper was prepared with the support of the National Science Center (Poland) (grant number DEC 2012/05/E/HS 3/03527)

Category of Authorship Development: from Shakespeare to Romanticism

The subject of the research is hidden in the long work of cultural mechanisms origin and development of category of authorship. It is shown that this category gradually singled out from a triad playwright - actors - audience in the Golden age of English literature with the parallel development of dyad writer - readers . According to the author, this dyad began to strengthen with the advent of book printing, which, together with the theatre, led to the formation of a mass readership. The concept is provided, according to which the process of the category of authorship formation can be seen in W. Shakespeare, the genius author. It is suggested that one can speak about the first stage of approval of the “author” category in connection with the publication of the First folio in 1623. It is emphasized that the final transfiguration of W. Shakespeare in the author-creator was only by the end of the 18th century - early 19th century, when the English and German romantics turned to the concept of genius developed by I. Kant. It is argued that romanticism intuitively appreciated Kant’s creative imagination as a distinctive feature of Shakespeare’s works, and it came to the conclusion that the ability to imagine and to build a new world considers the subject of this ability as the chief creative component. Review of works of the 18th century showed that English philologists have also contributed to the development of the category of authorship. So, E. Young was one of the first who clearly distinguished between imitators and the original authors. It is proved that the idea of originality developed in the romanticism to the idea of the poet as prophet, original and genius to such an extent that his time is not able to recognize him, and therefore, he will be completely appreciated only by future generations

A unified hyperbolic formulation for viscous fluids and elastoplastic solids

We discuss a unified flow theory which in a single system of hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) can describe the two main branches of continuum mechanics, fluid dynamics, and solid dynamics. The fundamental difference from the classical continuum models, such as the Navier-Stokes for example, is that the finite length scale of the continuum particles is not ignored but kept in the model in order to semi-explicitly describe the essence of any flows, that is the process of continuum particles rearrangements. To allow the continuum particle rearrangements, we admit the deformability of particle which is described by the distortion field. The ability of media to flow is characterized by the strain dissipation time which is a characteristic time necessary for a continuum particle to rearrange with one of its neighboring particles. It is shown that the continuum particle length scale is intimately connected with the dissipation time. The governing equations are represented by a system of first order hyperbolic PDEs with source terms modeling the dissipation due to particle rearrangements. Numerical examples justifying the reliability of the proposed approach are demonstrated.Comment: 6 figure

Why hyperbolic theories of dissipation cannot be ignored: Comments on a paper by Kostadt and Liu

Contrary to what is asserted in a recent paper by Kostadt and Liu ("Causality and stability of the relativistic diffusion equation"), experiments can tell apart (and in fact do) hyperbolic theories from parabolic theories of dissipation. It is stressed that the existence of a non--negligible relaxation time does not imply for the system to be out of the hydrodynamic regime.Comment: 8 pages Latex, to appear in Phys.Rev.

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CARDIAC MYXOMA

Cardiac tumors are extremely rare pathologies with polymorphic clinical presentation, mainly founded in autopsy, and accidentally in cardiac surgery. Primary tumors of the heart are detected in 0.002-0.05 cases of autopsies, and 75 % of the tumors are the benign ones. Cardiac myxoma is the most frequent tumor of the heart. It can be localized in any chamber, but more often occurs in the left atrium. A pedunculated myxomas prolapse into mitral orifice, obstructing outflow from left atrium and inflow to left ventricle in diastole. Microscopically myxomas can have slimy, rigid, lobed or loose structure. Myxomas with loose consistency are most dangerous in occurrence of systemic embolism. Also, tumors can locate in ventricle or in several heart chambers. Most of tumors has a peduncle, a fibrous-vascular stalk from 4 to 8 cm in diameter. In 93 % cases myxomas are the single chamber tumors, but they can be biatrial, and grow in several chambers of the heart, thus, are the multiple primary tumors. The symptoms are of widely varied character and depend on the size and localization of the tumor. Now, because of advances in diagnostic, the frequency of myxoma detection is annually increasing, counting from 0.5 to 2.3 cases per 1 million people. The group of 70 patients aged from 19 to 77 with morphologically confirmed myxomas was analyzed. Surgical intervention is the only way to treat myxoma. The case described in the article presents a large myxoma, almost completely filling left atrium with mitral orifice occlusion. Routine echocardiography facilitated a timely diagnosis, and required treatment was performed

The epizootic situation on main animal helminthosis which we have observed in Russian Federation in the period from 1990 to 2014 allows us to come to the conclusion that the development of epizootic process is affected by ecological components such as: conditions of pastures and water reservoirs, weather and climate especially in current pasture season; therefore it is necessary to conduct the antiparasitic treatment.
