    Model for Anisotropic Directed Percolation

    We propose a simulation model to study the properties of directed percolation in two-dimensional (2D) anisotropic random media. The degree of anisotropy in the model is given by the ratio Ī¼\mu between the axes of a semi-ellipse enclosing the bonds that promote percolation in one direction. At percolation, this simple model shows that the average number of bonds per site in 2D is an invariant equal to 2.8 independently of Ī¼\mu. This result suggests that Sinai's theorem proposed originally for isotropic percolation is also valid for anisotropic directed percolation problems. The new invariant also yields a constant fractal dimension Dfāˆ¼1.71D_{f} \sim 1.71 for all Ī¼\mu, which is the same value found in isotropic directed percolation (i.e., Ī¼=1\mu = 1).Comment: RevTeX, 9 pages, 3 figures.     Finite-Size Scaling in Two-dimensional Continuum Percolation Models

    We test the universal finite-size scaling of the cluster mass order parameter in two-dimensional (2D) isotropic and directed continuum percolation models below the percolation threshold by computer simulations. We found that the simulation data in the 2D continuum models obey the same scaling expression of mass M to sample size L as generally accepted for isotropic lattice problems, but with a positive sign of the slope in the ln-ln plot of M versus L. Another interesting aspect of the finite-size 2D models is also suggested by plotting the normalized mass in 2D continuum and lattice bond percolation models, versus an effective percolation parameter, independently of the system structure (i.e. lattice or continuum) and of the possible directions allowed for percolation (i.e. isotropic or directed) in regions close to the percolation thresholds. Our study is the first attempt to map the scaling behaviour of the mass for both lattice and continuum model systems into one curve.Comment: 9 pages, Revtex, 2 PostScript figure

    Ī±ā€“E-catenin binds to dynamitin and regulates dynactin-mediated intracellular traffic

    Ī±ā€“Epithelial catenin (E-catenin) is an important cellā€“cell adhesion protein. In this study, we show that Ī±ā€“E-catenin also regulates intracellular traffic by binding to the dynactin complex component dynamitin. Dynactin-mediated organelle trafficking is increased in Ī±ā€“E-catenināˆ’/āˆ’ keratinocytes, an effect that is reversed by expression of exogenous Ī±ā€“E-catenin. Disruption of adherens junctions in low-calcium media does not affect dynactin-mediated traffic, indicating that Ī±ā€“E-catenin regulates traffic independently from its function in cellā€“cell adhesion. Although neither the integrity of dynactinā€“dynein complexes nor their association with vesicles is affected by Ī±ā€“E-catenin, Ī±ā€“E-catenin is necessary for the attenuation of microtubule-dependent trafficking by the actin cytoskeleton. Because the actin-binding domain of Ī±ā€“E-catenin is necessary for this regulation, we hypothesize that Ī±ā€“E-catenin functions as a dynamic link between the dynactin complex and actin and, thus, integrates the microtubule and actin cytoskeleton during intracellular trafficking

Oleh karena itu, pada kajian ini dirancang model perancangan tugas menulis berbasis semiotik yang khusus diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa di program studi bisnis. Artikelinimembahasbagaimanapenerapan model perancangan tugas menulisberbasis semiotik untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kewirausahaan mahasiswa, khususnya dalam hal menulis aktivitas bisnis.Ā  Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah metode simak, wawancara,dankuesioner kepada147mahasiswa di Jurusan Administrasi Niaga, Politeknik Negeri Bali, tahun 2019/2020. Data yang terkumpul diolah dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengacu pada profil kemampuan menulis (ESL composition profile). Hasilpenelitianinimenunjukkanbahwa94,6% responden mengatakanbahwamodel perancangan tugas menulis berbasis semiotik Ā ini mampu mendukungĀ  pengetahuan kewirausahaan. Ā Dari Ā hasil analisis Ā juga dapat Ā disimpulkanĀ  bahwa Ā Ā rata-rata kemampuan menulis mahasiswa dengan menggunakan model perancangan tugas menulis berbasis semiotik sebesar 77,5 yang berarti sudah tergolong dalam kategori baik dengan kisaran tingkat keterbacaan (fog index) antara 10-14

    The crystallographic orientation dependence of the farā€infrared (FIR) light generated at the (001) surface of a zincblende semiconductor is shown to derive principally from bulk differenceā€frequency mixing. A strong modulation is observed for 1ā€GW/cm2 pulses on InP, which demonstrates that the radiated FIR wave produced by bulk optical rectification is comparable to that generated by the transport of photoinjected carriers. Using the bulk rectification light as a clock, we show that more than 95% of the light produced from an InP (111) crystal by 100ā€fs, 100ā€Ī¼J pulses is generated in a time shorter than the excitation pulse

    Implementation of Green Practices on Room Attendant at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort

    Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze whether the room attendant at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort had implemented green practices and to find out which indicators need to be improved and maintained in implementing green practices. Research methods: This study uses descriptive statistical analysis techniques with data collection methods by means of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The method of determining the informants using purposive sampling method with the number of informants 33 people from room attendant employees. Findings: The room attendant has implemented green practices very appropriately In the implementation of green practices, there are 3 green practices variables with 9 indicators, where in implementing this program there are 2 indicators that need to be improved, namely the first use of reused bed linen in hotel rooms and secondly the use of reused towels in bathrooms. In an effort to improve the 2 indicators of green practices, the author suggests using or multiplying decorative ornaments containing words or writings that ask guests to reuse bed linen and towels in the hotel room. Implication: With the implementation of green practices in room attendants, it is expected to reduce the impact of environmental damage that can be caused by the hotel industry

    Pura Luhur Uluwatu yang berada di ujung selatan kaki Pulau Bali terletak di Desa Uluwatu, Kecamatan Kuta Selatan, Kabupaten Badung sangatlah terkenal, dan keberadaannya merupakan salah satu daya tarik wisata unggulan di Bali. Di berbagai majalah dan brosur pariwisata Bali kerap kali terpampang foto Pura Uluwatu yang berdiri menjulang dengan latar belakang hamparan laut biru yang memukau. Pura Uluwatu telah menjadi ikon pariwisata Bali. Warga Desa Adat Pecatu yang mengemban tanggung jawab dan menjadi pendukung utama kegiatan perawatan maupun ritual keagamaan di Pura Uluwatu, sehingga bisa terus menebarkan pesona yang mampu menarik minat wisatawan. Pura Luhur Uluwatu merupakan salah satu obyek wisata andalan di Pulau Bali, dan pada kenyataannya Desa Pecatu  mengalami pertumbuhan pesat wisatawannya sejak tahun 1990-an. Berdasarkan Struktur Desa Pecatu, Pura Luhur Uluwatu berada pada Manajemen khusus dan berada di bawah Desa Adat Pecatu yang di bawahnya ada bidang Pemandu Wisata. Jurusan Pariwisata Politeknik Negeri Bali sebagai lembaga pendidikan vokasi mengamati perlunya peningkatan SDM Pemandu Wisata Pura Luhur Uluwatu, terutama bahasa asing termasuk bahasa Jepang. Dengan meningkatkan kualitas bahasa dalam melayani wisatawan asing diharapkan kedatangan wisatawan asingpun meningkat, dan pada gilirannya peningkatan ekonomipun meningkat pula. Dari pengamatan yang dilakukan, Pemandu Wisata di Pura Uluwatu masih kurang mampu berkomunikasi dengan orang asing, terutama dengan orang Jepang. Oleh karena itu kemampuan komunikasi Pemandu Wisata yang masih minim harus ditingkatkan. Kondisi ini perlu disikapi dengan memberikan pelatihan bahasa Jepang Dasar bagi Pemandu Wisata di Pura Luhur Uluwatu, khususnya bahasa Jepang yang menekankan pada pelayanan pariwisata dan komunikasi sehari-hari. Dengan meningkatnya kemampuan bahasa Jepang yang tepat, diharapkan akan meningkatkan kualitas layanan Pemandu Wisata Pura Luhur Uluwatu kepada pengunjung (customer service) khususnya wisatawan Jepang dapat mencapai kepuasan pengunjung (customer satisfaction) yang pada gilirannya wisatawan asing akan lebih banyak datang dan nantinya dapat meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat

    ---Since 1950s, the concept of Kongwu (ē©ŗē„”, Emptiness, Nothingness) has migrated into American-European experimental performances, including those of John Cage and Cage-influenced artists who developed Happenings, Fluxus, and intermedia practices. This research-through-practice investigates how the concept of kongwu, an intercultural synthesis of Chinese Daoism and Indian Buddhism, may shape the principles underlying performance making and how performance may, in turn, elucidate Kongwu way of making sense the world. ---The installation-performance, Poem without Language contemplates Kongwuā€™s distrust of language by undermining the communicative purpose of writing and responds to Nam June Paikā€™s approach to media language. The research practice, One Street, Three Persons, Different Narratives, and Different Memories responds to John Cageā€™s use of silence to revise time and measurement, and exposes the habit, how we experience the ā€˜presentā€™ as accumulations of the past, and how we order experiences as a linear continuity, which we call ā€˜timeā€™. My performance, ā€¦ is Present suggests different definitions of the ā€˜meditative mindā€™ and ā€˜being-here-and-nowā€™ and critiques the relationship between embodiment and identity in Marina Abramovićā€™s construction of ā€˜suchnessā€™. ----Three works offer one response to the poetics and politics of intercultural encounters in the context of Chan/Zen in intermedia performance.     Penetration of hot electrons through a cold disordered wire

    We study a penetration of an electron with high energy E<<T through strongly disordered wire of length L<<a (a being the localization length). Such an electron can loose, but not gain the energy, when hopping from one localized state to another. We have found a distribution function for the transmission coefficient t. The typical t remains exponentially small in L/a, but with the decrement, reduced compared to the case of direct elastic tunnelling. The distribution function has a relatively strong tail in the domain of anomalously high t; the average ~(a/L)^2 is controlled by rare configurations of disorder, corresponding to this tail.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
