Business marketing activities in Ukraine during wartime

    Get PDF
The war in Ukraine dealt a crushing blow to the country’s economy. The relevance of the topic is due to the marketing ability to be an effective tool for restoring and developing business in Ukraine. The paper aims to define the state and prospects for developing business and its marketing component during the war in Ukraine. The research analysis demonstrates that the share of business representatives who completely or partially ceased their activities during the first three months of the war decreased from 75.3% in March to 49.0% in May (compared to February 24, 2022), which is indicative of the gradual resumption of business in Ukraine. At the same time, it was found that in May 2022, the food retail, non-food retail, household appliances, and electronics sectors partially resumed their work. The best renewal rates are observed in the jewelry sector, and the worst – in the entertainment sector. A study of marketing activities in Ukraine shows that the most positive changes regarding gradual renewal are observed in digital marketing. The paper highlights the key consequences of hostilities for Ukrainian business and its marketing activities: supply chain disruption, reduced purchasing power, changes in consumer demand, stockpiling, and a state of uncertainty among business representatives. In addition, the study offers general approaches to adapting marketing and SMM during the war to preserve, restore, and further develop business in Ukraine

The prognostic value of number and composition of stromal effector cells in specimens removed during radical surgical treatment for transitional cell bladder carcinoma (Ta-4NxM0) was studied. Higher 5-year survival and less risk of recurrence corresponded to the lower count of effector cells (p = 0.007): lymphocytes (p = 0.024 and p = 0.057) and segmented leukocytes (p = 0.037 and p = 0.042). In patients without progressive cancer, the independent predictors of 5-year survival were the degree of homogeneous mast cell distribution (p = 0.041) and the count stromal lymphocytes (p = 0.070) while in those with stage pTa-pT1, these were the number of segmented leukocytes (p = 0.009) and lymphocytes (p = 0.025) of the stroma (R2 = 0.32; p = 0.008).

The paper gives an overview of peri-operative chemotherapy in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) as insufficient option, demonstrates a clinical need for the development of more efficacious and safe treatment and introduces a MAGNOLIA study proposed by the European Association of Urology Research Fund in a concept of MIBC immunotherapy. The MAGNOLIA trial conducted in 56 research centers of 10 countries assesses whether adjuvant immunotherapy with recMAGE-A3+AS15 vaccine is safe and effective and improves outcome of patients with MAGE-A3 positive MIBC after cystectomy. 60 of 273 patients have been enrolled. The trial has to be continued to elaborate a general peri-operative treatment strategy for MIBC.

Abstract Fauna Europaea provides a public web-service with an index of scientific names (including important synonyms) of all extant multicellular European terrestrial and freshwater animals and their geographical distribution at the level of countries and major islands (east of the Urals and excluding the Caucasus region). The Fauna Europaea project comprises about 230,000 taxonomic names, including 130,000 accepted species and 14,000 accepted subspecies, which is much more than the originally projected number of 100,000 species. Fauna Europaea represents a huge effort by more than 400 contributing taxonomic specialists throughout Europe and is a unique (standard) reference suitable for many user communities in science, government, industry, nature conservation and education. The Diptera-Brachycera is one of the 58 Fauna Europaea major taxonomic groups, and data have been compiled by a network of 55 specialists. Within the two-winged insects (Diptera), the Brachycera constitute a monophyletic group, which is generally given rank of suborder. The Brachycera may be classified into the probably paraphyletic 'lower brachyceran grade' and the monophyletic Eremoneura. The latter contains the Empidoidea, the Apystomyioidea with a single Nearctic species, and the Cyclorrhapha, which in turn is divided into the paraphyletic 'aschizan grade' and the monophyletic Schizophora. The latter is traditionally divided into the paraphyletic 'acalyptrate grade' and the monophyletic Calyptratae. Our knowledge of the European fauna of Diptera-Brachycera varies tremendously among families, from the reasonably well known hoverflies (Syrphidae) to the extremely poorly known scuttle flies (Phoridae). There has been a steady growth in our knowledge of European Diptera for the last two centuries, with no apparent slow down, but there is a shift towards a larger fraction of the new species being found among the families of the nematoceran grade (lower Diptera), which due to a larger number of small-sized species may be considered as taxonomically more challenging. Most of Europe is highly industrialised and has a high human population density, and the more fertile habitats are extensively cultivated. This has undoubtedly increased the extinction risk for numerous species of brachyceran flies, yet with the recent re-discovery of Thyreophora cynophila (Panzer), there are no known cases of extinction at a European level. However, few national Red Lists have extensive information on Diptera. For the Diptera-Brachycera, data from 96 families containing 11,751 species are included in this paper

Non-inflammatory Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (Scrotal pain) in a infertile man with non-palpable Testicular Seminoma and Bilateral Testicular Microlithiasis. Case study

A 26-year-old patient with cryptozoospermia turned to the International Center for Reproductive Medicine for infertility. The man underwent surgical treatment for right-sided cryptorchidism in childhood. Subsequently, he was repeatedly examined and treated for scrotal pain. An ultrasound examination of the scrotum revealed bilateral testicular microlithiasis and signs of neoplasm of the left testicle that was not detected by palpation. Based on the research data, the patient underwent left orchifuniculectomy. Based on a histological examination, the diagnosis was established: a mixed germ cell tumor seminoma and teratoma against the background of intratubular germ cell neoplasia. A case from practice allows us to justify the expansion of indications for ultrasound of the scrotum in the non-inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome (scrotal pain)
