    Morbidity dynamics of type 1 diabetes mellitus in different administrative territorial units of Azerbaijan Republic in 2012-2016

    Aim. To assess the dynamics of population’s morbidity of type 1 diabetes in different autonomous territorial units of Azerbaijan Republic. Methods. The unit of observation was a case of type 1 diabetes newly diagnosed during the calendar year. For each administrative territorial unit of Azerbaijan Republic based on the data about quantity of patients with type 1 diabetes and population, morbidity rate per 100 000 of average annual population and average error for calendar years were calculated. Results. At the beginning of observation (2012) morbidity rate of type 1 diabetes among Azerbaijan population was 54.5±0.76 per 100 000. In different administrative territorial units this indicator ranged between 2.0±1.41 and 294.8±12.0 per 100 000. Relatively low rate of type 1 diabetes was identified in Mingachevir town (2.0±1.41), Masalli (6.1±1.7), Jalilabad (5.8±1.68), Imishli (5.7±2.17), Sheki (4.5±2.17), Gusar (2.2±1.52) regions and Absheron (5.0±1.57 per 100 000). The highest morbidity rate in 2012 was observed in Shamkir (294.8±12.0), Khachmaz (278.7±12.82) and Sabirabad (236.6±11.9 per 100 000). The main trend of difference is a linear decrease of the morbidity rate, which is well explained by linear regression equation (Y=-9.078х+61.1; R2=0.95). In Azerbaijan the average morbidity rate of type 1 diabetes in 2012-2016 was 33.2±0.58 per 100 000, there are administrative territorial units with low (60 per 100 000 in Shirvan city, Sabirabad, Shamkir, Khachmaz districts). Conclusion. Morbidity rate of type 1 diabetes was different in different calendar years, ratios of the highest and lowest annual morbidity rate in Azerbaijan (3.5) and in separate administrative territorial units (4.2 in Baku, 23.9 in Ganja, 90.0 in Mingechevir, etc.) are different

    A novel cellulose adsorbent bearing chemically immobilized thiosemicarbaside is synthesized. The adsorbent is used for the preconcentration of cobalt (II), mercury (II), and cadmium (II) followed by their X-ray fluorescence quantification in the concentrate. After approximation of experimental data on sorption capacity dependency on equilibrium concentration of element in the solution in coordinates of the Langmuir equation, the linear functions with correlation coefficient ≥ 0.99 were obtained. These functions we used to calculate maximum adsorption capacity (Aмах) and adsorption equilibrium constant. Using pseudo-first order kinetic equations for the approximation of experimental data on time-dependencies of sorbents capacity for Сd2+, Co2+, Hg2+ the sorption rate constants were calculated. The possibility of determination of adsorbed Сd2+, Co2+, Hg2, by X-ray fluorescence in the sorbent phase was estimated for concentration phase under static conditions and pH =9 in case of the presence of all metals.Keywords: cellulose adsorbent, thiosemicarbazide, preconcentration(Russian)DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15826/analitika.2013.17.4.004Dzh.N. Установлена возможность использования полученного сорбента для концентрирования кобальта(II), ртути(II), кадмия(II) при рН = 9. Экспериментальные зависимости сорбционной емкости от равновесной концентрации элементов в растворе были аппроксимированы в координатах уравнением Ленгмюра, коэффициент корреляции полученных линейных функций сотавляет ≥ 0,99 . Рассчитаны значения максимальной сорбционной емкости (Aмах) и константы равновесия для всех исследуемых металлов. Оценена возможность рентгенофлуоресцентного детектирования Сd(II), Co(II), Hg(II) в фазе сорбента.     Silica gel functionalized with imidazolium group via click chemistry –new stationary phase for ion chromatography

Available online: 11.12.2021.This manuscript describes preparation of a simple effective ionexchange material based on silica gel, on the surface of which methylimidazolium bromide is fixed using a click reaction. The resulting material was used as a stationary phase for the separation and determination of Cl–, NO2–, NO3 –, I–, and SO4 2– using ion exchange chromatography. The separation efficiency and retention factors for the selected anions were studied in the pH range 3.5–6.5. The proposed material was used for the determination of Cl–, SO4 2– in water and can be proposed for successful use in real water samples.This publication was financially supported by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science (project no.     Study of biochemical markers in newborns with necrotizing enterocolitis

    Aim. To study the level of biochemical markers to optimize the diagnosis and prognosis of necrotizing enterocolitis in newborns. Methods. 110 newborns with necrotizing enterocolitis were observed in the intensive care unit at the age of 1 to 28 days. According to the stages of necrotizing enterocolitis, all examined newborns were divided into three groups. Group 1 consisted of 49 newborns (40.5%) with necrotizing enterocolitis stage I, group 2 included 48 newborns (39.7%) with necrotizing enterocolitis stage II and group 3 included 13 newborns (10.7%) with necrotizing enterocolitis stage III. In 40 newborns with necrotizing enterocolitis, matrix metalloproteinase-2, -9, -17, cathelicidin, transferrin in the blood and fecal calprotectin in the feces were measured by ELISA. Results. Comparative analysis demonstrated that matrix metalloproteinase-2 was increased in newborns from group 1 by 6.9 times, in group 2 - by 8.3 times and in group 3 - by 10.7 times. Similarly, the level of metalloproteinase-9 was increased in group 1 by 3 times, in group 2 by 3.4 times, and in group 3 by 4.5 times compared to the newborns from the control group. The concentration of metalloproteinase-17 in newborns from groups 1 and 2 was almost the same and increased on average by 2.5 times, and by 3.6 times in group 3 compared to the control. In examined newborns, the highest level of cathelicidin and lowest level of transferrin were observed in necrotizing enterocolitis stage III, which indicates the more severe course of the disease and may be a predictor of changes in treatment tactics. So, taking into account the diagnostic value of fecal calprotectin (75%), it can be used as a noninvasive marker of inflammation in the intestine. Conclusion. The established changes in the level of biochemical markers (metalloproteinases, cathelicidin and transferrin in the blood and fecal calprotectin in feces) have diagnostic and prognostic value in the diagnosis, prediction of outcomes and optimization of treatment tactics of necrotizing enterocolitis in neonatal practice

    Seasonal Variations of the 7Be Solar Neutrino Flux

    Measuring the 7Be solar neutrino flux is crucial towards solving the solar neutrino puzzle. The Borexino experiment, and possibly the KamLAND experiment, will be capable of studying the 7Be neutrinos in the near future. We discuss (1) how the seasonal variation of the Borexino and KamLAND data can be used to measure the 7Be solar neutrino flux in a background independent way and (2) how anomalous seasonal variations might be used to discover vacuum neutrino oscillations, independent of the solar model and the measurement of the background. In particular, we find that, after three years of Borexino or KamLAND running, vacuum neutrino oscillations can be either established or excluded for almost all values of (sin^2 2 theta, Delta m^2) preferred by the Homestake, GALLEX, SAGE, and Super-Kamiokande data. We also discuss how well seasonal variations of the data can be used to measure (sin^2 2 theta, Delta m^2) in the case of vacuum oscillations.Comment: 39 pages, 13 figures, uses psfig.
