Copolymerazaion of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidon with Acrylic Acid and Methylmethacrylate
Low conversion copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidon M.W = (111.14) VP (monomer-1) has been conducted with acrylic acid AA and methymethacrylate MMA in ethanol at 70ºC , using Benzoyl peroxide BPO as initiator . The copolymer composition has been determined by elemental analysis. The monomer reactivity ratios have been calculated by the Kelen-Tudos and Finman-Ross graphical procedures . The derived reactivity ratios (r1 , r2 ) are : (0.51 , 4.85) for (VP / AA ) systems and (0.34 , 7.58) for (VP , MMA) systems , and found the reactivity ratios of the monomer AA , MMA is mor than the monomer VP in the copolymerization of (VP / AA) and (VP /MMA) systems respectly . The reactivity ratios values were used for microstructures calculation

Prevalence of Salmonella species from poultry eggs of local stores in Duhok
Background: Salmonellosis is one of the foodborne illness acquired by consumption of infected raw or undercooked eggs and causes major public health problem. The aim of this study was isolation and identification of Salmonella spp. from the eggshells and the egg contents samples.Methods: In this study, a total 350 eggs were randomly collected from five local stores in Duhok and Zakho city over a period of 6 months in summer of 2016. Eggs from each local store were collected and transferred to the microbiology laboratory. The conventional culture method used for detection of Salmonella spp.Results: Out of the 350 eggs, seventeen (4.85%) samples of eggshells contaminated with Salmonella spp. and none of the egg content samples were contaminated with Salmonella genus. Out of 17 positive eggs, three different Salmonella serotypes were identified including; Salmonella enteritidis (10 strains), Salmonella typhimurium (5 strains), Salmonella typhi (2 strains).Conclusions: The results of the present study provide the recent dataset of the prevalence of Salmonella spp. in eggs sold at local stores in the city. All isolates showed resistant to tetracycline, oxacillin and sulphadimethoxazole due to the indiscriminate use of these antibiotics in chicken at sub-therapeutic level or prophylactic doses which promotes selection of antimicrobial resistant strains and also increases the human health risks associated with consumption of contaminated quail eggs. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study in Zakho- Duhok city, investigating the occurrence of Salmonella spp. in eggshell and content egg sold at local stores
Using of Chroococcus SP. to Treat Polluted Water with Cadmium & Nickel
Chroococcus sp. was exposed to different concentrations 0.3, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 ppm, from cadmium and nickel. The results revealed that the ability of the alga to remove cadmium and nickel was increased with the increase of the metal concentration which the alga exposed to them and this case does not record before. This may relate to mechanisms of adsorption and removal which not understood perfectly till now according to many researches that concerned with this field of studies. It was noticed that the removal percentage of cadmium reaches to 77.66 & 76% in the two higher concentrations 6 & 7 ppm, which exposed to the alga till the last day (twelve days) from the experiment, but same percentage (77.66 & 76%) was recorded on the eighth day of the experiment to remove nickel and decrease to 12.5 & 28% on the last day of the experiment for the above two concentrations
Multi-Modal Stories: LIS Students Explore Reading, Literacy, and Library Service Through the Lens of ‘The 39 Clues”
The article presents a conceptual framework for exploring multi-modal stories for children using the children’s adventure series, The 39 Clues. The framework is accompanied by concrete examples of student learning experiences, in the form of student reflections on issues related to the convergence of media and the nature of reading and children’s library service in the 21st century. The article begins with a look at the series, The 39 Clues, describing its history and its format. It then provides a framework for exploring some of the issues related to reading The 39 Clues, first, by introducing some concepts from the literature associated with reading in the digital world and then, outlining some of the practical concerns that librarians might have in relation to The 39 Clues. The article then presents the reflections of five students – one MLIS student and four PhD students – who considered multi-modal stories in light of their future practice, research, and teaching in LIS. The article concludes by summarizing five over-arching themes that emerged from the students’ explorations - reading as a two-track experience, questions about authorship, evaluation skills needed to review multimodal stories, opportunities for information literacy instruction, and access and equity issues

Publisher Copyright: © 2021 The Author(s)This work addresses manufacture, testing and simulation of foot valve lever (FVL) for monoblock pump industry, using a cost-effective casting design process. The impact of different types of sands, such as air-set, dry and sodium silicate as well as gating designs, namely H-, U- and O-type, were studied with respect to surface roughness and porosity. The mold pattern was produced using additive manufacturing (AM) technology. Both experimental and numerical investigations were performed on the temperature distribution of molten metal at random locations for the different gating configurations or designs, considering mold filling and solidification. It was evident from the experimental investigation that contribution of air-set sand and O-type gating architecture showed limited consistency effects. Importantly, gating architecture was the most influential parameter to determine all specified quality outcomes, independent of sand mold. An order of O < H < U-type was obtained from the gating designs for minimal surface roughness and percentage of porosity. Furthermore, the microstructure analysis depicted only an irregular defect with minimum quantity at both surface and cross-section of O-type at two different locations. Optimum pouring temperatures of 740, 750 and 790 °C were obtained for mold filling of all 24 components of H-, O- and U-type of gating designs, respectively. The varying solidification temperature was observed from real time thermocouple reading, which was in close agreement with the numerical simulation. Evidently, O-type of gating design exhibited best performance for large-scale development of the FVL in terms of surface roughness, porosity and cooling effects.Peer reviewe
BBGDASH: A Max-Min Bounded Bitrate Guidance for SDN Enabled Adaptive Video Streaming.
The increase in video traffic and the end-user demands for high-quality videos have triggered academia and industry to find novel mechanisms for media distribution. Among the available streaming services, HTTP adaptive streaming (HAS) is being the de facto standard for multi-bitrate streaming. Recent studies show that the bitrate adaptation of client-driven HAS applications is challenging due to the fact that they are based on locally taken decisions for adapting the quality of the received video. Software-defined networking (SDN) has emerged as a new network paradigm to provide centralised management. The programmability and flexibility of SDN can be utilised to enhance the delivery of video over the Internet. In this paper, we present a novel and scalable network-assisted approach (denoted BBGDASH) that identifies the boundary range of the requested bitrate levels while preserving the final quality adaptation at the client. Experimental results demonstrate the potential of the proposed approach for delivering the video over SDN-enabled networks
Effect of Ag2O substituted in bioactive glasses: a synergistic relationship between antibacterial zone and radiation attenuation properties
In this study, a promising relationship between antibacterial zone and radiation attenuation properties was investigated in Ag2O doped bioactive glasses with a chemical composition of xAg2O–20Li2O–25TeO2-(55-x)B2O3 (where x = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mol%). For this aim, a wide-ranging radiation attenuation characterization procedure was performed on Ag2O substituted bioactive glasses. The general-purpose Monte Carlo code MCNPX (v.2.7.0) was used to model bioactive glasses. The mass attenuation coefficients were calculated using a gamma-ray transmission setup. The coefficients obtained were used to determine other important attenuation properties. Finally, for particular behaviors, exposure (EBF) and energy absorption (EABF) build-up factors were calculated for specific attitudes of Ag2O substitutions in bioactive glasses during the interaction process. The results showed that there is direct relationship between Ag2O substitution amount and radiation attenuation properties.
