Constraining Higgsino Kink Tracks from Existing LHC Searches

Considering the supersymmetric model with the long-lived charged Higgsino, we discuss how Higgsino kink signals can show up in the latest LHC Disappearing Track (DT) and stable chargino searches. We derive constraints on the Higgsino kink signal, and characterize it in comparison to the Wino DT and the slepton kink track. We also discuss how to infer Higgsino model kinematics.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures. v3: published version with major update based on the latest dat

    A Knowledge-building Process in Interaction-based E-Learning

    Get PDF
This research articulates a knowledge-building process in interaction-based e-learning. For exploration of a knowledge-building process, an interaction-based e-learning program was developed and implemented at a college level course. Throughout the course, quantitative and qualitative data including students\u27 perceived knowledge-building process from questionnaires, online messages, interview data, and participatory observation journal were collected and analyzed. As results, an observable action model and a conceptual model of the knowledge-building process were derived, which students and experts verified. Cognitive achievement factors and satisfaction factors were also considered in the knowledge building process model. Meaning and implication of each stage in the model were discussed

Perceived Retail Crowding, Emotional Distance, and Consumer Response in Fashion Stores

    Get PDF
The same degree of crowding can be perceived differently by different people depending on the consumers\u27 individual characteristics. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of crowding degree and perceived similarity with other customers in a store on the in-store emotion state and purchase intention. A lower perceived crowding degree resulted in a higher pleasure emotion state, and a higher perceived crowding degree, led to a higher arousal emotion state. The pleasure, arousal, and dominance emotion states and the purchase intention were found to be higher in the group that perceived a high similarity with other in-store customers. It was found that customers felt more positive emotions and had more positive behaviors when they perceived that they were similar to others in the store environment. This shows that the presence of other customers who were highly similar to themselves is an important factor in customers\u27 shopping behavior

Connection Structure Analysis of the “Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles” through Citing and Cited

    Get PDF
References to articles serve an important role, linking groups of articles with other academic articles, forming a huge and complex network of articles. This study investigated the connection structure of the Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles (JKSCT) by analyzing subject categories of journals with high levels of citing and cited in JKSCT. Journals listed in Korea Citation Index were used for the empirical study. Connection structures were analyzed using network analysis

High energy-charged cell factory for heterologous protein synthesis

    Get PDF
Overexpression of gluconeogenic phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PCK) under glycolytic conditions enables Escherichia coli to maintain a greater intracellular ATP concentration and, consequently, to up-regulate genes for amino acid and nucleotide biosynthesis. To investigate the effect of a high intracellular ATP concentration on heterologous protein synthesis, we studied the expression of a foreign gene product, enhanced green fluorescence protein (eGFP), under control of the T7 promoter in E. coli BL21(DE3) strain overexpressing PCK. This strain was able to maintain twice as much intracellular ATP and to express two times more foreign protein than the control strain. These results indicate that a high energy-charged cell can be beneficial as a protein-synthesizing cell factory. The potential uses of such a cell factory are discussed

Does higher education foster critical and creative learners? An exploration of two universities in South Korea and the USA

    Get PDF
This paper describes two studies that explore students' beliefs about critical and creative learning at two universities, and considers the implications of those beliefs in comparison to the universities' stated education goals. One is a mixed method study of students at a top university in Korea, and the second is a comparative study between the Korean university and a United States (US) university. The first study found that both high-achievers and the general population at a top Korean university perceived their critical and creative abilities as lower than their receptive learning abilities, and that higher achievers were neither more critical nor creative than lower achievers. The second study finds that the Korean university students, compared to US students, were more likely to rate their receptive learning ability as higher than their critical and creative learning abilities. Comparisons across year of higher education (HE) suggest that Korean students' perceptions did not significantly change with respect to year in school, while US students' perceptions of critical learning abilities significantly increased across school years. Results are discussed with respect to the impact of culture, epistemological beliefs, and HE instruction on critical and creative learning

Brand Image and Evaluation Factors of Fashion Product Advertisement

Brand image is a collection of things related with brand that consumers have in the memory (Keller, 1993) and corporations are making much efforts to build a brand image and advertisement has been used as a major method to inform the brand image. Advertisement is communication message performed for the purpose of positively change the consumer’s emotion for corporations, brands and trademarks

Social Network Analysis of Global Value Chain: Focused on Fabric Cotton

    Get PDF
Companies try to establishing optimal production networks that can perform all stages of production activities at competitive cost and quality around the world. In this study, we try to determine the structure of the global value chain in the apparel industry using social network analysis. Data for analysis were created a matrix using 2005 and 2015 trade data about the top 10 trading partners in the import and export countries of cotton fabric (hs code 5208, 5209). China was the largest exporting country. Comparing the betweenness centrality and closeness centrality of exports of cotton fabrics, India and China are playing their role as mediating countries. Vietnamese cotton imports have increased significantly. The role of mediators in the importation of cotton fiber was continued by China, the United States, and European countries. We identified the part of the fashion industry structure by investigating the international trade patterns of cotton fabric

The Neuroprotective Effect of Methanol Extract of Gagamjungjihwan and Fructus Euodiae on Ischemia-Induced Neuronal and Cognitive Impairment in the Rat

Gagamjungjihwan (GJ), a decoction consisting of five herbs including ginseng, Acori Graminei Rhizoma, Uncariae Ramulus et Uncus, Polygalae Radic and Frustus Euodiae (FE), has been widely used as herbal treatment for ischemia. In order to investigate the neuroprotective action of this novel prescription, we examined the influence of GJ and FE on learning and memory using the Morris water maze and studied their affects on the central cholinergic system in the hippocampus with neuronal and cognitive impairment. After middle cerebral artery occlusion was applied for 2 h, rats were administered GJ (200 mg kg−1, p.o.) or FE (200 mg kg−1, p.o.) daily for 2 weeks, followed by training and performance of the Morris water maze tasks. Rats with ischemic insults showed impaired learning and memory of the tasks. Pre-treatment with GJ and FE produced improvement in the escape latency to find the platform. Pre-treatments with GJ and FE also reduced the loss of cholinergic immunoreactivity in the hippocampus. The results demonstrated that GJ and FE have a protective effect against ischemia-induced neuronal and cognitive impairment. Our results suggest that GJ and FE might be useful in the treatment of vascular dementia
