Employee Performance Appraisal: Key to Success for Organizational Growth

All organizations use performance appraisal for several purposes in a systematic way using multifarious techniques and tools to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of their employees in relation to certain pre-established criteria and organizational goal as objectively as possible to ultimately know whether the organization is moving towards its predetermined goals. .. Performance Appraisal ensures the best utilization of employee talent because it helps the organization to reward the employees having better abilities and rectify the wrong placement which in turns improves the human resource quality responsible for overall growth of the organization. The inability of organization to adopt a sound system of performance appraisal will be a hindrance to put an optimum use of the human resource in this era of globalization to attain the competitive advantage over others. The matter of fact is that Management assesses the performance of employees to maintain organizational control and disburse rewards and punishments to keep them on the track of organizational growt

A Bjorken sum rule for semileptonic Ωb\Omega_b decays to ground and excited charmed baryon states

We derive a Bjorken sum rule for semileptonic Ωb\Omega_b decays to ground and low-lying negative-parity excited charmed baryon states, in the heavy quark limit. We discuss the restriction from this sum rule on form factors and compare it with some models.Comment: 10 pages, RevTex, no figure, Alberta Thy--26--9

The Coronal Structure of AB Doradus

We perform a numerical simulation of the corona of the young, rapidly rotating K0 dwarf AB Doradus using a global MHD model. The model is driven by a surface map of the radial magnetic field constructed using Zeeman-Doppler Imaging. We find that the global structure of the stellar corona is dominated by strong azimuthal tangling of the magnetic field due to the rapid rotation. The MHD solution enables us to calculate realistic Alfv\'en surfaces and we can therefore estimate the stellar mass loss rate and angular momentum loss rate without making undue theoretical simplifications. We consider three cases, parametrized by the base density of the corona, that span the range of possible solutions for the system. We find that overall, the mass and angular-momentum loss rates are higher than in the solar case; the mass loss rates are 10 to 500 times higher, and the angular momentum loss rate can be up to 3×1043\times{10}^4 higher than present day solar values. Our simulations show that this model can be use to constrain the wide parameter space of stellar systems. It also shows that an MHD approach can provide more information about the physical system over the commonly used potential field extrapolation.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure

Evaluation of kinetic parameters of traps in thermoluminescence phosphors

A method for evaluating trap depth E, order of kinetics b and frequency factor s from a thermoluminescence (TL) glow peak has been developed. The method is based on using intensities and temperatures at any three points on the glow peak. Unlike similar techniques that provide no expression for frequency factor, the present formulation provides such an expression. The expression does not require knowledge of the temperature at which maximum intensity occurs, a parameter not usually known accurately from experimental glow peak data. For the method, it is found that use of points in the ascending part of the glow peak where the intensities are less than 10% maximum intensity gives parameter values closest to the true ones. Possible reasons for getting less accurate results when points are taken beyond this region are discussed. Values of the activation energy calculated using the present technique were always close to the true value. However, the frequency factor only approaches the true value as the dose given to the sample approaches saturation. When the three data points are selected in the initial-rise region, the equation for evaluating E in the method described in this paper becomes a two-point version of the initial-rise method. The advantage of the present technique over the initial-rise method is that it also gives b and hence s. The method is used to analyse the TL glow curve of a gamma-irradiated sample from Ijero-Ekiti, Nigeria

Objective: Febuxostat is more effective/superior to Allopurinol in reducing the serum uric acid (SUA) level in the treatment of hyperuricemic withgout. Methods: This randomized control study included 200 hyperuricemic patients with gout, at Multi-center study including Outdoor Departments ofMedicine from four different hospitals of Lahore, Pakistan. Patients age range 18-50 years diagnosis with hyperuricemia and gout, SUA >8 mg/dlwere included while severe renal impairment and alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase patients were excluded from the study. Results: About 200 patients treated with hyperuricemic with gout were randomly divided into four groups (50%) patients were in each groupreceived different treatment. Out of 200 patients, 118 (59%) were male and 82 (41%) were female with mean age 42.37±9.47 years. Among theFebuxostat group, patients' success rate of lowering SUA level was found to be 32 (64%) as compared to Allopurinol 16 (32%). Drug compliance wassimilar among treatment groups, i.e. Allopurinol and Febuxostat while the trend toward drug compliance in Allopurinol + Vitamin C and Febuxostat +Vitamin C groups showed similar in number. Conclusion: Febuxostat is safe and effective to Allopurinol for the treatment of hyperuricemia with gout as the Febuxostat has a significant associationwith lowering SUA concentration <6 mg/dl. It is concluded that although Febuxostat is safe and effect alone in gouty patients, but it has somehow alittle effect with Vitamin C especially in patients who are feeble. Keywords: Febuxostat, Allopurinol, Serum uric acid.Â

A path planning and path tracking methodologies are used to give different desired tracking trajectories.  PSO algorithm is using to find the optimal parameters of FOPID controllers. The kinematic and dynamic models of wheeled mobile robot for desired trajectory tracking with PSO algorithm are simulated in Simulink-Matlab. Simulation results show that the optimal FOPID controllers are more effective and has better dynamic performance than the conventional methods

Weyl collineations that are not curvature collineations

Though the Weyl tensor is a linear combination of the curvature tensor, Ricci tensor and Ricci scalar, it does not have all and only the Lie symmetries of these tensors since it is possible, in principle, that "asymmetries cancel". Here we investigate if, when and how the symmetries can be different. It is found that we can obtain a metric with a finite dimensional Lie algebra of Weyl symmetries that properly contains the Lie algebra of curvature symmetries. There is no example found for the converse requirement. It is speculated that there may be a fundamental reason for this lack of "duality".Comment: 9 page

Polaronic behavior of undoped high-Tc cuprates

We present angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) data on undoped La2CuO4, indicating polaronic coupling between bosons and charge carriers. Using a shell model, we calculate the electron-phonon coupling and find that it is strong enough to give polarons. We develop an efficient method for calculating ARPES spectra in undoped systems. Using the calculated couplings, we find the width of the phonon side band in good agreement with experiment. We analyze reasons for the observed dependence of the width on the binding energy.Comment: 4 pages, RevTeX, 5 eps figures, more material available at http://www.fkf.mpg.de/andersen/phonons
