Rotor aeroelastic stability coupled with helicopter body motion
A 5.5-foot-diameter, soft-in-plane, hingeless-rotor system was tested on a gimbal which allowed the helicopter rigid-body pitch and roll motions. Coupled rotor/airframe aeroelastic stability boundaries were explored and the modal damping ratios were measured. The time histories were correlated with analysis with excellent agreement. The effects of forward speed and some rotor design parameters on the coupled rotor/airframe stability were explored both by model and analysis. Some physical insights into the coupled stability phenomenon are suggested
Further investigation of a contactless patient-electrode interface of an Electrical Impedance Mammography system
The Sussex Mk4 Electrical Impedance Mammography (EIM) system is a novel instrument, designed for the detection of early breast cancer, based upon Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT). Many innovations in the field have been incorporated in the design improving both signal distribution and response. This paper investigates the behaviour of the contactless patient-electrode interface. The interface was studied in detail using phantom and healthy volunteer, in-vivo, data. Our findings show the necessity for the careful design of electrode enclosure so that the response of the system is not affected by the unpredictable positioning of the breast; it closely mimics those conditions seen when using the phantom. The paper includes a number of possible designs and their individual characteristics. In addition an explanation on the unanticipated effects and solutions for such are described. © 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd
u-Channel Color Transparency Observables
We propose to study the onset of color transparency in hard exclusive
reactions in the backward regime. Guided by the encouraging JLab results on
backward pion and omega electro-production data at moderate Q^2, which may be
interpreted as the signal of an early scaling regime where the scattering
amplitude factorizes in a hard coefficient function convoluted with nucleon to
meson transition distribution amplitudes, we show that the study of these
channels on nuclear targets opens a new opportunity to test the appearance of
nuclear color transparency for a fast moving nucleon
A Census Of Highly Symmetric Combinatorial Designs
As a consequence of the classification of the finite simple groups, it has
been possible in recent years to characterize Steiner t-designs, that is
t-(v,k,1) designs, mainly for t = 2, admitting groups of automorphisms with
sufficiently strong symmetry properties. However, despite the finite simple
group classification, for Steiner t-designs with t > 2 most of these
characterizations have remained longstanding challenging problems. Especially,
the determination of all flag-transitive Steiner t-designs with 2 < t < 7 is of
particular interest and has been open for about 40 years (cf. [11, p. 147] and
[12, p. 273], but presumably dating back to 1965). The present paper continues
the author's work [20, 21, 22] of classifying all flag-transitive Steiner
3-designs and 4-designs. We give a complete classification of all
flag-transitive Steiner 5-designs and prove furthermore that there are no
non-trivial flag-transitive Steiner 6-designs. Both results rely on the
classification of the finite 3-homogeneous permutation groups. Moreover, we

Lorentz invariance of entanglement classes in multipartite systems
We analyze multipartite entanglement in systems of spin-1/2 particles from a
relativistic perspective. General conditions which have to be met for any
classification of multipartite entanglement to be Lorentz invariant are
derived, which contributes to a physical understanding of entanglement
classification. We show that quantum information in a relativistic setting
requires the partition of the Hilbert space into particles to be taken
seriously. Furthermore, we study exemplary cases and show how the spin and
