Abstract. This study aims to obtain objective information about the presentation of mathematical objects in the form of verbal and symbolic to improve the conceptual understanding and interest in student learning after being given a lesson with the presentation of mathematical objects in the form of verbal and symbolic in the Mathematical Statistics Course Semester VI Mathematics Education Study Program PMIPA FKIP University of Tanjungpura PontianakThe sample of this research is the fourth semester students who follow the Basic Mathematics course of Mathematics Education program of PMIPA FKIP for the academic year 2016-2017. Data collection is done by giving test result of learning after given treatment. The essay-like test is 10 questions. The result of the research shows that there is an increase of students' learning result through presentation of mathematical object in verbal and symbolic form to improve conceptual understanding in Mathematics Statistics Semester VI Mathematics Education Study Program and there is an increase of learning interest after given learning by presentation of mathematical object in verbal and symbolic form

Tracking Control of Uncertain Nonholonomic Mobile Robots: Smooth Switching Approach

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT Backstepping based adaptive tracking control of nonholonomic mobile robots in the presence of both kinematic and dynamic parametric uncertainty is presented. The major challenge is the possible singularity phenomenon due to the approach of zero of the estimated input vector field entering the denominator of the control input, a common drawback of adaptive linearization-based schemes. A hybrid control approach, which switches between an adaptive and a robust control schemes, is developed for solving such a problem. It retains the advantage of an adaptive control approach to a greatest extent while avoiding the possible blowup of the torque inputs simultaneously. A case study on a specific Type (2; 0) mobile robot is provided in the final to verify the usefulness of the proposed design

Construction of Cell–Extracellular Matrix Microenvironments by Conjugating ECM Proteins on Supported Lipid Bilayers

The cell membrane is an organized and fluid structure that modulates cellular activities in response to specific extracellular signals, and maintains the critical communication, integration, and homeostasis between the cytosol and the extracellular matrix (ECM). In recent years, tissue engineering and cell biology research has been rapidly progressed by a remarkable understanding of cell and ECM interfaces. In this review, the design of new biomimetic platforms based on the conjugation of ECM proteins on solid supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) will be summarized. The platforms provide a better system to evaluate cellular responses to specific recognition events, gradient, mechanical property, nanostructures, and inter- and intra-molecular interactions of ECM proteins on a non-fouling and fluid membrane. Moreover, the findings from the molecular interactions and cellular activities will be highlighted to look into the cell-materials mechanisms
