Linear maps on nonnegative symmetric matrices preserving a given independence number

The independence number of a square matrix AA, denoted by α(A)\alpha(A), is the maximum order of its principal zero submatrices. Let Sn+S_n^{+} be the set of n×nn\times n nonnegative symmetric matrices with zero trace, and let JnJ_n be the n×nn\times n matrix with all entries equal to one. Given any integers n,tn,t with 2tn12\le t\le n-1, we prove that a linear map ϕ:Sn+Sn+\phi: S_n^+\rightarrow S_n^+ satisfies ϕ(JnIn)=JnIn\phi(J_n-I_n)=J_n-I_n and α(ϕ(X))=t     α(X)=t    for all XSn+\alpha(\phi(X))=t~\iff \alpha(X)=t {~~~~\rm for~ all~}X\in S_n^+ if and only if there is a permutation matrix PP such that \phi(X)=P^TXP{~~~~\rm for~ all~}X\in S_n^+.$

The main objective of this study is to measure the impact of training on human resource practices as well as to identify the factors those are related to effectiveness of training. The variables examined were demographics characteristics (age, gender, martial status, education level and length of working in current job), types of training, training environment and work environment . A total of 92 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents in Kedah State Development Corporation (KSDC) company. This study was designed to identify through questionnaire survey, the factors that can contribute towards training effectiveness. The results of the study found that training environment and work environment significantly affect raining effectiveness .The study provides baseline data from which the training effectiveness can be assessed and improved upon so that higher benefits can be obtained by the organization

Zero-Shot Recognition using Dual Visual-Semantic Mapping Paths

Zero-shot recognition aims to accurately recognize objects of unseen classes by using a shared visual-semantic mapping between the image feature space and the semantic embedding space. This mapping is learned on training data of seen classes and is expected to have transfer ability to unseen classes. In this paper, we tackle this problem by exploiting the intrinsic relationship between the semantic space manifold and the transfer ability of visual-semantic mapping. We formalize their connection and cast zero-shot recognition as a joint optimization problem. Motivated by this, we propose a novel framework for zero-shot recognition, which contains dual visual-semantic mapping paths. Our analysis shows this framework can not only apply prior semantic knowledge to infer underlying semantic manifold in the image feature space, but also generate optimized semantic embedding space, which can enhance the transfer ability of the visual-semantic mapping to unseen classes. The proposed method is evaluated for zero-shot recognition on four benchmark datasets, achieving outstanding results.Comment: Accepted as a full paper in IEEE Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 201

Development of Entrepreneurship Opportunity Identification Course in Entrepreneurship Education Program for Engineering Students at Jiaxing University

The research objective was to explore the influence of the EOI course on the EOI ability of engineering students and, based on this, develop and validate the EOI course on the EOI ability of engineering students in Jiaxing University. Phase 1 used a post-test quasi-experimental group and control group design. The experimental group took compulsory and elective EEP courses, while the control group only took the compulsory EEP courses. The researcher administered a questionnaire to both groups on the effect of EEP on EOI. In Phase 2, a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was used to conduct the developed course intervention experiment with the experimental group. A pretest-posttest questionnaire and a structured interview survey on EOI abilities were administered. The research results showed that Phase 1 confirmed that EEP and EOI are positively correlated, but the current EEP is not significant in improving the EOI ability of engineering students. Phase 2 confirmed that the EOI training course developed with the combination of research results and theoretical basis could effectively improve the EOI ability of students. This research provides multiple avenues for future research, such as the survey methodology that could be used to develop the curriculum. It would be beneficial to conduct further empirical testing on how the developed curriculum influences students' EOI in more specific aspects for future research

Graphs with many independent vertex cuts

The cycles are the only 22-connected graphs in which any two nonadjacent vertices form a vertex cut. We generalize this fact by proving that for every integer k3k\ge 3 there exists a unique graph GG satisfying the following conditions: (1) GG is kk-connected; (2) the independence number of GG is greater than k;k; (3) any independent set of cardinality kk is a vertex cut of G.G. The edge version of this result does not hold. We also consider the problem when replacing independent sets by the periphery

How to Meet the Diverse Needs of Consumers: Big Data Mining based on Online Review

This article applied Word2vec and image mining on OCRs analysis. Data from Dianping.com showed that in Beijing, good taste is the primary factor for customers to choose a restaurant. Unlike the general opinion, careers and locations have little influence on cuisine choice in Beijing. Hot pot is the most popular one all over the city. Warm color, medium dark light and saturation with certain amount of grey are three key aspects for an enjoyable dining environment. Offline mouth to mouth recommendation is the most useful way to spread a restaurants reputation. So making the antecedent consumer satisfy is the most applied way to appeal new ones. This findings can help restaurant owners to run a better business and promote the satisfactory

Epidemiology and risk factors of candidemia due to Candida parapsilosis in an intensive care unit

We analyzed the clinical features and risk factors of candidemia due to C. parapsilosis (n=104) in the intensive care unit of a tertiary hospital over six years. This was a monocentric, retrospective study of candidemia, conducted from January 2013 to March 2019. Epidemiological characteristics, clinical features, invasive procedures, laboratory data and outcomes of 267 patients with candidemia were analyzed to determine risk factors of candidemia due to C. parapsilosis. Sixty-three cases of C. albicans and 204 cases of non-C. albicans Candida (NCAC) species were included, the latter was composed of 104 cases of C. parapsilosis and 100 cases of non-C. albicans species (46 cases of C. tropicalis, 22 cases of C. glabrata, 23 cases of C. guilliermondii, 5 cases of C. krusei and 4 cases of C. lusitaniae), suggesting that C. parapsilosis was the predominant Candida species isolated from cases of candidemia. A binary multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that APACHE II scores, central venous catheterization and the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics were closely related to C. parapsilosis candidemia, with OR values of 1.159, 3.913 and 2.217, respectively. In conclusion, we found that C. parapsilosis was the main pathogen among the NCAC candidemia in the ICU patients. APACHE II scores, central venous catheterization and the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics were independent risk factors for the occurrence of C. parapsilosis candidemia, which may provide data to support the early introduction of anti-fungal therapy
