Granger causality of interest rate on REIT’s return

    Get PDF
By testing Granger causality of interest rates on REIT’s total return index, the study found out this indirect causal relationship have some similarities with the direct relationship between REIT’s total return index and interest rate concluded by earlier studies. The first similarity is that the relationship does exist but is time-specific. For the whole tested time frame of 16 years, REITs is sensitive to all 11 maturities of CMT. However, when testing on the sub-periods, the long-term CMTs are found to “Granger” cause REIT’s total return during the 2008 financial crisis while none of the CMTs have explanatory power on REITs during stable environment. The result is in coherence with hypothesis of REIT’s high sensitivity to long-term interest rate. It also support an earlier finding that REIT takes more effect from interest rate during shocks than during stable times. In explaining the results, the thesis analyses the three main channels through which REIT takes effect from interest rate changes. They are through financial market forces (supply and demand), real estate industry and operating activity. This model of testing for Granger causality, which is also time-specific, should be done as a prerequisite for building time series model as it helps to decide which variable should be included. The thesis practices Toda-Yamamoto procedure, which is recommended for Granger causality test as it allows better data flexibility

Trigonometric weighted generalized convolution operator associated with Fourier cosine-sine and Kontorovich-Lebedev transformations

The main objective of this work is to introduce the generalized convolution with trigonometric weighted γ=siny\gamma=\sin y involving the Fourier cosine-sine and Kontorovich-Lebedev transforms, and to study its fundamental results. We establish boundedness properties in a two-parametric family of Lebesgue spaces for this convolution operator. Norm estimation in the weighted Lp L_p space is obtained and applications of the corresponding class of convolution integro-differential equations are discussed. The conditions for the solvability of these equations in L1L_1 space are also founded.Comment: 12 page

    Get PDF
Nowadays, the uses of laser and optics in the medical areas are extremely vivid, especially low-level laser therapy. The light with the wavelength of 633 nm to 1200 nm could penetrate and propagate deep in biological tissue. To develop the low-level laser therapy device, optimizing light delivery is critical to accurately stimulate the biological effects inside the biological tissue. Nevertheless, each form of the tissues at each zone on the body had various refractive optic, absorption, scattering, and anisotropy coefficients. This paper describes the simulation results of low-level laser propagation from skin surface at the lower spine, the knee, the femur and the prostate gland with four wavelengths (633 nm, 780 nm, 850 nm, and 940 nm) by the Monte Carlo method. These simulation results are the base for developing the low-level laser therapy device, that could be used in clinical for treating the fracture, knee osteoarthritis, spinal degeneration, and benign prostatic hypertrophy

Sustaining Vietnamese Economic Development by Improving the Transparency of Choice of Law Decisions

    Get PDF
Without a doubt, Vietnam has enjoyed outstanding economic performance since the adoption of doi moi in 1986. To a significant extent, Vietnam has accomplished this through the dramatic increase in international trade and investment. However, further economic progress will be undermined if international partners begin to question the fairness of the Vietnamese legal system – especially in the application of choice of law principles. At best, a perceived lack of transparency in choice of law decisions will increase uncertainty; at worst, it will foster the impression that Vietnamese Courts do not treat international parties fairly. Accordingly, this article recommends that all Vietnamese civil court cases involving non-Vietnamese parties should be published in a public, easily searchable database that discloses the traditional case identification information, the law applied, and the underlying rationale for the ultimate choice of law selection in the case

Value Balance and General Equilibrium Model

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a utility function with the incorporation of value and price, and develops a basic general equilibrium model with two conditions of market clearance and value balance. A joint value model is developed to conduct a value balance between firm profit and customer utility that is also a condition for market equilibrium. The simulation experiments are carried out to conduct the value balance between firm profit and customer utility, and the general equilibrium of the economy with economic policies. The study provides key evidence on the value balance between firm profit and customer utility that creates a new paradigm for further researches on partial equilibrium and general equilibrium. AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION OF VIETNAMESE DIALECTS

    Get PDF
The dialect identification was studied for many languages over the world nevertheless the research on signal processing for Vietnamese dialects is still limited and there were not many published works. There are many different dialects for Vietnamese. The influence of dialectal features on speech recognition systems is important. If the information about dialects is known during speech recognition process, the performance of recognition systems will be better because the corpus of these systems is normally organized according to different dialects. This paper will present the combination of MFCC coefficients and fundamental frequency features of Vietnamese for dialectal identification based on GMM. The experiment result for the dialect corpus of Vietnamese shows that the performance of dialectal identification is increased from 59% for the case using only MFCC coefficients to 71% for the case using MFCC coefficients and the information of fundamental frequency

As the demand of extraction and consumption of groundwater increases, its quality has been facing the issue of water contamination caused by industrial as well as domestic activities. Isotopic ratio analysis is a modern and effective technique widely used to trace the source of groundwater contamination. In this study, an analytical technique for carbon stable isotopic ratio of dissolved inorganic carbon in groundwater using elemental analyzer - isotopic ratio mass spectrometer was utilized under the condition in Vietnamese lab. As a result, correlation and calibration equations were established in which good reproducibility of the international standards was achieved with the value of first standard deviation less than 0.3 ‰ as well as the accuracy and precision of the measurements were obtained with errors less than 0.12 ‰. Based on these equations, 15 samples of groundwater collected from Cu Chi (Viet Nam) district were analyzed and calculated

YOUTH EDUCATION AND ORIENTATION TOWARD HO CHI MINH'S IDEOLOGY IN THE CONTEMPORARY CONTEXT

    Get PDF
During his time, Former President Ho Chi Minh had consistently emphasized the central role, position, and competence of the young generation in realizing the Party and the people's revolutionary path. He believed, “The youth are the future owners of the home country. Indeed, the vitality of the home country, whether it is prosperous or wilting, depends largely on the youth.” Before passing, his words had become the guiding principle for leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam, “Nurturing future revolutionary generations is of utmost importance and necessity.” Especially, given that the functioning of the current market economy has revealed its multiple drawbacks, it is salient to educate and orient the youth following Ho Chi Minh's ideology to produce a young generation that is moral in ethics and efficient in labour.  Article visualizations

Biomolecular evaluation of three contrasting rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L.) in salt stress response at seedling stage.

Salt contamination of soils due to climate change faces a severe environmental issue that affects crop production today. However, the response mechanism in plants to salt stress is not fully understood. The present study investigated molecular and biochemical changes under salt stress in rice seedlings of three rice cultivars, i.e., AGPPS114 (salt-tolerant), OM6967 (moderately tolerance), VD20 (salt-sensitive). Increasing salt concentration leads to a reduction in shoot/root length but different levels among the cultivars. In contrast, reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and lipid peroxidation increased progressively with increasing salt concentration and time course treatment. However, at 250 ?M of NaCl, these parameters were more adversely affected in VD20 than AGPPS114 and OM6967. Using ICP showed that Na+ accumulation in rice root increased gradually with increasing NaCl concentrations in all cultivars under salt treatment but was low in salt-sensitive cultivar VD20 compared to other cultivars. Antioxidant enzyme activity analysis indicated catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were induced during salt treatment in all cultivars. The results also showed greater proline and glycine betaine accumulation in the AGPPS114 than OM6976 and VD20. qPCR indicated a significant difference in transcript levels of the Na+-transporter gene OsSOS1, OsNHX1 and OsHKT1s in AGPPS114 and OM6967 cultivars compared to VD20 cultivar. In summary, the active regulation of genes related to Na+ transport at the transcription level and with high glycine betaine and proline accumulation levels may be involved in salt tolerance mechanisms and thus might be useful for selecting tolerant plants
