    Adjustment of interbank lending in pre-and post-regulation periods: Empirical analysis of Vietnamese commercial banks

    This article aims to analyze the interbank lending adjustment during the period when Vietnamese commercial banks are compliant with some parts of the Basel regulation framework. A pilot regulation period has started in 2011 and full application will be effective by the end of 2018. Partial adjustment models and variance decomposition are used for the analyses. In the analysis of the quarterly released financial statements of Vietnamese commercial banks in the period from 2008/Q1 to 2015/Q4, the empirical evidence showed that throughout the period, lending to non-bank and high liquidity assets contributed to the adjustment in both long run and short run with a negative association. In addition, the loan loss allowance contributed to the adjustment in the post-regulation period only with a positive association. These highly contributing factors also show a potential shock after the adjustment of the interbank lending. The results imply there is a need for interbank lending portfolio report and an efficient control over the IRB of Vietnamese commercial banks. © Foundation of International Studies, 2017 & CSR, 2017

    Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes)

    Water hyacinth has now spread to all tropical and subtropical countries and is regarded as one of the world's most invasive aquatic plants. Water hyacinth (WH) is also known to have significant ecological and socio-economic effects. A potential of WH as feed for ruminants was evaluated through four studies with respect to: a) biomass yield and nutritive value of WH grown in two different habitats (pond and river), harvested in three cuts at four cutting intervals; b) fermentation quality of WH with and without additives; c) feeding value to growing cattle of ensiled; or d) fresh WH at four different levels of inclusion in a rice straw based diet. Compositional changes as an effect of cut were generally small in the pond or negligible in the river habitat. Cutting interval had some minor effects on WH composition. The most obvious changes across habitats were an increase in neutral detergent fibre (NDFom) content from approximately 510 to 550 g/kg dry matter (DM) and a decrease in crude protein (CP) from approximately 210 to 170 g/kg DM when cutting interval was increased from 4 to 7 weeks. Water hyacinth has a potential as livestock feed. Results showed high CP contents (176 to 195 g/kg DM) and high DM yields for the two habitats of approximately 400 kg/ha/week. Application of sugars in the form of molasses or rice bran as a water absorbent resulted in a rapid decrease of pH to approximately 4.0. This level was maintained until at least day 14 and then gradually increased to approximately 4.8 at day 56. Ammonia nitrogen and fermentation end-product concentrations were within acceptable limits. The best fermentation quality was achieved in the silages with added molasses, absorbent or with a combination of the two and an inoculant. At the highest WH level, cattle consumed >50% ensiled WH which provided nearly three times as much metabolisable energy as when none was fed. These results were mainly due to an increasing digestibility with increasing level of ensiled WH. Cattle fed fresh WH showed abnormal rumen distension and a gradual increase of rice straw intakes over time. A long adaptation period to fresh WH is recommended and an inclusion level of not more than 30% of diet dry matter

The Meiji reform with its historical role and meaning has become an essential element in promoting the development of Japanese history in modern times. On the Asian level, the achievements of reform have much influence on regional countries. Many Asian countries have turned to the island nation and want to follow the development path of Japan. Over 150 years have passed, but the lessons learned from the Meiji reform are still valid, especially for Vietnam in the period of industrialization and modernization. The general article of Japan's Meiji reform (1868) is carried out in the fields of economy, politics, military, culture, and education.     Logarithmic Coefficients and Generalized Multifractality of Whole-Plane SLE

    We consider the whole-plane SLE conformal map f from the unit disk to the slit plane, and show that its mixed moments, involving a power p of the derivative modulus |f'| and a power q of the map |f| itself, have closed forms along some integrability curves in the (p,q) moment plane, which depend continuously on the SLE parameter kappa. The generalization of this integrability property to the m-fold transform of f is also given. We define a generalized integral means spectrum corresponding to the singular behavior of the mixed moments above. By inversion, it allows for a unified description of the unbounded interior and bounded exterior versions of whole-plane SLE, and of their m-fold generalizations. The average generalized spectrum of whole-plane SLE takes four possible forms, separated by five phase transition lines in the moment plane, whereas the average generalized spectrum of the m-fold whole-plane SLE is directly obtained from a linear map acting in that plane.     Sentiment Analysis of Customer Feedback in Online Food Ordering Services

    Background: E-commerce websites have been established expressly as useful online communication platforms, which is rather significant. Through them, users can easily perform online transactions such as shopping or ordering food and sharing their experiences or feedback. Objectives: Customers\u27 views and sentiments are also analyzed by businesses to assess consumer behavior or a point of view on certain products or services. Methods/Approach: This research proposes a method to extract customers\u27 opinions and analyse sentiment based on a collected dataset, including 236,867 online Vietnamese reviews published from 2011 to 2020 on foody.vn and diadiemanuong.com. Then, machine learning models were applied and assessed to choose the optimal model. Results: The proposed approach has an accuracy of up to 91.5 percent, according to experimental study findings. Conclusions: The research results can help enterprise managers and service providers get insight into customers\u27 satisfaction with their products or services and understand their feelings so that they can make adjustments and correct business decisions. It also helps food e-commerce managers ensure a better e-commerce service design and delivery

    ASSESSMENT OF THE HEALTH AND ECOLOGICAL RISKS CAUSED BY FUNGICIDES IN CHRYSANTHEMUM CULTIVATION BY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT QUOTIENT

    This study uses the Environmental Impact Quotient (EIQ) to assess the health and ecological risks caused by fungicides used in chrysanthemum cultivation upstream of Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat city. Survey results reveal that 134 farmers use 21 fungicides with 18 active ingredients on a total area of 35.2 hectares. In all, 18 fungicides with an EIQ at the level of “unlikely to be hazardous” (EIQ < 25) are used on about 95% of the acreage, and 3 fungicides with an EIQ of “slightly hazardous” (25 < EIQ < 50) are used on the rest of the area. The Field Use EIQ of fungicide was rated very low in only 8.2% of the survey area and moderate in 48%. Areas with high and very high ratings account for 3% and 41%, respectively. Using fungicides according to the instructions can reduce the Field Use EIQ values in cultivated areas by 38% and return areas with high and moderate ratings to a low rating. Therefore, it is necessary to instruct farmers on the safe use of fungicides and to recommend those with low EIQ values for chrysanthemum cultivation
