Classical Simulation of Quantum Fields II
We consider the classical time evolution of a real scalar field in 2
dimensional Minkowski space with a interaction. We compute the
spatial and temporal two-point correlation functions and extract the
renormalized mass of the interacting theory. We find our results are consistent
with the one- and two-loop quantum computation. We also perform Monte Carlo
simulations of the quantum theory and conclude that the classical scheme is
able to produce more accurate results with a fraction of the CPU time.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, now matches published versio

New glasses are used as protective coatings on metals and alloys susceptible to oxidation at high temperatures in oxidizing atmospheres. Glasses are stable and solid at temperatures up to 1000 deg C, adhere well to metal surfaces, and are usable for metals with broad range of expansion coefficients
Equation modifying program, L219 (EQMOD). Volume 1: Engineering and usage
The analysis and use of the Equation Modifying Program (EQMOD) L219, digital computer program which modifies matrices according to specific instructions was described. The program modifies the theoretical equation of motion and load equations generated by the DYLOFLEX programs Equation of Motion L217 (EOM), and Load Equations, L218 (LOADS), respectively
Generalised bottom-up holography and walking technicolour
In extradimensional holographic approaches the flavour symmetry is gauged in
the bulk, that is, treated as a local symmetry. Imposing such a local symmetry
admits fewer terms coupling the (axial) vectors and (pseudo)scalars than if a
global symmetry is imposed. The latter is the case in standard low-energy
effective Lagrangians. Here we incorporate these additional, a priori only
globally invariant terms into a holographic treatment by means of a
Stueckelberg completion and alternatively by means of a Legendre
transformation. This work was motivated by our investigations concerning
dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking by walking technicolour and we apply

Nonperiodic Flux to Voltage Conversion of an Arithmetic Series Array of dc SQUIDs
A theoretical study on the voltage response function of a series array of
dc SQUIDs is presented in which the elementary dc SQUID loops vary in size and,
possibly, in orientation. Such series arrays of two-junction SQUIDs possess
voltage response functions vs. external magnetic field B that differ
substantially from those of corresponding regular series arrays with identical
loop-areas, while maintaining a large voltage swing as well as a low noise
level. Applications include the design of current amplifiers and quantum

Comment on ``Reduction of static field equation of Faddeev model to first order PDE'', arXiv:0707.2207
The authors of the article Phys. Lett. B 652 (2007) 384, (arXiv:0707.2207),
propose an interesting method to solve the Faddeev model by reducing it to a
set of first order PDEs. They first construct a vectorial quantity , depending on the original field and its first derivatives, in terms of which
the field equations reduce to a linear first order equation. Then they find
vectors and which identically obey this linear
first order equation. The last step consists in the identification of the with the original as a function of the original field.
Unfortunately, the derivation of this last step in the paper cited above
contains an error which invalidates most of its results
Multi-locus phylogeny of Pleosporales: a taxonomic, ecological and evolutionary re-evaluation
Five loci, nucSSU, nucLSU rDNA, TEF1, RPB1 and RPB2, are used for analysing 129 pleosporalean taxa representing 59 genera and 15 families in the current classification of Pleosporales. The suborder Pleosporineae is emended to include four families, viz. Didymellaceae, Leptosphaeriaceae, Phaeosphaeriaceae and Pleosporaceae. In addition, two new families are introduced, i.e. Amniculicolaceae and Lentitheciaceae. Pleomassariaceae is treated as a synonym of Melanommataceae, and new circumscriptions of Lophiostomataceae s. str, Massarinaceae and Lophiotrema are proposed. Familial positions of Entodesmium and Setomelanomma in Phaeosphaeriaceae, Neophaeosphaeria in Leptosphaeriaceae, Leptosphaerulina, Macroventuria and Platychora in Didymellaceae, Pleomassaria in Melanommataceae and Bimuria, Didymocrea, Karstenula and Paraphaeosphaeria in Montagnulaceae are clarified. Both ecological and morphological characters show varying degrees of phylogenetic significance. Pleosporales is most likely derived from a saprobic ancestor with fissitunicate asci containing conspicuous ocular chambers and apical rings. Nutritional shifts in Pleosporales likely occured from saprotrophic to hemibiotrophic or biotrophic
