    Teachers’ Roles Towards Students’ Pronunciation Ability Based on Pronunciation’s Instructions and Exercises of The Twelfth Grade Students’ English Textbook

    Being able to speak fluently with correct pronunciation is the first impression to attract people’s attention. A good pronunciation may be denied by students since they are more focus on expanding their English skills. English textbook takes a beneficial purpose in assisting students to pronounce English words well. Since the instructions and practices would aid students to get involved with pronunciation’s communicative practice. Various ways, clear instructions, and practices would be applied easily by students with the hands of teachers as facilitators and correctors. This research is qualitative research that focuses on analyzing teachers’ roles towards students’ pronunciation ability based on pronunciation’s instructions and exercises of the twelfth-grade students’ English textbook. The author used the qualitative descriptive method to analyze and solve problems. English textbooks need to provide some more comprehensive and clearer instructions and practices to help improve students’ pronunciation, teachers are only the facilitator to help address the materials in English class, and students’ attitude and motivation are two prominent things that learners must have

    PRIMARY TEACHERS AND CULTURAL BASED ENGLISH TEXTBOOKS; VOICES, ISSUES, AND DEMANDS

    Teachers and textbooks are two significant success factors in achieving a better standard of education. However, teaching English can be rectified if the teachers only depend on the existing materials without noticing the needs of the students. This study attempted to seek for issues as well as solutions in overcoming teachers difficulties in a primary school of SD N 13 Koba, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province. Two teachers were involved in the study to be interviewed and as the sources of the data. The results of the interview reveal that indeed teachers at this primary school faced issues in teaching English such as their limited knowledge of English, insufficient English teaching times and unprepared more qualified teachers. As for the solution, providing them with lively cultural-based English textbook is one of the ways. As the rule makers, governments could provide more fees to the teachers and add research funds so that researchers are motivated to conduct better and larger scale of areas and participants.DOI: 10.24071/ijiet.2020.04011

    Kegiatan Bangka Tour Guide Training bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta pelatihan dalam memandu wisata menggunakan Bahasa Inggris yang baik dan benar, serta didukung oleh eye contact, gesture, body language dan tutur bicara yang benar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah, diskusi, dan praktik lapangan di lokasi wisata dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran students centered learning yaitu small group discussion dan guided project based learning. Berdasarkan hasil dari kegiatan yang dilaksanakan, peserta mampu memandu wisata menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia dengan sangat baik namun tidak begitu fasih ketika harus menggunakan Bahasa Inggris. Memandu wisata dengan menggunakan eye contact, gesture, dan body language yang tepat masih menjadi hal yang baru bagi para peserta pelatihan. Bagaimanapun, pelatihan ini telah memberikan ilmu baru bagi peserta untuk menjadi seorang tour guide yang professional baik secara teori maupun secara praktik lapangan

    Integrating Literary Works as the Local Content of ELT Materials for Undergraduate Students

    The objective of this study is to design English materials for undergraduate students. In designing the materials, the writers focused on the general English materials integrated with Bangkanese’ Folks as one of the literary works existing in Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia. This idea was based on the writers’ awareness to introduce local values to the students. Thus, the existing literary works were taken and modified by the writers to meet the purpose of the research.  The writers used the theory of Hutchinson and Waters (1987) and Borg & Gall (1989). The theory offered six steps, namely need analysis, writing syllabus, developing materials, trying-out materials, evaluating materials, revision, and writing the final draft. The participants of the research were 37 students studying in one of the private colleges in Bangka Belitung Province. These participants were chosen randomly. The designed ELT materials integrated the English lessons and the local folktales and culture. The integration was intended to improve the students’ communicative competence of both productive and receptive skills. Furthermore, it was expected that the designed materials were able to encourage the students to communicate more communicatively and appropriately in their social context

    Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian R&D dengan model ADDIE ini adalah untuk mendesain program pendidikan kewirausahaan terintegrasi pembelajaran tematik kelas tinggi di Sekolah Dasar dengan 2 tahapan Tahapan mendesain dan kegiatannya dimulai dengan melakukan analisis kebutuhan melalui wawancara, observasi lingkungan sekolah, analisis kurikulum, silabus kelas tinggi, profil sekolah, program kerja sekolah, analisis indikator nilai kewirausahaan, serta teori penyusunan program sekolah. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, tahap selanjutnya adalah mendesain program. Program pendidikan kewirausahaan ini menerapkan unsur manajemen strategis dalam upaya mencapai hasil akhir yang diharapkan. Komponen desain program terdiri atas profil sekolah, program kerja sekolah, kemitraan, proyek hasil belajar, indikator penilaian, dan kolaborasi mata pelajaran. Kegiatan penelitian ini berlokasi di SD Negeri 6, SD Negeri 15, SD Negeri 20, SD Negeri 30, dan SD Negeri 38 Pangkalpinang.Abstract: The purpose of this study is to design an integrated entrepreneurship education program for high-grade thematic learning in elementary schools. The stages of development and activities begin with conducting a needs analysis through interviews, observation of the school environment, curriculum analysis, high grade syllabus, school profiles, school work programs, analysis of indicators of entrepreneurship values, and theory of school programming. Based on the results of the analysis, the next step is to design the program. This entrepreneurship education program applies elements of strategic management in an effort to achieve the expected final results.     Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Berbasis Musik untuk Siswa Kelas IV pada Materi IPS Subtema Keberagaman Suku

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh proses pembelajaran yang menggunakan metode konvensional; yaitu guru hanya menggunakan gambar sebagai media pembelajaran yang menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami materi pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis musik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk pembelajaran media pembelajaran berbasis musik bagi siswa kelas IV yang valid dan praktis pada materi IPS subtema keberagaman suku. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari tahapan Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Sampel yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 25 Pangkalpinang. Subjek uji coba media pembelajaran berbasis musik skala kecil pada penelitian ini berjumlah 10 siswa, sedangkan pada uji coba skala besar berjumlah 20 siswa. Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari ahli materi, media, dan responden siswa. Hasil yang diperoleh dari validator materi pertama adalah 100% (sangat valid) dan validator materi kedua adalah 97,5% (sangat valid). Hasil validator media pertama 97,5% (sangat valid), dan validator media kedua 92,5% (sangat valid). Hasil uji coba produk media pembelajaran berbasis musik diperoleh 95% (sangat praktis). Hasil penelitian terhadap media pembelajaran berbasis musik menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran tersebut dikategorikan valid dan praktis untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran

    PENGUATAN MOTIVASI DAN MINAT TERHADAP PENDIDIKAN UNTUK ANAK PUTUS SEKOLAH DI KECAMATAN LUBUK BESAR

    Kecamatan Lubuk Besar merupakan salah satu kecamatan dengan tingkat angka putus sekolah tertinggi di Kabupaten Bangka Tengah. Hasil penelitian kerjasama Unmuh Babel dan Bappelitbangda Kabupaten Bangka Tengah Tahun 2022 terdata 404 anak putus sekolah di usia produktif sekolah dengan faktor yang melatarbelakangi adalah minat anak untuk bersekolah sebesar 54,82%. Berkaitan dengan hasil penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan, kegiatan pengabdian sebagai tindak lanjut kegiatan ini melakukan berbagai kegiatan antara lain sosialisasi penguatan motivasi dan minat melalui kegiatan Talk Show Inspiratif Penguatan Motivasi dan Minat terhadap Pendidikan dengan Tema “Pentingnya Pendidikan untuk Masa depan yang Lebih Baik”. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pegabdian ini adalah metode penyuluhan dengan presentasi, diskusi, dan tanya jawab dimana narasumber melakukan pendekatan persuasive dengan memberikan pemahaman tentang pentingnya pendidikan untuk masa depan. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berjalan sangat baik dan kondusif. Seluruh peserta yang hadir pada Talk Show Inspiratif mengikuti seluruh rangkaian kegiatan dengan tertib dan aktif dari mulai awal pembukaan, penyampaian materi oleh narasumber, sesi diskusi hingga acara penutupan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini didapatkan 58 anak putus sekolah umur produktif yaitu 7 – 20 tahun di yang hadir dari 5 kali kegiatan talk show inspriratif, termotivasi untuk mengikuti pelatihan dan PKBM Terpadu Lubuk Besar sebagai warga belajar sebesar 75%

    Abstrak: Pelatihan teacherprenuer berbasis digital profile builder bertujuan untuk memberikan pengalaman dan mengembangkan kompetensi diri guru dan tenaga kependidikan melalui kegiatan yang telah disajikan serta direlevansikan dengan nilai potensi diri, kearifan lokal, serta pengoptimalan teknologi sebagai media penyimpanan data diri secara digital. Kegiatan pelatihan memfasilitasi peserta untuk mengubah mindset tantangan global menjadi peluang melalui optimalisasi ICT, mengembangkan kemampuan pendukung agar dapat diimplementasikan dalam ekosistem pendidikan serta masyarakat luas. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini berupa pelatihan yang mengimplementasikan mixed method khususnya diskusi, praktik, penugasan, presentasi, dan evaluasi. Jumlah peserta yang registrasi sebanyak 131 peserta terdiri dari guru dan tenaga kependidikan SD dan SMP di kota Pangkalpinang. Tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdiri atas: tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, analisis, dan evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan diketahui bahwa kegiatan pelatihan berhasil memberikan pengetahuan, pengalaman dan mengembangkan potensi dirinya. Hal ini terbukti bahwa 76 peserta berada pada kategori baik dan mampu menyelesaikan kegiatan hingga selesai. Abstract: Teacherpreneur training based on digital profile builder aimed to provide experience and develop self-competence teacher and education personnel through activities. The activities has a correlation with the personal potential, local culture and optimizing technology as a medium for storing personal data digitally. The participants to change the mindset of global challenges into opportunities through optimizing ICT, developing supporting capabilities that could be implemented in education ecosystem and society. The activities method implements mixed methods, especially discussion, practice, assignment, presentation, and evaluation. The number of participants who registered was 131 teachers and education personnel from elementary to junior high school in the city of Pangkalpinang. The stages of implementing this activity consist of preparation, implementation, analyze, and evaluation stages. Based on the results of the activities, it is known that the training activities succeeded in providing knowledge, experience and developing their potential. It was proven that 76 participants were in a good category and were able to complete the activity to completion

    Developing Traditional Game Based English Learning Media To Grow Learning Interest Of Junior High School Students

    The background of conducting this reseach began with the intention to develope an approprite English learning media for Junior High School students in the rural area by utilizing the traditional games. The seventh grade students of SMP N 1 Mendobarat, Bangka Regency academic year of 2018/2019 were involved as the population with 30 students as the samples taken by using purposive random sampling. In this Research and Development Research (R&D), the data were obtained from the distributed pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The procedures applied in this research were the one adopted from Lee and Owen (2004) with the following steps; analyzing students' need by distributing the need analysis questionnaire, designing English learning media according to the data of need analysis, developing the first draft of the learning media, asking experts' judgement, and validating it. Two kinds of test which were Alpha testing that involved material and content experts, and Beta testing that involved students were applied in the validation phase. Based on the finding of the research, it was found that the traditional games based English learning media was feasible to use by the seventh grade students of SMP N 1 Mendobarat, Bangka Regency. Therefore, this research leads to the recommendation to the students and teachers to consider traditional games as a feasible media to learn English
