Use of LANDSAT imagery for soil survey
The author has identified the following significant results. The MSS channels 6 and 7 were considered the best to study the relative tonality of different spectral responses of soils, while channels 5 and 7 were best for natural vegetation, drainage patterns, and land use. Frequency ratio was the recommended index for use when analyzing a drainage pattern quantitatively
The structure of the space of affine Kaehler curvature tensors as a complex module
We use results of Matzeu and Nikcevic to decompose the space of affine
Kaehler curvature tensors as a direct sum of irreducible modules in the complex

Geometric realizations of generalized algebraic curvature operators
We study the 8 natural GL equivariant geometric realization questions for the
space of generalized algebraic curvature tensors. All but one of them is
solvable; a non-zero projectively flat Ricci antisymmetric generalized
algebraic curvature is not geometrically realizable by a projectively flat
Ricci antisymmetric torsion free connection
NMR studies of the helical antiferromagnetic compound EuCo2P2
In EuCo2P2, 4f electron spins of Eu2+ ions order antiferromagnetically below a Néel temperature . The magnetic structure below was reported to be helical with the helix axis along the c-axis from the neutron diffraction study. We report the results of 153Eu, 59Co and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements on EuCo2P2 using a single crystal and a powdered sample. In the antiferromagnetic (AFM) state, we succeeded in observing 153Eu, 59Co and 31P NMR spectra in zero magnetic field. The sharp 153Eu zero field NMR (ZF NMR) lines indicate homogeneous Eu ordered moment. The 59Co and 31P ZF NMR spectra showed an asymmetric spectral shape, indicating a distribution of the internal magnetic induction at each nuclear position. The AFM propagation vector k characterizing the helical AFM state can be determined from the internal magnetic induction at Co site. We have determined the model-independent value of the AFM propagation vector k distributed from (0, 0, 0.86)2π/c to (0, 0, 0.73)2π/c, where c is the lattice parameter

Selection signatures in Canchim beef cattle.
Background: Recent technological advances in genomics have allowed the genotyping of cattle through single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) panels. High-density SNP panels possess greater genome coverage and are useful for the identification of conserved regions of the genome due to selection, known as selection signatures (SS). The SS are detectable by different methods, such as the extended haplotype homozygosity (EHH); and the integrated haplotype score (iHS), which is derived from the EHH. The aim of this study was to identify SS regions in Canchim cattle (composite breed), genotyped with high-density SNP panel. Results: A total of 687,655 SNP markers and 396 samples remained for SS analysis after the genotype quality control. The iHS statistic for each marker was transformed into piHS for better interpretation of the results. Chromosomes BTA5 and BTA14 showed piHS>5, with 39 and nine statistically significant SNPs (P<0.00001), respectively. For the candidate selection regions, iHS values were computed across the genome and averaged within non-overlapping windows of 500 Kb. We have identified genes that play an important role in metabolism, melanin biosynthesis (pigmentation), and embryonic and bone development. Conclusions: The observation of SS indicates that the selection processes performed in Canchim, as well as in the founder breeds (i.e. Charolais), are maintaining specific genomic regions, particularly on BTA5 and BTA14. These selection signatures regions could be associated with Canchim characterization.Na publicação: Luciana Correia de Almeida Regitano
