Co-integration of Silicon Nanodevices and NEMS for Advanced Information Processing (Invited Talk)

    No full text
In this paper we present our recent attempts at developing the advanced information processing devices by integrating nano-electro-mechanical (NEM)structures into conventional silicon nanodevices. Firstly, we show high-speed and nonvolatile NEM memory which features a mechanically-bistable floating gate is integrated onto MOSFETs. Secondly we discuss hybrid systems of single-electron transistors and NEM structures for exploring new switching principles

In 1991, the Ministry of Education enacted Standards for the Establishment of Universities in the form of a Ministry order. In accordance with Stndards, it should be that monitoring and evaluation should be primarily self-monitoring and self-evaluation by university itself. We have devoted sufficient attention to developing an approach towards the teaching of students for five years. We make a report on a betterment of lecturing by students\u27 evaluation, analyzing students\u27 evaluating for classroom lessons during the second semester in 1996. Therefore, we arrived at the conclusion that there is correlation between our teaching methods and students\u27 attidudes towards classroom lessons, but there is no correlation between contents of teaching and students\u27 attidudes. Diverse patterns of each department give us suggestions as to the stage of students\u27 understanding educational principles. It will be necessary for us to carry out a well-organized and systematic education aimed at the elevation of students\u27 motivation for learning and at enabling students to assimilate what has been taught

A Case of Autoimmune Hepatitis Associated with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura and Chronic Thyroiditis

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is frequently associated with extrahepatic autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren\u27s syndrome, and chronic thyroiditis, but the association with idiopathic (immune) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is rare. We report a 46-year-old Japanese woman who presented with severe thrombocytopenia, elevated levels of aminotransferases, immunoglobulin (Ig) G, and platelet-associated IgG (PAIgG), positive anti-nuclear antibody, and hypothyroidism. After a diagnosis of coexisting AIH, ITP, and chronic thyroiditis, the patient was treated with 30 mg/day of prednisolone orally. The patient responded to such treatment: showing an increase in the number of platelets and decrease of serum levels of aminotransferases, IgG, and PAIgG to within normal ranges. Discrimination of ITP from liver cirrhosis as a cause of severe thrombocytopenia seen in chronic liver disease is important because complications and therapy are quite different. Prednisolone as a treatment for All should be also effective for ITP, and therefore, ITP should be considered when liver dysfunction is accompanied by severe thrombocytopenia, particularly in the autoimmune types of liver diseases

This paper is the first report of the comparative study on subject-type and non-subject-type ski practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the evaluation of students, who participated in a ski intensive course as a practice in the curriculum of the department of Physical education (subject-type ski practice). This evaluation was compared with that of participants in a ski intensive course as a service program of the student\u27s association (non-subject-type ski practice). The results were summarized as follows: 1. In the ski experience and the preliminary learning quantity, there was no difference in both groups before participating in each practice. 2. The improvement of the ski skill was the major motive and expectations of the participants in subject-type ski practice. On the other hand, it was the human alternating current through the sport in non-subject-type ski practice. 3. It was found in both practices that the will, which continues a ski, is proportional to the comprehensive satisfaction of participating in a practice. Some improvements were pointed out to both practices

    Suspended Gate Silicon Nanodots memory

    No full text
This paper proposes a new non-volatile semiconductor memory which features a suspended gate integrated with silicon nanocrystals dots as a floating gate and the MOSFET as a readout. Performing three-dimensional finite element simulations combined with an analytical plate-capacitor model, we clarify the pull-in/pull-out operation of the suspended gate. We also show the dependence of the hysteresis cycle characteristics on material and structural parameters
