Heterogeneous Techniques used in Face Recognition: A Survey

    Get PDF
Face Recognition has become one of the important areas of research in computer vision. Human Communication is a combination of both verbal and non-verbal. For interaction in the society, face serve as the primary canvas used to express distinct emotions non-verbally. The face of one person provides the most important natural means of communication. In this paper, we will discuss the various works done in the area of face recognition where focus is on intelligent approaches like PCA, LDA, DFLD, SVD, GA etc. In the current trend, combination of these existing techniques are being taken into consideration and are discussed in this paper. Keywords: Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Direct Fractional LDA (DFLD

AbstractThis paper develops a new Face Recognition System which combines R-KDA for selecting optimal discriminant features with non-linear SVM for Recognition. Experiment results have been conducted showing the comparison of enhanced efficiency of our proposed system over R-KDA with k-nn as the similarity distance measure

Synchronous phyllodes tumor and invasive breast carcinoma in contralateral breasts- a rare case report

    Get PDF
Phyllodes tumours are rare breast tumours, accounting for 0.3-1% of all breast cancers and 2.5% of fibroepithelial tumours. They occur in younger age women in Asian countries. These can be classified into benign, borderline and malignant based on stromal hypercellularity, mitotic figures, cellular pleomorphism, stromal overgrowth and nature of the tumour borders. Synchronous coexistence of phyllodes tumour and invasive breast carcinoma in the contralateral breast is very rare, and probably the second one reported in the literature. Hereby, we report a case of a middle-aged woman presenting with a lump in the bilateral breast, diagnosed to have benign phyllodes of one breast and Invasive carcinoma of the contralateral breast

Furthermore, the review addresses the potential benefits and risks of combining herbal remedies with conventional treatments and emphasizes the need for informed decision-making and open communication between patients and healthcare providers. Overall, this review highlights the increasing recognition of herbal and alternative medicine as valuable components of comprehensive healthcare and underscores the need for further research and integration in modern medical practices

Effect of high pressure pretreatment on the drying characteristics of the beetroot (Beta vulgaris) cubes

Effect of high pressure (100–300 MPa for 5–15 min) pretreatments on the drying characteristics and microstructure of beetroot (Beta vulgaris) were studied. The drying experiments were performed using the dehumidified air dryer at varying temperatures (50–70 °C) and air velocities (1–2 m/s). The drying data was modelled based on seven selected mathematical models to assess the effect of the pretreatment on the drying rate. It was observed that HPP pretreatment enhanced the drying rate and hence resulted in about 20% decrease in the drying time for 300 MPa treated sample to 4% for the 100 MPa treated sample. The Modified Page and Two-term exponential models effectively explain the drying data for the beetroot cubes. Colour change was minimal for HPP pretreated samples than the thermally processed samples. Further, rehydration studies showed a decreasing trend of rehydration ability from 0.251 to 0.169 from 100 MPa to 300 MPa treatments. SEM images of the microstructure revealed a greater pore opening of the pressure treated samples as compared to the control sample resulting in a lesser drying time. From the optimization of the drying data based on maximum drying rate constant, minimum drying time and maximum rehydration ability, 200 MPa pressure treated sample for a dwell time of 5 min followed by drying at 70 °C temperature, and air velocity 2 m/s was the best condition to yield best quality dried beetroot product having better rehydration ability

Not AvailableBlood fruit is a promising anti-oxidant rich underutilized fruit species with potential as a natural colourant for food, beverage and handicraft industries. The species has been used for fresh consumption, treating ailments and as a dyeing agent by local people including regional tribes in tropical Asian countries. However, at present, fruits are harvested from the wild and there is considerable scope for promoting their cultivation in homestead gardens. Owing to limited population of the species, seed germination studies were conducted. Treatment of seeds with thiourea (0.1%) or GA3 (1000 mg/l) for 24 h was most congenial for obtaining healthy seedlings in large numbers. To extract chlorophylls and total carotenoids, dimethylsulphoxide was found to be a superior solvent over acetone (80%). Differences in fruit sizes were noticed in fruits grown in two states of India. These findings form the basis for conservation as well as domestication of this multipurpose fruit species in the tropical Asian countries.DBT-BioCARe (19575

A Comprehensive Report on Environmental Sustainability: A Global Perspective

    No full text
In the last three decades, protecting the earth's environment has become a major challenge in international relations. Hundreds of regional and bilateral agreements, as well as at least ten global environmental agreements, were negotiated. Environmentalism can be seen as a social movement that seeks to influence jobs and education to conserve natural resources and ecosystems. Concerns for environmental protection have emerged in various forms in various parts of the world throughout history. The environmental movement is a diverse scientific, social and political movement. The movement is committed to ecology, health and human rights while accepting people as workers in the ecosystem. Today, it is generally accepted that environmental protection is a part of national policies and plans. The accepted standard to achieve this reduction target is "sustainable development". In fact, all existing laws and policies on environmental protection and human development, at the national or international level, aim at achieving "sustainable development". Despite the great environmental protection that humans have used in the past three decades, global warming has not reduced the occurrence of anomalous atmospheric phenomena due to scientific knowledge and available technology. Although many environmental policies and action plans have been negotiated over the past three decades, significant gaps remain in international environmental policy law. The framework has not yet become a method or method. Rather, each is a collection of commitments related to a democratic international or regional environmental issue. Nature has become negative by affecting the climate on the one hand and the health and safety of all living and non-living beings on the other. The ecosystem resonates with abnormal noise, vibration, dust and smoke from human activities. These events remind people that the environment must be protected with all enthusiasm and energy no matter what. Given the progress we have made in destroying the earth's environment, future global environmental efforts will focus more on environmental restoration than conservation. Human rights will also provide important opportunities for better protection of the environment

An Overview-Effects of Covid 19 Pandemic on Climate Change in India

From a public health perspective, the spread of the COVID-19 virus has become a problem. The incredible rise in disease-related infection and death rates has brought the world to a standstill in dealing with its negative consequences. This has led to a global lockdown to prevent further spread of the virus. The blockade had a huge social and economic impact. However, it also has some positive effects on the environment, especially air quality, as many research institutes point to reduced nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide problems in major cities (PM) around the world. Ni#trogen dioxide emissions were reduced by 20-30% in China, Italy, France and Spain, while nitrogen dioxide emissions were reduced by 30% in the United States. Compared to last year, China's air quality improved by 11.4%. NO (-77.3%), NO2 (-54.3). Compared to five years per month, 3% and carbon monoxide (-64.8%) (Signs point to a decrease) content were found during Partial shutdown in Brazil. There are about -51.84, -53.11, -17 in India 97%, -52.68, -30.35, 0.78, and -12.33 reductions in PM10, PM2 concentrations. They are SO2, NO2, CO, O3 and NH3. This article focuses on the environmental impact of closures and also discusses air pollution before and after closures in major cities around the world. Various aspects of the environment were studied and evaluated, including air, water, noise and waste management before and after closure. Therefore, this research will serve as a guide for environmentalists, leaders, and frontline activists as they look for ways to beat this disease and reduce its long-term impact on health and the environment.
