In the field of library and information science, content analysis is a crucial task for an effective retrieval of information by users at an archive. In this research, we analyse the current state of this task and the possibilities of retrieval of film information at six Spanish important film archives, interviewing their responsible librarians for film cataloguing and comparing the content fields inside their film cataloguing records used by each one of these six organizations

La decadencia de la ganadería trashumante en la Sierra de Cameros (1780-1821)

Editada en la Universidad Carlos IIIEl trabajo tiene como objetivo fundamental analizar las causas de la crisis y decadencia de la cabaña ovina trashumante de ganaderos de la Sierra de Cameros, ejemplificado en el caso de don Mariano Antonio Manso de Velasco, que vendió sus rebaños, como parte de los demás, hacia 1821. El motivo principal fue la subida de los costes de la propia cabaña, y muy especialmente la del precio de los pastos en Extremadura, antes de que otros factores como las dificultades en el comercio exterior les pudieran influir. Los factores institucionales, derivados de la toma del poder por los liberales en 1821, también desempeñaron un importante papel.The essay has as a main aim to analize the decay of Sierra de Cameros transhumant cattle raising, exemplified on the case of Don Mariano Antonio Manso de Velasco. The costs of the livestock itself and the price of pasttire in Extremadura were the main reasons for the crisis rather than other factors such as foreign trade could influence. El Tesauro de Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz: un reto institucional y metodológico

El Tesauro de Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz puede considerarse como la consolidación de uno de los proyectos más ambiciosos puesto en marcha por el sistema de información del Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico de la Junta de Andalucía. Tal es así que, a pesar del ingente esfuerzo que ello supone, pretende ser un instrumento capaz de controlar, integrar y estructurar en un único tesauro el extenso vocabulario proveniente de las distintas bases de datos que conforman el Sistema de Información del Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz, y además, y lo que es más importante, ser vir de sopor te de indización y recuperación documental no sólo para la institución que lo ha creado sino también hacerlo extensible a todas aquellas instituciones, autonómicas y nacionales, relacionadas de un modo directo con la gestión del patrimonio histórico-artístico. Esta primera versión del Tesauro de Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz ("Versión 0", como se ha dado en llamar), se presenta formalmente como un tesauro de aspecto convencional, aunque –de manera tímida todavía– aporta, cruciales innovaciones para avanzar en la investigación de los lenguajes documentales de raíz epistemográfica, superando, en la medida de lo posible, las deficiencias que presentan las actuales normas de construcción de tesauros. Así, el empleo de adjetivos, infraconceptos, niveladores, género y número como elementos de significación permiten economizar la base léxica, y, sobre todo, acercar el vocabulario controlado construido por documentalistas y exper tos a los esquemas naturales en que formulan los usuarios sus demandas de información

Time-sequence analysis of a film document

Partiendo de las aportaciones de las disciplinas Documentación Cinematográfica y Análisis Fílmico, se propone, en el presente artículo, un método documental de análisis cronológico-secuencial del documento fílmico. Dicho método se materializa en una ficha o plantilla fílmográfica automatizable, en la que figuran los campos relativos tanto a los principales componentes narrativos visuales del filme (técnicos y semánticos: secuencias, planos, tiempo, espacio fílmico, personajes, ambientes, acciones, etc.) como a sus componentes narrativos sonoros fundamentales (voz, música, ruido, sonido ambiente). Se pretende con dicha metodología establecer un sistema homogéneo de análisis de contenido fílmico, aplicable a un amplio corpus de documentos cinematográficos. Pensamos que el conocimiento del método propuesto y la familiaridad del documentalista con sus técnicas de aplicación hará posible el análisis documental del documento cinematográfico, sin requerirse para ello un dilatado tiempo de trabajo ni tampoco un excesivo esfuerzo intelectual.Following the contributions of the Cinematographic Research and Film Analysis disciplines, the present article suggests a time-sequence analysis method for film documents. The latter results from an automating film template that includes a set of related fields; main visual narrative film components (technical and semantic: sequences, photography, time, space, characters, environments, actions, etc.) and audio narrative components (voice, music, sound, background noise). Motivation for seeking headship in compulsory education centres: A qualitative approach

Es un hecho constatado que el liderazgo de los directores de los centros educativos es una de las claves del cambio. Su impacto, bien sea de carácter directo o indirecto, ha sido evidenciado en la mejora de los resultados académicos del alumnado, la contribución al desarrollo profesional del equipo docente y la creación y cultivo de comunidades de aprendizaje. Este estudio pretende reconocer cuáles son los motivos que conducen a los directores a acceder al cargo, así como el carácter de su decisión. Para ello, se ha seleccionado de forma intencionada, y con la ayuda de tres inspectores de la Conselleria de Educación, Ciencia y Deporte, a 100 directores de centros de Educación Infantil y Primaria, y Educación Secundaria de la provincia de Alicante. Para la recogida de datos se diseñó una entrevista con preguntas de carácter abierto. Los datos fueron procesados con el programa de análisis cualitativo AQUAD 7. A partir del mismo, se reconoce que la decisión de acceder al cargo es principalmente de carácter individual y que está condicionada fundamentalmente por motivaciones personales. Sin embargo, tales intenciones responden más a una visión institucional y social, que individualista. En relación al perfil de los directores, se aprecia un cariz más social de la decisión de acceso al cargo en las mujeres y los veteranos docentes. Estos datos nos llevan a la conclusión de que conviene prestar atención a las razones que conducen a los directores a acceder al cargo para, desde su reconocimiento, alentar una decisión que cada día menos docentes están dispuestos a tomar.It is a proven fact that the leadership of headteachers is one of the keys to change. Its impact, whether direct or indirect, has been shown to improve the academic performance of students, to contribute to the professional development of the teaching staff and to develop and cultivate learning communities. This study aims to recognise what motivates headteachers to seek office, and the nature of their decision. In order to study this, 100 headteachers of Infant, Primary and Secondary schools in the province of Alicante were intentionally selected with the help of three inspectors from the Regional Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. An open-question interview was designed for the purpose of data collection. Data were processed using AQUAD 7 qualitative analysis programme. It was recognised that the decision to access the position of headteacher was primarily individual in nature and largely influenced by personal motives. But such intentions were found to be the reflection of an institutional and social perspective, rather than of an individualist one. As far as the headteachers’ profile is concerned, it was identified that the decision by female and veteran teachers to seek office had a more social tenor. The data led to the conclusion that the reasons that drive headteachers to take up the position need to be attended to and recognised in order to encourage a decision that fewer and fewer teachers are willing to make

Public Policies of Welfare State and Child Poverty in the European Union

Combating child poverty is desirable to ensure equality of opportunities across children, as well as fostering the sustainability of the societal well-being for future generations. This paper focuses on the study of child poverty in the 28 Member States of the European Union over the period 2008–2018. We analyse the relationship between child poverty and government social expenditure by controlling it with tax structure (ratio direct taxes over indirect taxes), economic growth and socio-demographic characteristics. For that, we rely on panel data methodology. This paper has verified that the effectiveness of the government social spending programmes to reduce child poverty also depends on the progressiveness of the country’s tax structure. Government spending on health and education programmes could be more effective in reducing child poverty in Member States with less progressive tax structure, provided they reached the average level of public spending for the whole of the European Union. By contrast, a positive relationship between child poverty and government social protection spending regardless of the tax structure of countries was found. In this case, the underlying forces that lead to less effectiveness of social protection programmes are also stronger in the less progressive Member States.Junta de Andalucia SEJ-39

Exploring how tutors in higher education perceive their work and what direction they think it should take in the future: A case study

University tutoring is a complex area of study involving various factors and agents whose actions are context-dependent. This qualitative study aims to analyse and interpret the experiences of tutors in the course of their work. The participants were 68 tutors, each from one of the seven centres belonging to the University of Alicante (Spain). We carried out conventional and summative content analyses using AQUAD 7 software. The results show that tutors’ feelings are generally positive, though they become disillusioned if students decide to drop tutoring. Nevertheless, the few students that persevere are enough to encourage tutors to reflect on possible improvements to the tutoring programme.
