Dramatischer Subjektivismus und Theatralisierung der Selbstthematisierung

Die Autoren reflektieren bestimmte qualitative Differenzierungen und Verschiebungen, welche sich dann zeigen, wenn Schlüsselkontexte der Selbstthematisierung miteinander verglichen werden, z.B. die religiöse Beichte, die Psychotherapien von der klassischen Psychoanalyse bis zu den neueren Gruppentherapien sowie die Massenmedien und das Internet. Diese sozialen und kulturellen Gebilde folgen einer Entwicklungslogik von Institutionen in postmodernen Gesellschaften, die sich mit dem Begriff der Theatralisierung umschreiben lässt. Mit dieser Entwicklungslogik korrespondiert ein Subjektivismus, der sich - so die These der Autoren - in Abhängigkeit von der Evolution medialer Kommunikationsformen als ein "dramatischer Subjektivismus" äußert. Die Autoren verdeutlichen dies am Beispiel des Internet bzw. des Internet-Chats als neuestem Kontext der Selbstthematisierung und Selbsttheatralisierung. Als Ausgangspunkt ihrer theoretischen Überlegungen wählen sie den modernen "Urkontext" der Selbstthematisierung: die Psychoanalyse. Sie möchten vor allem zeigen, dass die Selbstthematisierung und Selbstauslegung im kontextarmen Medium synchroner Textkommunikation medienspezifischen Strukturbedingungen unterworfen sind, denen gattungsspezifische Probleme und Problemlösungen in der Postmoderne entsprechen, die aber gleichzeitig auch Spielräume entstehen lassen, welche inszenatorisch genutzt werden können. Zur Beschreibung einer massenmedialen (Re-)Konstruktion von Alltagswissen

"Der Beitrag skizziert einige Aspekte einer Wissenssoziologie der Massenmedien und darüber hinaus der Wirklichkeitskonstruktion jedermanns, die die Massenmedien durch diverse Inszenierungen sowohl indizieren als auch induzieren. Zum einen wird ein konzeptuelles Instrumentarium dargestellt, das den entsprechenden Zeichen- und Sinnkomplexitäten gerecht werden soll. Es geht insbesondere um soziologische Zugänge zu strukturellen und funktionalen Aspekten von visueller und sprachlicher Medienkultur bzw. Medientexten im Rahmen der Entfaltung mehr oder weniger komplementärer Begrifflichkeiten mit zunächst prinzipieller Ausrichtung. Zum anderen wird in Bezug auf ein empirisches Forschungsprojekt der Frage nachgegangen, inwiefern die Werbung als eine Art Bühne verstanden werden kann, auf der in den Formen von Anzeigen und Spots kulturelle Sinnmuster 'aufgeführt' werden. Gradient and Passive Circuit Structure in a Class of Non-linear Dynamics on a Graph

We consider a class of non-linear dynamics on a graph that contains and generalizes various models from network systems and control and study convergence to uniform agreement states using gradient methods. In particular, under the assumption of detailed balance, we provide a method to formulate the governing ODE system in gradient descent form of sum-separable energy functions, which thus represent a class of Lyapunov functions; this class coincides with Csisz\'{a}r's information divergences. Our approach bases on a transformation of the original problem to a mass-preserving transport problem and it reflects a little-noticed general structure result for passive network synthesis obtained by B.D.O. Anderson and P.J. Moylan in 1975. The proposed gradient formulation extends known gradient results in dynamical systems obtained recently by M. Erbar and J. Maas in the context of porous medium equations. Furthermore, we exhibit a novel relationship between inhomogeneous Markov chains and passive non-linear circuits through gradient systems, and show that passivity of resistor elements is equivalent to strict convexity of sum-separable stored energy. Internet Use and Perceived Parental Involvement among Adolescents from Lower Socioeconomic Groups in Europe: An Exploration

Internet usage is a salient developmental factor in adolescents’ lives. Although relevant correlates of Internet use have been documented earlier, there is a lack of information on lower socioeconomic status groups. This is important, as these adolescents have increased risk of negative online experiences. The current survey aimed to explore Internet use and parental involvement amongst adolescents from areas of socio-economic disadvantage in 30 urban schools across five European countries. A total of 2594 students participated, of whom 90% were 14–16 years. Virtually all adolescents of socioeconomic disadvantage had Internet access, with 88.5% reporting spending more than two hours per day online, often on apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube. Almost one-third of adolescents did not talk with their parents about their Internet use and almost two-thirds indicated that their parents were only a little or not interested in their Internet use. A consistent finding across countries was that girls more often talked with their parents about their Internet use and more often reported that their parents were interested in their Internet use than boys. The results suggest that parents have an important task in explicitly showing interest in their adolescents’ Internet use, with special attention needed for boys

SSTR2 in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma:Relationship with Latent EBV Infection and Potential as a Therapeutic Target

SIMPLE SUMMARY: Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) is a malignant epithelial tumor endemic to parts of Asia and associated with infection by the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) in these regions. The cancer is often detected at a late stage which is associated with poor outcomes (63% 5-year survival). Advances for the management of this disease have remained largely stagnant and treatment relies primarily on radiotherapy and chemotherapy, as well as surgery when indicated. Nevertheless, our understanding of its underlying biology has grown rapidly in the past two decades, laying the foundation for the development of improved therapeutics which have the potential to improve outcomes. This review offers a comprehensive, up-to-date summary of this disease, with a focus on the role of somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) in NPC and how this increased knowledge may lead to improved diagnosis and management of this disease. ABSTRACT: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant epithelial tumor, most commonly located in the pharyngeal recess and endemic to parts of Asia. It is often detected at a late stage which is associated with poor prognosis (5-year survival rate of 63%). Treatment for this malignancy relies predominantly on radiotherapy and/or systemic chemotherapy, which can be associated with significant morbidity and impaired quality of life. In endemic regions NPC is associated with infection by Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) which was shown to upregulate the somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) cell surface receptor. With recent advances in molecular techniques allowing for an improved understanding of the molecular aetiology of this disease and its relation to SSTR2 expression, we provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of this disease and highlight the emergence of SSTR2 as a key tumor biomarker and promising target for imaging and therapy
