    Wound Healing Activity of Topical Application Forms Based on Ayurveda

    The traditional Indian medicine—Ayurveda, describes various herbs, fats, oils and minerals with anti-aging as well as wound healing properties. With aging, numerous changes occur in skin, including decrease in tissue cell regeneration, decrease in collagen content, loss of skin elasticity and mechanical strength. We prepared five topical anti-aging formulations using cow ghee, flax seed oil, Phyllanthus emblica fruits, Shorea robusta resin, Yashada bhasma as study materials. For preliminary efficacy evaluation of the anti-aging activity we chose excision and incision wound healing animal models and studied the parameters including wound contraction, collagen content and skin breaking strength which in turn is indicative of the tissue cell regeneration capacity, collagenation capacity and mechanical strength of skin. The group treated with the formulations containing Yashada bhasma along with Shorea robusta resin and flax seed oil showed significantly better wound contraction (P < .01), higher collagen content (P < .05) and better skin breaking strength (P < .01) as compared to control group; thus proposing them to be effective prospective anti-aging formulations

    Novel Proposed Work for Empirical Word Searching in Cloud Environment

    People's lives have become much more convenient as a result of the development of cloud storage. The third-party server has received a lot of data from many people and businesses for storage. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the user's data is protected from prying eyes. In the cloud environment, searchable encryption technology is used to protect user information when retrieving data. The versatility of the scheme is, however, constrained by the fact that the majority of them only offer single-keyword searches and do not permit file changes.A novel empirical multi-keyword search in the cloud environment technique is offered as a solution to these issues. Additionally, it prevents the involvement of a third party in the transaction between data holder and user and guarantees integrity. Our system achieves authenticity at the data storage stage by numbering the files, verifying that the user receives a complete ciphertext. Our technique outperforms previous analogous schemes in terms of security and performance and is resistant to inside keyword guessing attacks.The server cannot detect if the same set of keywords is being looked for by several queries because our system generates randomized search queries. Both the number of keywords in a search query and the number of keywords in an encrypted document can be hidden. Our searchable encryption method is effective and protected from the adaptive chosen keywords threat at the same time

    Efficacy of Herbal Medicines in Management of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Scoping Review

    Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is most frequently stated gynaecological and metabolic disorder. Many pharmacological drugs have been used to treat PCOS with numerous side effects, which have resulted in the selection of alternative treatments from natural sources. Hence, this review aims to investigate the efficacy of medicinal herbs in regularising ovulation, hyperandrogenism, and other metabolic condition in PCOS. To conduct this review, extensive literature was searched between 2010 to 2021, from PubMed, Scopus, Google scholar, and ProQuest. Based on the keywords “polycystic ovarian syndrome” or “medicinal herbs” or “ovarian cysts” or “hyperandrogenism” or “insulin resistance”. Irrelevant studies were excluded from the database. Twelve clinical studies and nine animal studies were included in the review paper. Treatment included herbs such as “Cinnamomum zeylanicum Meism, 1864”,“Curcuma longa L. 1753”, “Tribulus terrestris L. (1753)”,“Cimicifuga racemosa (L.) Nutt., 1818” and “Vitex agnus-castus (1753)”. These bioactive compounds have shown to reduce luteinising hormone, progesterone, oestradiol and fasting insulin levels. The evidence supports Vitex agnus-castus and Cimicifuga racemosa have a synergistic impact in management of amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea, infertility, and ovulation. cinnamon spp. and Curcuma longa improve insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Tribulus terresitris alone and in combination with “Withania somnifera Dunal, 1852” &amp; “Nardostachys jatamansi (D.Don) DC, 1830” has shown promising effects but in the latent stage. Based on the evidence, it may be suggested herbal medicines are effective, alone or in alternative form, in amelioration of the symptoms of PCOS

    Repeatability of corneal first-surface wavefront aberrations measured with Pentacam corneal topography [Post print]

    PURPOSE: To assess the repeatability of corneal wavefront aberrations derived from Pentacam (Oculus) corneal topography. SETTING: Flinders Eye Centre, Flinders Medical Centre, Bedford Park, South Australia, Australia. METHODS: Forty-five normal participants and 10 participants with keratoconus were tested. Intraobserver and interobserver repeatability was determined using 4 observers within and between sessions. Topographical maps were exported to external software, and corneal first-surface wavefront aberrations were calculated using a 10th-order Zernike expansion over a 6.0 mm optical zone. Repeatability was determined with Bland-Altman limits of agreement and expressed as the coefficient of repeatability (COR). RESULTS: Initial data showed high wavefront aberrations in normal participants and poor repeatability. Topographical maps showed extrapolated topography in zones without data acquisition; maps with less than 6.0 mm of complete data were excluded in the final analysis. The mean wavefront aberrations for normal participants remained high, but repeatability improved. The COR relative to the magnitude of wavefront aberrations was high (average 100%) across all modal pairs and orders, although best for total higher-order root mean square. Participants with keratoconus had higher magnitude wavefront aberrations and poorer repeatability but similar COR to average wavefront aberration ratios. Examination of raw elevation data showed poor repeatability. CONCLUSIONS: Wavefront aberrations calculated from Pentacam corneal topography were large in magnitude, and reliability was poor, largely due to variability in corneal elevation data. Intraobserver and interobserver reliability within and between sessions was comparable. The Pentacam was not reliable in measuring corneal wavefront aberrations

    Impact of post-thaw incubation time of frozen embryos on clinical pregnancy rate

    Background: Vitrification of embryos following a single-controlled ovarian stimulation has been the strategy practised now in many in vitro fertilisation clinics to minimise the risk of early ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, to reduce multiple pregnancy rates and to improve cumulative pregnancy rates. In recent years, advances in vitrification techniques and improved culture conditions have led to good post-thaw embryo survival rates, thereby increasing pregnancy rates of frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles. Aim: The aim of this study was to analyse the effect of post-thaw incubation time of frozen embryos on the clinical pregnancy rates (CPRs) of frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles. Settings and Design: This was a retrospective, comparative study done at a teaching hospital in assisted reproductive treatment. Materials and Methods: Three hundred and ten FET cycles were analysed, of which 125 had day 2 freezing and 185 had day 3 freezing. Depending upon the day of thawing and day of transfer, FET cycles were divided into six groups: Group 1 (day 2 thawing and day 3 transfer), Group 2 (day 2 thawing and day 4 transfer), Group 3 (day 2 thawing and day 5 transfer), Group 4 (day 3 thawing and day 3 transfer), Group 5 (day 3 thawing and day 4 transfer) and Group 6 (day 3 thawing and day 5 transfer). Statistical Analysis Used: Statistical analysis was performed using version 14 R software version 4.0.1 (2020-06-06) (R foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria). A P < 0.05 is taken as significant. Results: The CPR of Group 4 was 42.4% which was more than that of the other groups but it did not reach statistical significance. Conclusions: Short incubation time of 2–4 h is as effective as an extended incubation time in terms of CPRs of FET cycles

    Short and long-term impact of pharmacovigilance training on the pharmacovigilance knowledge of medical students

    OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to evaluate the short and long-term impact of pharmacovigilance (PV) training on the 5(th) year medical students’ knowledge about definitions and on the awareness of the regulatory aspects in PV. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In academic year 2010/11, the students completed structured, questionnaire before and just after training. They also completed the same questionnaire 1-year after the training. RESULTS: The students’ knowledge about PV significantly increased after training in the short term (P < 0.001). However, the improvement decreased significantly in the long-term (P < 0.001). Although long-term scores were higher than the baseline score, the difference was not statistically significant. Total scores were 17.5 ± 2.0, 20.8 ± 2.0 and 18.0 ± 2.5; before, at short and long-term after the training. CONCLUSION: PV training increased the students’ knowledge significantly. However, in the long-term, the impact of the training is limited. Repeated training of PV should be planned
