Enhancement of magnetoresistance in manganite multilayers
Magnanite multilayers have been fabricated using La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 as the
ferromagnetic layer and Pr0.7Ca0.3MnO3 and Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3 as the spacer layers.
All the multilayers were grown on LaAlO3 (100) by pulse laser deposition. An
enhanced magnetoresistnace (defined (RH- R0)/R0) of more than 98% is observed
in these multilayers. Also a low field magnetoresistance of 41% at 5000 Oe is
observed in these multilayer films. The enhanced MR is attributed to the
induced double exchange in the spacer layer, which is giving rise to more
number of conducting carriers. This is compared by replacing the spacer layer
with LaMnO3 where Mn exists only in 3+ state and no enhancement is observed in
the La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 / LaMnO3 multilayers as double exchange mechanism can not
be induced by external magnetic fields.Comment: 13 pages, 5 Figure

Large Complex Odontoma : A report of a rare entity
Odontomas are hamartomatous lesions composed of mature enamel, dentin, and pulp, and may be compound or complex depending on the extent of morphodifferentiation or on their resemblance to normal teeth. They are the most common benign odontogenic tumours, constituting 22% of all odontogenic tumours of the jaw. They are often non-aggressive and slow growing in nature, and are usually diagnosed on routine radiological examinations in the second decade of life. We report the case of an unusually large, painless, complex odontoma, which is a rare entity. It was located in the left posterior mandible and was associated with missing 1st and 2nd left mandibular molars. The diagnosis was confirmed following surgical excision and histopathological analysis of the lesion
The effect of Gokshura Churna over Tilanalakshara Yoga in the management of Mutrashmari - A Randomized Comparative Clinical Study
Background: Mutrashmari is a stone like structure anywhere in the Mutravaha Srothas which can be compared with renal calculi and one among the Astamahagada, clinical features as renal angle pain, haematuria, pyuria and dysuria. Peak age is 3rd to 5th decade while majority of patients report regarding onset of disease in 2nd decade of life and male to female ratio is 3:1. Objectives: To compare the effect of Gokshura Churna over Tilanalakshara Yoga in the management of Mutrashmari with special reference to Renal calculi. Materials and Methods: 30 patients were selected on the basis of inclusion criteria and divided into 2 groups with 15 patients in each group by chit method. Group A was treated with standard drug Tilanalakshara Yoga and Group B was traeted with trial drug Gokshura Churna. Results: It was found that standard group reduced the abdominal pain by 85.1%, dysuria by 89.4%, renal angle tenderness 88.4%, haematuria 100%, pyuria 100%, size of renal calculus 41.9% by 21st day of treatment. In study group it was observed that abdominal pain reduced by 92%, dysuria 96.1%, renal angle tenderness 91.6%, haematuria 100%, pyuria 100% and size of renal calculus 48.5% by 21st day of treatment. Conclusion: This assessment showed Gokshura Churna had significant result over Tilanala Kshara Yoga in both subjective and objective parameters with P value <0.0001
Comparison of chewing ability, oral health related quality of life and nutritional status before and after insertion of complete denture amongst edentulous patients in a Dental College of Pune
BACKGROUND: The relationship between tooth loss and nutritional intake is important. As people age, their diminished physical capacity and decreased income adversely affect their ability to maintain their teeth. The aim of the study was to assess and compare the chewing ability, oral health related quality of life and nutritional status before and after fabrication and insertion of complete denture amongst edentulous participants in a dental college.MATERIAL AND METHODS: Non Randomized Intervention study. The study population consisted of 42 participants (16 females and 26 males), aged 50 years and above. Prior to commencement of the study, informed consent was obtained and validation and reliability test of the questionnaire were done. The data for chewing ability, GOHAI and nutritional status assessment was recorded at baseline, 3rd, 6th and12th month after denture fabrication and insertion. The statistical comparisons were performed by repeated measure ANOVA and Chi-square test. P value<0.05 was considered as statistically significant.RESULTS: Chewing ability, GOHAI, BMI (Body Mass Index) and data from Food-intake questionnaire showed statistically significant improvement from baseline to 6th month but no statistically significant improvement was observed from 6th month to 12th month. Nutritive value of food (protein, energy and fat) showed no significant difference over a period of 12 months (p<0.05).Conclusion: Thus, it was concluded that the intervention (denture insertion) was effective in increasing the chewing ability, body weight, food-intake, and oral health related quality of life.KEYWORDS: nutrition, edentulousness, OHQoL, GOHAI, chewing abilit
Management of Thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood, on Rose under Open-Field and Protected Conditions
Investigation on management of thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood on roses under open-field and protected conditions was conducted during 2008-10 at Bengaluru. Clothianidin 50 WDG 20g a.i./ha proved best in terms of efficacy and cost. Vertimac, spinosad and Garlic Barrier agriculture (GB Ag ) were comparable in efficacy. GB Ag was on par with clothianidin besides being eco-friendly. GB Ag was found effective as a new molecule. Neem seed kernel extract (NSKE) proved to be superior to neem oil, pongamia oil and the commercial neem product, Nimbecidine. NSKE was also found to reduce thrips density to the extent of 64% - 88%. In rose fields where pest suppression measures are hardly practised, farmers can apply NSKE, monocrotophos or imidacloprid. Based on the cost of vertimac and spinosad, these can be recommended where cost-effective, as in commercial polyhouses growing roses

package designed for comprehending the critical multi-scale, multi-physics
phenomena through efficient computational approaches and quantitatively
modeling new generations of nanoelectronic devices as well as predicting novel
device architectures and phenomena. This article seeks to provide updates on
the current status of the tool and new functionality, including advances in
quantum transport simulations and with materials such as metals, topological
