Types and mechanisms of idiographic change during guided selfāhelp for anxiety
Objectives
To compare idiographic change during two formats of guided self-help (GSH); cognitive-behavioural therapy guided self-help (CBT-GSH) and cognitive analytic therapy guided self-help (CAT-GSH).
Design
Qualitative inductive thematic analysis.
Methods
Semi-structured interviews with N = 17 participants with a reliable change outcome on the GAD-7 after completing GSH for anxiety. Changes were categorised and themes extracted.
Results
No differences between CAT-GSH and CBT-GSH were found regarding types of change reported. The five overarching themes found were personal qualities of success, enlightenment through understanding, specific tools and techniques, changes to relationships and tailoring support. Four themes maximally differentiated between the two different types of GSH; CAT-GSH enabled relational insight and change whilst CBT-GSH enabled better understanding of anxiety, new coping techniques and supportive relationships.
Conclusions
Both common and model-specific factors contribute to patient change during GSH. Whilst all forms of GSH are grounded in the psychoeducational approach, separate theoretical foundations and associated methods facilitate different types of ideographic change

Direct Observation of Martensitic Phase-Transformation Dynamics in Iron by 4D Single-Pulse Electron Microscopy
The in situ martensitic phase transformation of iron, a complex solid-state transition involving collective atomic displacement and interface movement, is studied in real time by means of four-dimensional (4D) electron microscopy. The iron nanofilm specimen is heated at a maximum rate of ā¼10^(11) K/s by a single heating pulse, and the evolution of the phase transformation from body-centered cubic to face-centered cubic crystal structure is followed by means of single-pulse, selected-area diffraction and real-space imaging. Two distinct components are revealed in the evolution of the crystal structure. The first, on the nanosecond time scale, is a direct martensitic transformation, which proceeds in regions heated into the temperature range of stability of the fcc phase, 1185ā1667 K. The second, on the microsecond time scale, represents an indirect process for the hottest central zone of laser heating, where the temperature is initially above 1667 K and cooling is the rate-determining step. The mechanism of the direct transformation involves two steps, that of (barrier-crossing) nucleation on the reported nanosecond time scale, followed by a rapid grain growth typically in ā¼100 ps for 10 nm crystallites
Social representations of HIV/AIDS in five Central European and Eastern European countries: A multidimensional analysis
Cognitive processing models of risky sexual behaviour have proliferated in the two decades since the first reporting of HIV/AIDS, but far less attention has been paid to individual and
group representations of the epidemic and the relationship between these representations and reported sexual behaviours. In this study, 494 business people and medics from Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Poland and Russia sorted free associations around HIV/AIDS in a matrix completion task. Exploratory factor and multidimensional scaling analyses revealed two main dimensions (labelled āSexā and āDeadly diseaseā), with significant cultural and gender variations along both dimension scores. Possible explanations for these results are discussed in the light of growing concerns over the spread of the epidemic in this region
Epidemiology of ovine toxoplasmosis and neosporosis in rams from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Although the State of Rio Grande do Sul is one of the principal sheep rearing regions in Brazil, the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum is unknown in rams. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of ovine toxoplasmosis and neosporosis and the risk factors associated with the development of these diseases in rams used exclusively for breeding.September 23-28, 2018

Metal gettering by boron-silicide precipitates in boron-implanted silicon
We show that Fe, Co, Cu, and Au impurities in Si are strongly gettered to boron-silicide precipitates formed by supersaturation B implantation and annealing. Effective binding free energies relative to interstitial solution range form somewhat above 1 to more than 2 eV. The B-Si precipitates formed at temperatures {le}1100{degrees}C lack long range structural order but closely resemble and icosahedral B{sub 3}Si phase in composition, local bonding, and chemical potential. Evidence indicates that the metal atoms go into solution in the B-Si phase, and this is interpreted in terms of the novel bonding and structural characteristics of B-rich icosahedral compounds

Land Cover Trends Dataset, 1973ā2000
The U.S. Geological Survey Land Cover Trends Project is releasing a 1973ā2000 time-series land-use/land-cover dataset for the conterminous United States. The dataset contains 5 dates of land-use/land-cover data for 2,688 sample blocks randomly selected within 84 ecological regions. The nominal dates of the land-use/land-cover maps are 1973, 1980, 1986, 1992, and 2000. The land-use/land-cover maps were classified manually from Landsat Multispectral Scanner, Thematic Mapper, and Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus imagery using a modified Anderson Level I classification scheme. The resulting land-use/land-cover data has a 60-meter resolution and the projection is set to Albers Equal-Area Conic, North American Datum of 1983. The files are labeled using a standard file naming convention that contains the number of the ecoregion, sample block, and Landsat year. The downloadable files are organized by ecoregion, and are available in the ERDAS IMAGINETM (.img) raster file format
