    Fiscal science and technology expenditure and the spatial convergence of regional innovation efficiency: evidence from China’s province-level data

    Narrowing the gap in regional innovation efficiency is conducive to the coordinated development of regional economies. Fiscal science and technology (S&T) expenditure is the government’s primary means of supporting regional innovation. It also plays an essential role in improving the efficiency of regional innovation. This study constructs a spatial convergence economic model based on a dynamic perspective. It also examines the relationship between fiscal S&T expenditure and spatial convergence of regional innovation efficiency. China’s regional innovation efficiency shows a trend of conditional b-convergence. Fiscal S&T expenditure positively affects the spatial convergence of regional innovation efficiency and has an inverted U-shaped, nonlinear relationship as a whole. The transmission mechanism test revealed that the cross-regional flow of research and development (R&D) personnel can enhance this positive effect, and the role of R&D capital is not significant

By subtly linking the process of learning professional knowledge with their personal, social, and national development, this plan seeks to foster a professional education philosophy that cultivates "socialist successors.

    Design of a Blockchain-Based Service Platform for Industrial Interconnection Supply and Demand Networks

    With the continuous cross-border cooperation among industries, the concept of an industrial interconnection supply and demand network is constantly mentioned. As industry interconnectivity continues to grow, collaboration models have changed as companies work more closely with each other, and the synergy model has changed. In order to improve the efficiency of collaboration and to promote the free allocation of resources in the trading process of the industry interconnection supply and demand network, an industry interconnection supply and demand network resource matching platform based on the Alliance blockchain was built, steps for resource trading on the platform were proposed. Using blockchain technology’s smart contract technology to simplify the transaction process, the triggering mechanism and algorithm rules of smart contracts in the trading process of the platform were designed, and the smart contract code was developed, deployed, and tested using Remix IDE, and the test results showed the transaction process between the supply and demand sides. Through blockchain technology, it achieves information security and transparency in the process of resource trading in the industry interconnection supply and demand network, establishes a trust mechanism on both sides of the transaction, reduces redundant steps in the transaction and improves the operational efficiency of the industry interconnection supply and demand network by increasing the efficiency of resource allocation

    Chaotic-Search-Based Cultural Algorithm for Solving Unconstrained Optimization Problem

    For premature convergence and instability of cultural algorithm in solving function optimization problem, based on cultural algorithm and chaos search optimization, a chaos cultural algorithm (CCA) is proposed. The algorithm model consists of a chaos-based population space and a knowledge-storing belief space, uses normative knowledge and situational knowledge for chaos search and chaos perturbation, respectively, effectively avoids premature convergence of cultural algorithm, and overcomes chaos search optimization's sensitivity to initial values and poor efficiency. Test results show that this algorithm is strong in global search and has good performance in searching efficiency, precision, and stability, especially in solving high-dimensional optimization problem

    Multi-energy conversion based on game theory in the industrial interconnection.

    The multi-energy conversion system (MCS) plays an important role in improving the utilization of energy resources and realizing the energy transition. With the application of the new generation of information technologies, the new MCS can realize real-time information interaction, multi-energy collaboration, and real-time demand response, in which energy suppliers can intelligently motivate consumers' energy use behavior. In this paper, an MCS coupled with a cloud platform is proposed to address information explosion and data security issues. Due to the development of Internet technology, the increasing energy data, and the serious energy coupling, it is difficult for traditional optimization methods to deal with the interaction between participants of the MCS. Therefore, the non-cooperative game is used to formulate the interactions between participants with the aim of maximizing the energy suppliers' profit and minimizing the customers' cost. It is proved that the game model is an ordinary game with one Nash equilibrium. The simulation was performed with a gradient projection algorithm and the results show that the proposed MCS improves energy utilization efficiency through energy conversion while ensuring consumer satisfaction, and benefits both the customers and suppliers by reducing the energy consumption cost and the peak load demand, which effectively improve the supply quality and enrich the energy consumption patterns

    The Circular Economy: A Study on the Use of Airbnb for Sustainable Coastal Development in the Vietnam Mekong Delta

    The concept of the circular economy has become well known for its solution-oriented approach to transforming available resources into a closed-loop resource system. However, in the context of coastal areas, coastal resources seem to be ignored in the tourism production and consumption process. In relation to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this article discusses how sharing economy practices may sustain coastal resources through ecotourism, applying a sharing-economy theory that emphasizes changes in the new form—a circular economy—rather than a single traditional Airbnb model or ecotourism model. This study proposes a coastal sustainable development structure model based on the integration between the sharing economy and ecotourism with three modes—positive economic effects, positive economic pressures, and sustainable coastal development—and uses coastal residents’ expectations of their living conditions as moderating factors to investigate the impact of the circular economy on coastal sustainability. We developed a survey-based model that included 303 samples from the indigenous residents of 13 provinces throughout the Vietnam Mekong Delta. The results show that the integration of ecotourism with the Airbnb model has a positive effect on residents’ living conditions, supporting sustainable local development. However, the advancement of technology and residents’ awareness involves barriers to coastal development because the process of modernization is still limited in coastal areas. More specifically, in the case of the Vietnam Mekong Delta, our results suggest that limited technical knowledge and language ability stand as barriers to coastal businesses, showing that the lack of inter-regional connectivity limits the magnitude of local tourism in coastal areas. These findings are useful for assessing residents’ living conditions so that coastal development can work towards poverty reduction. Finally, the establishment and expansion of policies by local authorities can be an indispensable part of coastal economic development by limiting the negative effects of the abuse of natural resources and facilitating family businesses in coastal zones in an effort towards the integration of economic development and social and environmental responsibility

    The 3D integrated model for e-government systems success: a case of the e-EIA system in Kenya

    A 3D integrated model is proposed and validated in the government-to-business context of a developing country. Derived from the updated DeLone and McLean and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology models, it integrates IT quality, target user adoption, and success measures. Using Mixed Method Researchmethodology, 227 quantitative and 106 qualitative responses were obtained. Quantitative data was analysed using Partial Least Square Path Modelling while qualitative data was analysed for theme frequency distribution. Empirically, the strongest determinants of egovernment systems success were service quality, social influence, facilitating conditions and user satisfaction. Low level of automation (26%), slow speed (21%), response and processing delays (21%) were the most frequently cited hindrances to success. We recommend robust end-user support management coupled with adequate system maintenance services and top-down stakeholder engagement strategy to enhance system usage and deployment of sufficient information technology infrastructure to facilitate access to services.Keywords: 3D Integrated Model; E-Government Systems Success; Government-To-Business, e-EIA Syste

    Applying advanced technologies to improve clinical trials: a systematic mapping study

    AbstractThe increasing demand for new therapies and other clinical interventions has made researchers conduct many clinical trials. The high level of evidence generated by clinical trials makes them the main approach to evaluating new clinical interventions. The increasing amounts of data to be considered in the planning and conducting of clinical trials has led to higher costs and increased timelines of clinical trials, with low productivity. Advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and the internet of things offer an opportunity to improve the efficiency and productivity of clinical trials at various stages. Although researchers have done some tangible work regarding the application of advanced technologies in clinical trials, the studies are yet to be mapped to give a general picture of the current state of research. This systematic mapping study was conducted to identify and analyze studies published on the role of advanced technologies in clinical trials. A search restricted to the period between 2010 and 2020 yielded a total of 443 articles. The analysis revealed a trend of increasing research interests in the area over the years. Recruitment and eligibility aspects were the main focus of the studies. The main research types were validation and evaluation studies. Most studies contributed methods and theories, hence there exists a gap for architecture, process, and metric contributions. In the future, more empirical studies are expected given the increasing interest to implement the AI, ML, DL, and IoT in clinical trials.</jats:p

    The Positive Effects of Unneeded Consumption Behaviour on Consumers during the COVID-19 Pandemic

    The COVID-19 pandemic has become an important global contagion that requires workers to implement necessary behaviours to cope. Based on the conservation of resources theory, the present studies explore the effects of unneeded consumption behaviour on consumers’ recovery level and work engagement and the moderated mediating process of such relationships. Using a purchasing experiment, study 1 examined the positive effect of unneeded consumption behaviour on recovery among 100 MBA students. Using the experience sampling method, the data in study 2 were collected from 115 consumers (employees) using ten iterations of 2-day continual questionnaires (Sunday and the following Monday) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results from multilevel structural equation modelling indicate that unneeded consumption behaviour positively impacts work engagement in a moderated mediating mode. Consumer indulgence positively moderates the mediating effect of recovery level on the relationship between indulgent consumption behaviour and work engagement, while perceived consumer effectiveness negatively moderates the mediating effect of recovery level. This paper also identifies the value of transformation from consumption to work during the COVID-19 pandemic

    Dehydrocurvularin-loaded mPEG-PLGA nanoparticles for targeted breast cancer drug delivery: preparation, characterization, <i>in vitro</i>, and <i>in vivo</i> evaluation

    Dehydrocurvularin (DCV) is a promising lead compound for anti-cancer therapy. Unfortunately, the development of DCV-based drugs has been hampered by its poor solubility and bioavailability. Herein, we prepared a DCV-loaded mPEG-PLGA nanoparticles (DCV-NPs) with improved drug properties and therapeutic efficacy. The spherical and discrete particles of DCV-NPs had a uniform diameter of 101.8 ± 0.45 nm and negative zeta potential of −22.5 ± 1.12 mV (pH = 7.4), and its entrapment efficiency (EE) and drug loading (DL) were ∼53.28 ± 1.12 and 10.23 ± 0.30%, respectively. In vitro the release of DCV-NPs lasted for more than 120 h in a sustained-release pattern, its antiproliferation efficacy towards breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, and 4T1) was better than that of starting drug DCV, and it could be efficiently and rapidly internalised by breast cancer cells. In vivo DCV-NPs were gradually accumulated in tumour areas of mice and significantly suppressed tumour growth. In summary, loading water-insoluble DCV onto nanoparticles has the potential to be an effective agent for breast cancer therapy with injectable property and tumour targeting capacity.</p
