    Synthesis of a Bifunctional Macrocycle

    Macrocycles are important organic ligands for encapsulating metal ions. This work describes the first step of a synthesis to create a bifunctional macrocyclic ligand suitable for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) studies. Cyclen is an organic macrocycle that contains twelve atoms total, with four nitrogen atoms incorporated into the cyclic backbone. Cyclen can be modified to coordinate a variety of metal ions by adding additional chelating arms. This synthesis is focused on functionalizing three of the donor nitrogens with carboxylate arms, while strategically leaving the fourth nitrogen available for further modification

    The Role of Spirituality and Disease Acceptance in Predicting Psychological Well Being in a Group of Individuals With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

    Background: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a long term health condition, characterised by the complex interplay between physical and psychosocial health. In the absence of a cure, psychological interventions that help with adjustment to IBD may be vital for effective disease management. Acceptance and spirituality are well-known coping strategies in chronic health conditions and both are considered to be linked to adjustment. Third wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions draw upon features of spirituality through their utility in mindful acceptance and values, offering a framework in which, potentially valuable, coping strategies for IBD can be harnessed. However, the dearth of literature in this area limits the extent to which clinical recommendations can be made for third wave CBT’s. The current study aims to elucidate whether acceptance and spirituality are valuable components to psychological wellbeing in IBD. In doing so, offering preliminary evidence for an intervention study. Methods: A total of 120 participants were recruited from an online, web-based survey. This constituted an IBD group and a general population group. Predictor variables included anxiety, depression, spirituality, acceptance and disease severity. A cross-sectional, quantitative, exploratory design was undertaken. Analyses included correlations, followed by a series of regression analyses to examine predictors of psychological wellbeing. Results: Disease severity was linked to psychological wellbeing and social support. Compared to the general population, acceptance was the most significant predictor of psychological wellbeing in IBD. To smaller degrees, spirituality and social support were also significant contributors of anxiety or depression between IBD and the general population. Associations were not found between spirituality and acceptance in any group. Additional qualitative reports indicated beneficial effects of using complementary and alternative therapies, although quantitatively these findings were not supported. Discussion: This is the first study to explore the potential for acceptance and spirituality to assist psychological wellbeing in a UK based IBD population. Disease severity and acceptance were unequivocally the most important factors contributing to psychological wellbeing. Spirituality may be protective of anxiety while social support appears to be a mediator of depression. The implementation of a pilot acceptance based intervention, such as an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) group, for IBD is warranted

    UU OJK berlaku pada tanggal 22 November 2011. Berdasarkan Pasal 55 ayat (2) UU OJK, sejak tanggal 31 Desember 2013, fungsi, tugas, dan wewenang pengaturan dan pengawasan perbankan beralih dari BI ke OJK. Dengan diundangkannya UU OJK, diharapkan dapat memberikan perlindungan hukum bagi nasabah dan masyarakat yang belum terakomodir dengan baik melalui UU BI. Permasalahan yang muncul adalah mengenai bentuk-bentuk perlindungan hukum bagi hak-hak nasabah bank yang diatur melalui UU BI dan UU OJK, dan implementasi berlakunya UU OJK dalam melindungi hak-hak nasabah bank. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan dan menganalisa bentuk-bentuk perlindungan hukum bagi hak-hak nasabah bank yang diatur melalui UU BI dan UU OJK serta implementasi berlakunya UU OJK dalam melindungi nasabah bank. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifat normatif dengan spesifikasi penelitian yang bersifat deskriptif analitis menggunakan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari studi kepustakaan, kemudian dianalisa secara kualitatif menggunakan alur deduktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk perlindungan hukum bagi hak-hak nasabah yang diatur melalui UU BI, yaitu: transparansi informasi produk bank kepada nasabah; edukasi masyarakat; ketentuan tentang alat pembayaran dengan menggunakan kartu; pelayanan dan penyelesaian pengaduan nasabah oleh bank; dan mediasi perbankan. Sedangkan melalui UU OJK, yaitu: pemberian dan pelayanan informasi; edukasi literasi keuangan kepada konsumen dan masyarakat; menghentikan kegiatan LJK apabila kegiatan tersebut berpotensi merugikan masyarakat; ketentuan tentang perjanjian baku antara konsumen dan LJK; pelayanan dan penyelesaian pengaduan nasabah; pembelaan hukum; dan pembentukan LAPS di sektor jasa keuangan. UU OJK diimplementasikan melalui kegiatan-kegiatan edukasi, pembuatan peraturan, penyiapan perangkat, mekanisme dan fasilitas pengaduan, dan bertindak sebagai saksi ahli dalam pengadilan pada perkara konsumen dan LJK. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa UU BI dan UU OJK mempunyai pengaturan yang berbeda dalam melindungi hak-hak nasabah bank. Untuk itu diharapkan agar OJK dapat memantau perkembangan dari hasil fasilitasi penyelesaian sengketa oleh OJK

    Thypoid adalah masalah yang sering dijumpai pada anak. Pada umumnya angka kejadian penyakit thypoid tinggi pada daerah tropis dibandingkan dengan daerah berhawa dingin. Salah satu manifestasi klinis yang sering dijumpai pada penderita demam thypoid adalah hipertermi. Kompres hangat tepid sponge merupakan salah satu tindakan mandiri perawat yang dapat dilakukan dalam mengatasi hipertermi dan belum pernah dilakukan diruangan. Tujuan penulisan ini untuk menerapkan tindakan kompres hangat tepid sponge kepada pasien dengan masalah utama hipertermi pada kasus thypoid di Ruang Hijir Ismail Rumah Sakit Islam Ahmad Yani Surabaya. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan menerapkan kompres hangat tepid sponge pada pasien hipertermi di Ruang Hijir Ismail Rumah Sakit Islam Ahmad Yani Surabaya. Pengambilan data yang dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, observasi dan pemeriksaan fisik. Berdasarkan hasil observasi setelah dilakukan asuhan keperawatan secara holistik yang didalamnya terdapat intervensi kompres hangat tepid sponge didapatkan suhu tubuh 36,70C, nadi 100x/menit, respiration rate 20x/menit, dan menyatakan kenyamanan masing-masing dengan skala 5 atau tidak ada gangguan. Penerapan kompres hangat tepid sponge ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan intervensi mandiri bagi perawat sebagai tindakan nonfarmakologis pada masalah keperawatan hipertermi sehingga klien dapat mencapai kesehatan yang lebih optimal

    PENGARUH TERAPI BEKAM TERHADAP TINGKAT NYERI HAID PADA REMAJA DI RW. 06 DESA WONOAYU GEMPOL PASURUAN

    Nyeri haid merupakan salah satu masalah ginekologis yang mengganggu kehidupan sehari-hari dan masalah yang paling sering dialami wanita khususnya remaja. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh terapi bekam terhadap tingkat nyeri haid pada remaja di RW. 06 Desa Wonoayu Gempol Pasuruan. Desain penelitian ini adalah pra-Experimental dengan rancangan one-group pra-post design dengan populasi remaja di RW. 06 Desa Wonoayu Gempol Pasuruan dengan nyeri haid sebanyak 17 remaja. Dan besar sampel 16 remaja. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan Probability Sampling dengan teknik Simple Random Sampling. Variabel independen adalah pemberian terapi bekam dan variabel dependen adalah tingkat nyeri haid. Data penelitian menggunakan lembar observasi, dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon signed rank test dengan tingkat kemaknaan α = 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum diberikan terapi bekam (Pre-test) sebagian besar responden (68,7%) menyatakan tingkat nyeri haid berat (7-9) dengan rata-rata tingkat nyeri haid 7,31dan sesudah diberikan terapi bekam (Post-test) setengahnya responden (50,0%) menyatakan tingkat nyeri haid tidak nyeri (0) dengan rata-rata tingkat nyeri haid 1,25. Setelah dilakukan uji Wilcoxon signed rank test di dapatkan nilai ρ adalah 0,001 dan nilai α = 0,05, berarti ρ < α maka H0 ditolak artinya ada pengaruh terapi bekam terhadap tingkat nyeri haid pada remaja di RW.06 Desa Wonoayu Gempol Pasuruan. Simpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa dengan diberikan terapi bekam bisa mengurangi tingkat nyeri haid pada remaja di RW. 06 Desa Wonoayu Gempol Pasuruan. Dalam rangka meningkatkan mutu dan kualitas asuhan keperawatan yang dilakukan secara independen untuk memberikan intervensi keperawatan khusunya manajemen nyeri haid. Sebaiknya perawat lebih melengkapi teknik- teknik penurunan nyeri dengan cara nonfarmakologis seperti terapi bekam

    Temperature Dependent Analytical Modeling, Simulation and Characterizations of HEMTs in Gallium Nitride Process

    Research is being conducted for a high-performance building block for high frequency and high temperature applications that combine lower costs with improved performance and manufacturability. Researchers have focused their attention on new semiconductor materials for use in device technology to address system improvements. Of the contenders, silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN), and diamond are emerging as the front-runners. GaN-based electronic devices, AlGaN/GaN heterojunction field effect transistors (HFETs), are the leading candidates for achieving ultra-high frequency and high-power amplifiers. Recent advances in device and amplifier performance support this claim. GaN is comparable to the other prominent material options for high-performance devices. The dissertation presents the work on analytical modeling and simulation of GaN high power HEMT and MOS gate HEMT, model verification with test data and device characterization at elevated temperatures. The model takes into account the carrier mobility, the doping densities, the saturation velocity, and the thickness of different layers. Considering the GaN material processing limitations and feedback from the simulation results, an application specific AlGaN/GaN RF power HEMT structure has been proposed. The doping concentrations and the thickness of various layers are selected to provide adequate channel charge density for the proposed devices. A good agreement between the analytical model, and the experimental data is demonstrated. The proposed temperature model can operate at higher voltages and shows stable operation of the devices at higher temperatures. The investigated temperature range is from 1000K to 6000K. The temperature models include the effect of temperature variation on the threshold voltage, carrier mobility, bandgap and saturation velocity. The calculated values of the critical parameters suggest that the proposed device can operate in the GHz range for temperature up to 6000K, which indicates that the device could survive in extreme environments. The models developed in this research will not only help the wide bandgap device researchers in the device behavioral study but will also provide valuable information for circuit designers
