Information has become a valued commodity in this age of globalization. Information centers all over the world are now better equipped to manage information due to advancement in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). In this context, Institutional Repositories (IRs) provide a unique platform for information management through new ways of Information Storage and Retrieval (ISR) and digitization. The awareness regarding Open Access Publishing (OAP) and attitudes of IR users are very important contributing factors in success of any institutional repository. The paper is an attempt to highlight the necessary role of IR in building the academic capabilities of research scholars in South Asian region. This paper focuses on perception evaluation of research scholars regarding IR in terms of awareness, and availability of IR. A questionnaire based survey method has been employed to collect data from research scholars. It has been found that most of the participants are aware of the existence of the IR. They showed that they are capable to use IR. The study will be helpful in providing practical implications for other institutions to initiate IR

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A MULTICARRIER MIMO SYSTEM BASED ON DFT-PRECODING AND SUBCARRIER MAPPING

    Get PDF
The ever-increasing end user demands are instigating the development of innovative methods targeting not only data rate enhancement but additionally better service quality in each subsequent wireless communication standard. This quest to achieve higher data rates has compelled the next generation communication technologies to use multicarrier systems e.g. orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), while also relying on the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. This paper is focused on implementing a MIMO-OFDM system and on using various techniques to optimize it in terms of the bit-error rate performance. The test case considered is a system implementation constituting the enabling technologies for 4G and beyond communication systems. The bit-error rate optimizations considered are based on preceding the OFDM modulation step by Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) while also considering various subcarrier mapping schemes. MATLAB-based simulation of a 2 × 2 MIMO-OFDM system exhibits a maximum of 2 to 5 orders of magnitude reduction in bit-error rate due to DFT-precoding and subcarrier mapping respectively at high signal-to-noise ratio values in various environments. A 2-3dBs reduction in peak-to-average power ratio due to DFT-precoding in different environments is also exhibited in the various simulations

Time Series Analysis and Forecasting of Air Pollutants Based on Prophet Forecasting Model in Jiangsu Province, China

Due to recent developments in the global economy, transportation, and industrialization, air pollution is one of main environmental issues in the 21st century. The current study aimed to predict both short-term and long-term air pollution in Jiangsu Province, China, based on the Prophet forecasting model (PFM). We collected data from 72 air quality monitoring stations to forecast six air pollutants: PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2, CO, and O3. To determine the accuracy of the model and to compare its results with predicted and actual values, we used the correlation coefficient (R), mean squared error (MSE), root mean squared error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE). The results show that PFM predicted PM10 and PM2.5 with R values of 0.40 and 0.52, RMSE values of 16.37 and 12.07 μg/m3, and MAE values of 11.74 and 8.22 μg/m3, respectively. Among other pollutants, PFM also predicted SO2, NO2, CO, and O3 with R values are between 5 μg/m3 to 12 μg/m3; and MAE values between 2 μg/m3 to 11 μg/m3. PFM has extensive power to accurately predict the concentrations of air pollutants and can be used to forecast air pollution in other regions. The results of this research will be helpful for local authorities and policymakers to control air pollution and plan accordingly in upcoming years

This study aimed to examine the correlation between teacher attitudes and student self-esteem at the secondary level. The survey method was chosen as the most effective way to explore this relationship. The study population consisted of male and female secondary schools in the Lahore district. To ensure the reliability and validity of the self-developed questionnaires, a pilot study was conducted with a small group of rural and urban teachers and students. The Cronbach alpha was used to assess the questionnaire's reliability. The researcher collected the data personally, with permission from the school authorities. The questionnaires were returned within a specified timeframe, as agreed upon with the participants. Students were given ample time to complete the questionnaires. SPSS version 16 was used for data analysis. A five-point Likert scale was used to code the data for smooth progress and analysis. The feedback from both teachers and students was entered into SPSS. Percentage, Pearson Chi-square, and two-attribute comparison were employed to determine the relationship between teacher attitudes and student self-esteem. The results revealed a significant and strong positive correlation between teacher attitudes and student self-esteem

The primary purpose of this research is to ascertain how students think about their adjustment in university and interpersonal relations. The study was statistically quantitative and a survey was used. A total of 300 students a public university was included in the sample and analysis. The research sample was selected at random. A total of 300 students were included in the sample. Questionnaire was used. Each quiz has a five-point Likert scale. The first section of the questionnaire covered basic demographic information. Expert review and preliminary testing of the instrument confirmed its validity and reliability in local context. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. To get a sense of the distribution of students across a demographic variable, we used mean and standard deviation calculations from descriptive statistics. Independent sample t-tests and One-Way ANOVA (analysis of variance) of differences, and pearson r used for inferential statistics. The results showed that the mean scores of students’ adjustment in university is higher than interpersonal relations, as well as there was no significant relation was existed on the basis of this study between interpersonal relations and adjustment in university

The study was conducted to explore the perceptions about workplace spirituality among the government school sectors teachers. The purpose of this study was to explore the spirituality among the teachers and their workplace. In order to conduct the present research, a questionnaire was formed and distributed among the government school sectors in Lahore Cantt, and the data used for this research paper was collected through random sampling of 100 teachers. The sample of the study was comprised of 50 male and 50 female teachers of secondary level. The data collected was analyzed through SPSS and represented in the form of tables. It was concluded that majority of the teachers do feel connected spiritually to their workplace and this connection is formed with many different aspects of their personal and professional lives. Most of the teachers before filling the questionnaires had some misplaced idea about spirituality of the workplace but in the end, majority of the teachers’ answers indicated towards the fact that their connection with their workplace is helpful, motivational and encouraging. At the end of the research paper discussions and recommendations were made to enhance the idea of spirituality in workplace.&nbsp

Behaviour and attitude are both fundamental components of human nature. Some behaviours are innate, while others can be modified through various instrumental and psychological conditioning. This study emphasizes exploring the association between teachers and students on the basis of managing strategies. A researcher has used quantitative analysis to analyze the items of both teacher and student questionnaires. The tool for data collection was a survey of different proportions of public and private schools. To approach the target population, convenient sampling has been used to select the audience. In this research, only female students from the secondary level have been selected as respondents. The sample size has been different for both teachers as 50 and students as 300. Moreover, the objectives of the study were surrounded by managing strategies used by the teacher and the students' behaviour regarding these approaches to analyze whether they were effective for class management or not. This subject has its importance and findings showed that for all public and private schools to update and make necessary improvements in the context of teaching strategies that help the education system progress at the secondary level
