Data is the new oil. From the beginning of the 21st century, data is similar to what oil was in the 18th century, an immensely untapped valuable asset. This paper reviews recent advances in the field of optimization under uncertainty via a modern data lens and highlights key research challenges and the promise of data-driven optimization that organically integrates machine learning and mathematical programming for decision-making under uncertainty. A brief review of classical mathematical programming techniques for hedging against uncertainty is first presented, along with their wide spectrum of applications in Process Systems Engineering. we provide an introduction to the topic of uncertainty in machine learning as well as an overview of attempts so far at handling uncertainty in general and formalizing this distinction in particular. In line with the statistical tradition, uncertainty has long been perceived as almost synonymous with standard probability and probabilistic predictions. Yet, due to the steadily increasing relevance of machine learning for practical applications and related issues such as safety requirements, new problems, and challenges have recently been identified by machine learning scholars, and these problems may call for new methodological developments

Abstract Introduction: Discovering If the post-operative patient is given dexamethasone or without dexamethasone, it can cause recurrence of Chronic Subdural Hematoma patients. This systematic review aims to summarize the research on the link between dexamethasone and recurrent chronic subdural hematoma. Methods: We present systematic reviews reported according to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) and adhere to a structured review protocol. We searched PubMed, ScienceDirect, and British Medical Journal databases using the following search strategy from inception to March 2023. Results: Four studies were included for further analysis. CSDH can be treated as medical, surgical, or both medical surgeries. Medical treatment for post-traumatic and post-operative prophylaxis of seizures and for preventing edema and ischemia. Anticonvulsant agents can be cut off after a few weeks if post-operative seizures do not appear at all. Surgery has been shown to be most effective in the treatment of cSDH. The evacuation of subdural collections forms the basis of the surgery in cSDH. After treatment, residual subdural fluid collections are standard. The most critical and dangerous complications of surgical treatment of acute post-operative bleeding. Discussion: Chronic subdural hematoma is an event of head bleeding that occurs for more than three weeks. It can be examined using CT (Computed Tomography). Often occurs in parents. The operation was carried out using the burr-hole method, and post-operative treatment can be given using dexamethasone. Recurrent bleeding may occur in patients with chronic subdural hematoma

The Caspian kutum (Rutilus kutum Kamensky, 1901) is an important economic species in the southern, uniquely Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea. The present study aimed to assess the desirable levels of the Caspian kutum for stock enhancement with two scenarios using fingerlings released (FR) and recruitments (R) density-dependence and macrobenthic production (P). Based on the results, in the years 1989-2018, the FR increased from 72 million in 1989 to 400 million in 2009 and then declined to 176 million in 2018. In contrast, the R with a lag of 2 years declined from 44.53 million in 1991 to 25.77 million in 1998, increased to 65.07 million in 2005, and then collapsed to 25.01 million in 2018. Based on FR-R relationships of Ricker and segment regression models, the lowest level of FR, which resulted in the highest R (39 million), was about 200 and 150 million fingerlings, respectively. Based on the P/Biomass ratio of macrobenthic species, the annual production was 241.6 thousand mt. It concluded that the desired number of the Caspian kutum fingerling concerning stock enhancement could be lower than 150 million to prevent overcompensation in the Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea

This research discusses about the regulation of product replenishment in K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang. The main problem is that the total cost to replenish 4 products with highest value is too high. This may because of the existing regulation isn’t optimal enough. The amount of stock in an order and the range time between orders is too flexible, and the lead time from ordering to receiving the product is also small, allowing the firm to order new supply almost in any day, without considering the ordering cost. The author decides to determine the optimal regulation for the future of product replenishment system in K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang. Therefore, the author needs to find new strategies to find the right regulation of product replenishment system that can reduce the total cost. Design/methodology/approach: The theories used are demand forecasting to find the targeted year’s estimated demand, continuous and periodic review policy with the ROP, EOQ, OUL and SS inside it to find whether the product should order with fixed quantity or range of time, business process to know the roles and help the implementation plan.Finding: The end of this research shows that K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang should use the continuous review policy as their replenishment policy to minimum their total cost in the next years. Existing regulation is too flexible, the firm can order supplies with any quantity in any time, it may good to avoid lost sales but not for their costs.Research limitations/implications: This research only focus to the inventory management of the 4 chosen product, the year used for observation is from the last 2 years ( and 2011), and the variable of inflation and expired date will be ignored.Practical Implications: There are changes in system of recording the stock and sales to support the proposed replenishment strategy. The outcome of this research is Replenishment Strategy in form of new Review Policy to apply to the K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang’s inventory management that can reduce the total cost.  Originality/value: This research has an outcome which is Replenishment Strategy that can reduce the total cost. Keywords: Inventory Management, Stock Replenishment Policy, Demand Forecast, PharmacyCategory: Performance Management; Operation

Accurate symptom of cancer patient in regular basis is highly concern to the medical service provider for clinical decision making such as adjustment of medication. Since patients have limitations to provide self-reported symptoms, we have investigated how mobile phone application can play the vital role to help the patients in this case. We have used facial images captured by smart phone to detect pain level accurately. In this pain detection process, existing algorithms and infrastructure are used for cancer patients to make cost low and user-friendly. The pain management solution is the first mobile-based study as far as we found today. The proposed algorithm has been used to classify faces, which is represented as a weighted combination of Eigenfaces. Here, angular distance, and support vector machines (SVMs) are used for the classification system. In this study, longitudinal data was collected for six months in Bangladesh. Again, cross-sectional pain images were collected from three different countries: Bangladesh, Nepal and the United States. In this study, we found that personalized model for pain assessment performs better for automatic pain assessment. We also got that the training set should contain varying levels of pain in each group: low, medium and high

In 2017 the Indonesian Islamic Bank contributes premium income to Shari’a Insurance in Indonesia amounting to 1.8 billion rupiah. There are 5 (five) Islamic Banks in Indonesia that contribute premiums to national Shari’a Insurance. The big five Islamic Banks in Indonesia are; Bank Mandiri Shari’a (BMS), Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI), Bank Negara Indonesia Shari’a (BNIS), Bank Rakyat Indonesia Shari’a (BRIS) and Bank Mega Shari’a. With increasing income of the National Shari’a Bank, it is expected to have an increasingly income of Shari’a National. Indonesian Islamic Banks give significant contribution to the growth of Shari’a Insurance premiums in Indonesia. While other Shari’a financial instruments in Indonesia such as Shari’a BPR, Leasing Shari’a are not so large, so they have not provided significant premium contributions to National Shari’a Insurance. If other Islamic Financial Instruments can accelerate market share, then of course it will be able to provide additional premiums that are not small to Shari’a Insurance in Indonesia. This research is expected to be further developed in order to increase the income of Islamic banks in Indonesia while at the same time growing national Shari’a Insurance Premium Income. Keywords : Islamic Bank, Sharia Insurance and Takaful

    Get PDF
Located in the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot, Bangladesh is a tropical country in Southeast Asia and a transitional point for flora and fauna between the Indo-Himalayan and Indo-Chinese subregions. About 11% land area (1,429,000 hectares) of the country is covered with four major forest types: mixed-evergreen forests, deciduous forests, mangrove forests, and freshwater swamp forests. Though Bangladesh is a small and densely populated country, it is the home of 1952 species of invertebrates, 653 fish, 50 amphibians, 147 reptiles, 566 birds, and 127 mammalian species of which many of them are globally threatened. We have discussed the latest status of all the major vertebrate groups in this chapter. Thirty-one species of vertebrates have gone extinct from Bangladesh over the last century. Many of the species are facing continuous threat of extinction due to deforestation and degradation of habitat caused by various anthropogenic activities. In this chapter, we are going to discuss about the current management and conservation practices and issues related to the forests and wildlife of Bangladesh
