Ceci n’est pas un argument appropré (this is not a proper argument)
This provocation poses questions of various sizes ‘inspired’ by some of the written publications that have theorised the concept of Practice as Research and drawing on lessons learnt from supervising PhD’s (with and without PaR). It consists of ‘musing’ rather than a proper argument and makes reference to feminism. Some readers might find both of these things very irritating. Throughout the course of its musing, questions asked include: ‘Is it acceptable to start a sentence with ‘And’ in academic writing?; ‘What does and does not have the status of ‘theory’? And who does and does not have the status of a theorist? and ‘What is a proper argument?’ No answers are provided and no conclusions drawn

Assimilation in Charles W. Chesnutt\u27s Works
ABSTRACT
Charles W. Chesnutt captures the essence of the Post Civil War period and gives examples of the assimilation process for African Americans into dominant white culture. In doing so, he shows the resistance of the dominant culture as well as the resilience of the African American culture. It is his belief that through literature he could encourage moral reform and eliminate racial discrimination. As an African American author who could pass for white, he is able to share his own experiences and to develop black characters who are ambitious and intelligent. As a result, he leaves behind a legacy of great works that are both informative and entertaining
Labelling Genetically Modified Products Under International Law
This paper focuses on the debate on the health, policy and legal regimes that require the special labeling of food, drugs and other products that contain genetically-modified-organisms. The paper examines national and international regulatory schemes on genetically-modified-organisms and the roles of the General Agreements on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and World Trade Organization (WTO) conventions for non-restrictive global trade. This paper analyzes the scope, aims and objectives of the proposed international Biosafety Protocol in line with the overarching goals of GATT/WTO. The paper concludes that the food industry and individual producers should have the liberty to decide whether to label the genetically-modified products because having regulations based on consumer anxiety without any scientific evidence of harm violates the GATT objectives
