    Capital structure in South Korea: A Quantile Regression Approach

    This paper analyzes capital structure in South Korea from 1991 until 1999. The paper makes use of quantile regression methods to explore the changing distribution of debt-capital ratios across firms and over time. We find clear evidence of heterogeneity in the capital structure of firms. There is also strong evidence of heterogeneity in the determinants of capital structure choice. The size of the firm and its rate of growth have a positive impact on debt at low values of the debt ratios, but a negative impact at high values of the ratios. By contrast, the proportion of net fixed assets has a negligible impact at low values of the debt ratios, but a significantly positive impact at medium or high values of the ratios. The observed non-linearities in the determinants of capital structure are consistent with an agency cost theory of capital structure, and with both a non-negativity constraint and an upper bound on debt.

    Peranan Majelis Pengawas Daerah Dalam Melakukan Pengawasan Terhadap Notaris Di Kota Jambi

    Notaris yang merupakan pejabat umum yang memiliki kewenangan khusus dari Negara untuk membuat akta autentik yang merupakan salah satu bukti atau alas hak yang sah. Dalam melakukan tugas jabatannya Notaris pasti pernah khilaf dan membuat kesalahan, dan oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pengawasan terhadap Notaris dalam melaksanakan tugas jabatannya tersebut. Untuk itu dibentuklah suatu badan yang melakukan pengawasan khusus terhadap Notaris yaitu Majelis Pengawas Notaris. Majelis Pengawas yang terbagi atas Majelis Pengawas Daerah, Majelis Pengawas Wilayah dan Majelis Pengawas Pusat memiliki tugas dan fungsi masing-masing. Majelis Pengawas Daerah merupakan dasar utama pengawasan yang dilakukan terhadap Notaris. Bentuk pengawasan yang dilakukan yaitu pemeriksaan berkala setiap 6 (enam) bulan sekali. Majelis Pengawas Daerah sama peranannya di seluruh Indonesia seperti juga Majelis Pengawas Daerah Notaris di Kota Jambi. Permasalahan adalah bagaimanakah pelaksanaan pengawasan yang dilakukan oleh majelis pengawas daerah notaris dalam upaya melakukan pengawasan terhadap notaris di kota Jambi, apa saja faktor yang menghambat bagi majelis pengawas daerah notaris dalam melakukan pengawasan terhadap notaris di kota Jambi, bagaimana upaya-upaya yang dilakukan oleh majelis pengawas daerah notaris mengatasi hambatan-hambatan yang ditemui dalam melaksanakan pengawasan terhadap notaris di kota Jambi. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peranan yang dilakukan oleh majelis pengawas daerah notaris dalam upaya melakukan pengawasan terhadap notaris di kota Jambi, mengetahui faktor yang menghambat bagi majelis pengawas daerah notaris dalam melakukan pengawasan terhadap notaris di kota Jambi, mengetahui upaya-upaya yang dilakukan oleh majelis pengawas daerah notaris mengatasi hambatan-hambatan yang ditemui dalam melaksanakan pengawasan terhadap notaris di kota Jambi.     National Center for Healthcare Leadership Competency Model Use in a Midwestern Healthcare Organization

    The purpose of this study was to explore senior leaders integration of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) competency model within their employee evaluation system. This case study was conducted to explore how the NCHL leadership competency model is used within their organization\u27s employee evaluation system. The NCHL leadership competency model guided this study. The research was an exploration of themes in leadership competencies used in the healthcare organization. Data collection included in-depth interviews with 10 healthcare junior leaders in a single healthcare organization in the Midwestern United States who had at least 1 year of experience as a leader and a review of secondary data related to their job skills and annual evaluations. Using Saldana\u27s method of data analysis, 4 primary themes emerged: leaders are transformed by vision and focus, leaders need continuous training, leaders like accountability, and leaders like influence goal creation. The 4 themes indicated that participants perceived NCHL leadership competencies integrated in their performance evaluation system to be of benefit. The findings revealed senior leaders might benefit from integrating the NCHL competency model in new leader orientation competencies, leadership training, and performance assessment tools. Positive social change may result by successful implementation of the NCHL leadership competency model strategies from this study, improving societal healthcare through efficient healthcare delivery
