    The Experience, Task Value and Self-Efficacy of Nursing Students in Attending Blended Learning in Basics Science in Nursing 2 Course in Faculty of Nursing Universitas Padjadjaran

    Introduction: The implementation of blended learning in nursing education is needed to provide quality and efficient learning. There is a need for an investigation of students’ experience in following blended learning especially in the subject of basic science in nursing 2 including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathophysiology and pharmacology in nursing topics. This study aims to provide an ideal picture for students of the Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia. Methods: This study occupied quantitative descriptive research method with simple random sampling technique. The respondents were 93-second years students of the Faculty of Nursing, UniversitasPadjadjaran. The Learning Experience Questionnaire (LEQ) instrument was used to measure students’ experience. The data were analysed using percentage analysis. Results: More than a half of total respondents had good experience in participating in mixed learning of IDK course. Conclusions: Students’good experience may be influenced by the availability of student access to the internet, and the instructional design of the blended learning. The main obstacle in implementing the course were a large learning credit burden and extensive coverage of the learning material. Technology skills training and habituation of blended learning needs to be given by the faculty before students take part in blended learning.

    Gambaran Pelaksanaan Pendidikan Kesehatan pada Area Praktik Keperawatan di Wilayah Bandung Raya

    Peningkatan kualitas pendidikan kesehatan di wilayah Bandung Raya berpotensi meningkatkan kualitas hasil perawatan yang berdampak pada peningkatan derajat kesehatan penduduk. Penelitian  ini merupakan survey pendahuluan untuk memotret bagaimana pelaksanaan pendidikan kesehatan di area praktik keperawatan di wilayah Bandung Raya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional dengan menggunakan metode survey. Data dianalisa dengan analisis distribusi frekuensi dan tendensi sentral. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa media ajar yang paling sering digunakan yaitu leaflet dan media ajar yang banyak dibutuhkan yaitu video dengan rata-rata kualitas media ajar yaitu cukup baik. Metode pendidikan kesehatan yang paling sering dilakukan oleh responden yaitu ceramah dan diskusi. Tempat yang paling banyak digunakan oleh responden untuk melaksanakan pendidikan kesehatan yaitu ruang pasien dengan rata-rata kualitas cukup baik. topik yang paling banyak diajarkan yaitu kategori keperawatan medial bedah. Rerata intensitas pelaksanaan pendidikan kesehatan yaitu kategori sering. Sebagai kesimpulan, gambaran pelaksanaan pendidikan kesehatan dijelaskan dalam pembahasan termasuk terkait media, metode, tempat, intensitas dan topik pembelajaran. Pelaksanaan pendidikan kesehatan perlu disusun secara sistematis dan perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut dengan instrumen yang sesuai pada masing-masing elemen sistem desain instruksional

    The Impact of Virtual Reality Simulation on Cognitive Achievement of Nursing Students

    Introduction: Simulation of nursing care in patients with acute respiratory infections (ARI) requires a method that is high fidelity. This study aims to determine the impact of Virtual Reality Simulation (VRS), as a learning method, on the improvement of cognitive abilities of undergraduate nursing students in conducting nursing care of the ARI case. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with pre and post-test on the control and intervention group. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with a total of 27 respondents divided into nine respondents in each group, including the control group (group A)  intervention group (Group B and C). There were three different methods in the implementation of VRS as learning activities. Data were analyzed by ANCOVA test. Results: The results showed a significant impact on the application of VRS as a learning method with p <0.05 (0.025). Conclusion: This significant impact was obtained in the implementation of VRS as a stand-alone learning method

    Early Detection of Breast Cancer According to Fertile Age Women

    Breast cancer is currently still the leading cause of death in women both in the world and in Indonesia. Fertile age women, a routine of Breast Self-Examination (BSE) can help them detect and prevent mortality from breast cancer. Knowledge is one of the main factors that contribute to the implementation of BSE. This study aims to determine the description of fertile age women’s knowledge regarding the early detection of breast cancer with BSE. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a population that is the fertile age women in Tegal Panjang Village, Garut. The number of samples is 90 women gained by Cluster Random Sampling with Slovin’s formula. This study used a closed questionnaire consisting of 28 questions. The results showed that most of the fertile age women had a sufficient level of knowledge about early detection of breast cancer. In conclusion, the level of the respondent's knowledge regarding the early detection of breast cancer is still not optimal. This may be influenced by the low level of education and exposure to health education. Optimization of health education and health promotion needs to be done to increase fertile age women’s knowledge about BSE

    Evernote adalah aplikasi yang dapat digunakan sebagai platform e-learning alternatif untuk pendidikan tinggi. Namun, belum diketahui tingkat usabilitas dan kepuasannya pada pendidikan keperawatan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi tingkat usabilitas dan kepuasan Evernote sebagai platform e-learning. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei menggunakan kuesioner dengan teknik purposive sampling. Responden adalah 139 mahasiswa Fakultas Keperawatan, Universitas Padjadjaran yang mengikuti online course Ilmu Dasar Keperawatan versi trial. Data tendensi sentral (mean) dianalisis untuk setiap item dan setiap kategori. ‘Rerata usabilitas’ dan kepuasan terhadap ‘desain’ dinilai cukup baik (69,2% dan 77%), namun kategori ‘reliabitas sistem’, dan ‘hasil dan penggunaan di masa depan’ masih dinilai rendah (56,5% dan 56,4%). Ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi Evernote diminati oleh mahasiswa namun mereka belum dapat melihat kemanfaatannya dalam belajar karena penelitian dilakukan pada mata kuliah online versi trial. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan dengan implementasi Evernote pada mata kuliah yang terintegrasi dengan kurikulum, dan didukung dengan tahap persiapan yang komprehensif

    The psychological experiences of using Islamic philosophy approach among women’s with advanced breast cancer in Indonesia

    BACKGROUND: Breast cancer turns a person’s life upside down, affecting every aspect of an individual including the psychological domain, such as feelings of phobia, isolation, anger, irritability, confusion, and most frequently anxiety. Some studies reported that rituals practice in Islam have an impact on the psychological health breast cancer patient. AIM: The aim of the study was to explore the experience of psychological alteration among patients with advanced breast cancer. METHODS: A qualitative study utilizing the content analysis approach was organized. Twenty Muslims with breast cancer during chemotherapy treatment with a mean age of 47.1 years who dealt with their psychological responses during treatment were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview, before and after applying Islamic-based practice therapy. This study conducted between February and June 2018 in the outpatient unit of chemotherapy in one of the Indonesia’s teaching hospitals. The generated data were transcribed verbatim and the content analysis approach was used for data reduction, data names, obtaining analytical code, and determining categories and themes. RESULTS: Four themes emerged from the data analysis before the researchers using the Islamic-based practice therapy: (1) Self-blaming, (2) feeling sad, (3) feeling fear and uncertain, and (4) living with a new body. However, the results after applying the Islamic-based practice therapy emerged three themes: (1) Closer to God, (2) peace of mind, and (3) inner strength. CONCLUSION: Overall, in the view of breast cancer patients, the psychological experience of using the Islamic�based practice therapy could change to positive responses by making them feel closer to God, having good inner strength, and a peaceful mind in dealing with their day-to-day conditions. Hence, understanding the patient’s experience will assist the nurses to promote professional abilities and improve nursing care delivery related to different cultural backgrounds and spiritual dimensions of Muslims patients

    The Effectiveness of Standardized Patient Experience (SPE) Model in Teaching Critical Thinking Capability of Bachelor Nursing Students Compared to Case Study

    Critical thinking is a main ability for nurses. However, the learning methods that are usually used by nursing education institutions cannot facilitate the development of critical thinking of nursing students optimally. This research investigated the effectiveness of Standardized Patient Experience (SPE) model in practicing the critical thinking capability of nursing students compared to case study. This quasi-experiment study used 77 nursing students as the samples that were divided into control and experiment group. Although there are no significant different between the total critical thinking scores of the students who participated in SPE compared to case study (p= 0.146), but there are differences in analysis and problem solving aspect (p==0.019 and 0.00). the satisfaction and confidence level of the students toward the SPE are also significantly increased compared to case study (p=0.01 dan p=0.00). To conclude, both the SPE and case study method are effective in developing the critical thinking of the nursing students

    Persepsi mahasiswa tentang efektivitas pembimbing klinik

    Pendahuluan: Pencapaian keterampilan klinik keperawatan sangat dipengaruhi oleh kualitas pembimbing klinik.  Peran pembimbing klinik yang tidak efektif dapat menyebabkan rendahnya capaian kompetensi mahasiswa keperawatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menginvestigasi persepsi mahasiswa tentang efektivitas pembimbing klinik.Metode:Metode penelitian menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi, yaitu mahasiswa Program Profesi Ners Angkatan XXXVIII Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Padjadjaran. Teknik sampling menggunakan total Sampling dengan sampel yaitu 124 orang. Instrumen menggunakanThe Nursing Clinical Teacher Effectiveness Inventory(NCTEI) (Cronbach Alpha=0,79-0,89). Hasil:Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap efektivitas pembimbing klinik di RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung (RSHS) diniali lebih baik (mean=261,28) dibandingkan dengan RSUD Dr. Slamet Garut (RSUD Garut) (mean=233,85). Subvariabel tertinggi pada pembimbing klinik di RSHS yaitu kemampuan mengajar (mean=5,75), sedangkan di RSUD Garut yaitu hubungan interpersonal (mean=5,12). Simpulan:Efektivitas pembimbing klinik di RSHS dipersepsikan lebih baik dibandingkan RSUD Garut. Institusi pendidikan perlu melakukan evaluasi dan pengembangan kapasitas dari pembimbing klinik secara berkala
