A Usability Study of a Tool for Contributor-supplied Metadata Creation: The Use of Metadata Element Definitions and Examples in Online Help

This paper describes a usability study of Botanical Pride, a contributor-supplied metadata creation tool which allows botany enthusiasts to create metadata for images of botanical specimens. Two versions of the interface were tested: a Definitions Only version that included definitions of metadata elements and a Definitions+Examples version that included definitions of metadata elements and one or more examples of metadata element values. Participants used each version of the interface to create a metadata record for a different selected image. Testing was conducted via the World Wide Web. Usability was measured by responses to a satisfaction questionnaire and by mean task completion times. Recommendations are made for the use of examples in the help for Botanical Pride. Implications for the design of future studies of metadata creation tools for use by non-metadata experts are considered

Tempo-Express, a CBR Approach to Musical Tempo Transformations

The original publication is available at www.springerlink.comIn this paper, we describe a CBR system for applying musically acceptable tempo transformations to monophonic audio recordings of musical performances. Within the tempo transformation process, the expressivity of the performance is adjusted in such a way that the result sounds natural for the new tempo. A case base of previously performed melodies is used to infer the appropriate expressivity. Tempo transformation is one of the audio post-processing tasks manually done in audiolabs. Effect of annealing treatments on the anisotropy of a magnesium alloy sheet processed by severe rolling

The effect of annealing treatments on the normal plastic anisotropy (r-value) of a magnesium alloy, AZ61, processed by severe rolling was investigated. The various annealing treatments produce two effects on microstructure: grain coarsening and slight weakening of the texture. In addition, these treatments produce a noticeable decrease of the anisotropy that was correlated with an increase in strain rate sensitivity and a decrease of work hardening rate. It is concluded that an enhanced contribution of basal slip occurs as a consequence of the annealing treatments.The authors acknowledge the financial support from the CICYT grant MAT 2006-02672 awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science.Peer reviewe

Стенд для презентации продуктов чайной компании

Объектом исследования являются выставочный стенд компании, производящей чайную продукцию. Целю выпускной квалификационной работы является разработка дизайн-проекта выставочного стенда компании, производящей чайную продукцию. В процессе работы изучены и спроектированы элементы стенда: общие конструкции стенда, стойка ресепшн, витрины для хранения и демонстрации чайной продукции. Также осуществлено зонирование выставочного стенда на зону дегустации демонстрации чайной продукции и зону отдыха и приговоров. В качестве наглядного материалы был выполнен макет, подготовлена графическая часть для презентации проекта, создан презентационный видеоролик и демонстрационный планшет.The object of the research is the exhibition stand of the company producing tea products. The aim of the final qualification work is to develop a design project for the exhibition stand of a tea producing company. In the process, the elements of the stand were studied and designed: general stand designs, reception desks, display cases for storing and demonstrating tea products. Zoning of the exhibition stand was also carried out at the tea tasting demonstration zone and the recreation and sentencing zone. As a visual material, a mockup was made, a graphic part was prepared for the presentation of the project, a presentation video clip and a demonstration tablet were created
